Not sure If Brian and the team have seen this video From ToyAddict26 yet.
Tygra has major paint issues and scratches on it, not to mention he’s missing the elbow pad and band on his arm.
Even ToyAddict26’s Mumm-Ra had paint slop on it.
Not only did the Mattel Factory not make wave 2 a priority and cause
over a year delay but then the final product they shipped was like a
huge fuck you to Super7.
Brian should have yanked wave two from Mattel and just made them at the
super7 Factory like he did with wave 3 and beyond.
Mattel just doesn’t care how they make or paint product and its turning
off the Thundercat Customers.
I see lots of comments saying They are canceling Their Tygra & Grune
figures and going to ask for refunds.
I wonder if that elbow part should’ve been the pad painted wrong. Most (or all) of the TC Ultimates figures don’t have that elbow.
Panthro, Lion-O, and the Kitkats are a bit darker in the last portion pose. In actual, they’re lighter on-hand. So I have hopes that the reddish/yellowish face on Tygra may probably be lighter when we get it on-hand and this is just a lighting/video/photography adjustment on toyaddict26’s shots.
According to The Fwoosh Grune’s knees aren’t missassembled, they just look wrong because of the awful knee design with the swivel joint.
Strangely they did not mention Grune’s hips.
Personally at this point I wouldn’t mind if super7 chose NOT to ship out wave 2 to customers and announces that they plan to tool and reissue the entire wave from their factory.
although there would be a longer delay they could include a glowing eyes effect head for both Tygra & Pumyra

In my opinion, the sky is not falling here. First of all the masses do not have these in hand. Everything we are discussing is based on very limited information. Every figure is different, any collector can tell you this. Paint flecks on one will not match any flaws or lack thereof on another.
I would not expect Super7 to redo this wave except maybe Tygra. These are mass produced toys - I have Marvel Legends, TMNT figures, Star Wars, TransFormers, etc - all have released figures to retail with flaws. Paint flecks. Odd looking joints or proportions at times. Wrong colors here or there. In fact a lot of lines just straight up skip paint operations to save money after advertising the figure with them and never bat an eye or even respond to fans. I think we need to keep a level head and realistic expectations. Yes the price is high, but the reality is that’s because they can’t move millions of these. It does not reflect perfection - when you have many machines and hands involved in a process, mistakes are inevitable.
Tygra has serious flaws, but the rest appear fine and Grune’s hips are very likely a matter of functionality. There is a difference between obvious omissions or errors and simple side effects of mass production or physics.
I find it very unlikely that another company will step in and do these should Super7 decide to stop doing so. It was a struggle for us to get here. This line can be a success but it takes both sides to set realistic expectations.
Grune’s hips are an eyesore so not sure what happened there to just expose the ball hip joints like that. I heard pumyra looks good and she is shorter so that’s good too and Mumm-Ra looks fantastic.
Grune might need a complete new tooling but Tygra just needs the elbow pad and band. I saw the fwoosh’s photos and the figures look better that what toyaddict26 was showing, his lighting might be darker.
Grune though even the Fwoosh said those hips are bad
Slithe? Seriously? He looks fantastic. Thers no CQ issue with the figure other than the belt and blue colors. differed from the painted prototype, which not everyone felt was a dealbreaker. The paint aps are crisp and clean and the figure itself is well made.
Cheetara is being worked on so its unfair to bring her up until we see the completely new tooled figure.
Slithe is a great sculpt but the blue colour is inaccurate, especially when they managed to get the colour right on the ReAction.
Slithe like Captain Cracker, Monkian, Mumm-Ra and Mumm-Ra TEL and all the characters not on the MOTUC buck look excellent.
It is completely fair to bring up Cheetara. The Super 7 factory messed up the first run of the figure they produced.
I will say though it was a very classy decission Super 7 made to make the factory re-do the figure rather than send out an inferior product.
The old just be happy with what you’re getting, there might not be another chance. Personally given the option to overpriced bad product or nothing, I’ll take the latter.
You can’t compare these to stuff like Star Wars or Transformers mass retail items. These are expensive “made to order”, (whatever that actually means), figures. There should be a certain level of expectation that is realistic to the initial prototype and the standard set by the company overall.
