Does anyone know a cat species that they’re supposed to be? I’m starting to think they’re a mix, like a mutt would be for a dog, that for a cat, where there is no identifying cat species that they would be predominantly. Anyone? :wilykat::wilykit:

I was going to ask that at Wondercon until Iheard “One more question” so I just moved on. But I remember hearing from somewhere that they were like Tabby cats, or at least a small breed of cat.

I think in the original, Wilykat looked similar to Tygra in hairstyle and Wilykit similar to Lion-O in hair style. But I think they look more fashioned after domestic house cats in this new one. Tabby works. Their stripes in the original could be likened to tabbies.

Feral cats are cat populations that have bred in the wild but were started by pet cats that got lost, ran off, etc. Doesn’t take many generations before you have cats that look like domestic cats but are completely wild.
I’m leery of fully trusting Wikipedia given that it’s open for anyone to put what they want on it. What’s the difference between a wildcat and a feral cat? These wildcat pics look an awful lot like the kind of cats we have as pets. I get more the impression a wild cat is a term used to describe many kinds of cats. A lion is a wildcat, as is a tiger, a panther, a cheetah, etc…
Go search google, there are plenty more websites out there that refer to Wildcat as a species.
Then just go ahead and google Felis silvestris. its on more sites than just Wikipedia.
And if you read it said its suggested that domestic cats come from Wildcats.

If I’d have to give them a big cat breed, it be bobcats probably. Similar in color and such and with the lack of marking like Cheetarah or Tygra seems to make sense.
But they are probably just Feral cats. Adorable lil feral cats.

Aren’t Wildcats also an ancestor to domestic cats? I remember watching a special on cats on Animal Planet a while ago that talked about the evolution o modern day domestics. But I think the ancestor they mentioned is from Africa.
If Wildcats are an ancestor it perfectly fits with the whole “lesser” evolved thing and how they can be viewed, or consider themseves, lower than other thuderians. And also part of the reason they have tails.
If the Kittens are indeed still modelled on Wildcats in the new series then maybe it should be obvious from rings on their tails. However I’m yet to get a good look at their tails myself and therefore can’t say for sure. It was implied they were a less evolved form of Thundarian compared to the ‘nobles’ and could therefore simply be based on ‘normal’ less specialised cats.
I can see them being rogue type characters, into mischief all the time (like stealing and vandalising), until the ‘nobles’ teach them how to behave! lol
Actually, that’d be pretty awesome. We’d get a few good laughs and also see great character development. 
I like the idea. Could create some interesting subplots and dialogue between the elder Cats and the Kittens.
Is it my imagination, or does Wilykat look an awful lot like Aang from The Last Airbender in this screen shot? Come to think of it, Kit’s profile looks similar to Katara. Hmm…

I can definitely see them as little thieves tho. They seem to be impoverished orphans in this version and it Does coinside with their mischievous natures.
Here’s a thought: ya know that little furry dude Lion-O kicks in the first trailer? Maybe he’s some kinda dude that uses the twins to steal stuff for him a’la Fagin in Oliver Twist.
Are you referring to that little guy? Another twist to your thought, maybe he’s the Thunderkittens step-father. Their father died awhile back, mom remarried this horrible man, then she died and the kittens got stuck with him. Gives sound logic for the kittens to come under Lion-O’s care if they have no parents and he frees them from their horrible step-father. Maybe this would be a good fan fic.