My favourite figure of last year was Super 7’s TMNT Muckman. He is a beast, amazing sculpt, impeccable paint apps, and based on his size and accessories I’d say a great value figure. My Slithe arrived with some paint splatter on the belt. No bug deal as i repainted him anyway but definitely sloppier than my experience with the TMNT figure.
Compare this to Tygra. From the pics we’ve seen we have obvious paint issues in the box, incorrect parts and the paint scheme is off. There is a general level of care not present here that is not representative of S7’s other output. I’ve not heard of similar occurrences in their other licenses and that is the standard we should hold them to. They are redoing Cheetara due to a lack of quality. I see a similar lack here with Tygra and Grune for sure. I think they have set the bar significantly higher with their other output and that is a realistic expectation.
“Made to order” means they only make enough figures to cover the received orders along with a certain amount for replacements.
However considering it is a much smaller run being produced rather than toys being produced for worldwide mass retail there really should be a higher standard of quality control.
Mistakes like Tygra’s bicep and Grunes hips though are unacceptable which is a shame as Mumm-Ra and Pumyra seemed to turn out perfect.
That Super 7 Muckman does look amazing along with some of their other TMNT figures.
But that’s really my point - this line isn’t some total disaster. But if people act like it is it can become nothing very quickly. I have already stated I see some of the same issues even if we don’t agree on all of them. But we have seen even in this thread things escalate and the line blurred between significant physical errors (parts missing, missasembly) and paint flecks.
These are not made to order exactly - they still have base amounts they produce. Otherwise retailers would never have extra product (obviously). And another of my points was that despite what may be a smaller production run, quality control concepts really don’t change. These are still mass produced in the same factories that very likely mass produce toys for other companies (in fact we know the one factory produces for Mattel).
I’m the last person to make apologies for big companies that don’t handle their responsibilities, but Super7 has been far from silent and not at all as deceitful as other toy manufacturers have been time and time again. Those are facts. The sky is not falling.
yes you are right the sky is not falling! i am glad super7 is giving us thundercats I also buy other figures of them and I support them. and i see this as non important things now… they are just toys in the end of the day. Just one final thing, if super7 wasn’t just rushing to give us figures..and took some serious time to actually inspect at the first stages of the figures and deliver a good sword of omens for lion-o, correct briefs for panthro, correct painted neck for jackalman, tygra with his pad, correct hips for grune correct hips for cheetara, ‘‘tomorrow first view of the next wave…oh no canceled for licencing issues until further notice’’ …wouldn’t then be a need for booster packs and same corrected figures vol two and sending back for retooling figures… and loose money and time and spoil their name and brand…i ordered tygra i will have him…with his flaws…but i will be pissed if a few months later make another better version of him and ill have to spent more money for a figure that i already have but wrong made…
In addition to the right arms missing band/elbow pad the left arms band color is wrong. It should match the dark blue on the top of the boots. If the right arm had the pad then it should also be the same dark blue but with the darker teal from the vest. ugh
I wonder if they could send us “trunks” for Grune that could be slipped over his crotch piece, similar to panthro, which might make it look better. Right now it looks pretty bad.
I sent Rudy at Super7 an email today to pass along to Brian and the team Showing The Prototype images of Grine front & back and Tygra Front and Back.
Grune’s trunks were clearly meant to cover the hip ball joints not be painted at the factory to try and make the ball joints look like part of the trunks.
Also clearly showing that Tygra in the color he was made indeed had a Sculpted elbow Pad on his Prototype.
I asked if Super7 might be willing to offer a second booster Pack that could include corrected trunks for Grune to cover his hip ball joints and an Elbow pad with a colored fabric elastic cord to slip it on Tygra’s arm and Maybe also a Glowing Eyes Tygra Head. ( can’t hurt to ask ) :tygra
I’ll see if I get a reply, as Rudy did tell me in another email reply that Brian and the team are aware of the on line comments about the wave 2 errors and the team will be addressing the wave 2 issues.
my thoughts after i saw the reviews online for this wave…and i have to say that they both skipped some issues…i mean how can you not notice the huge grey paint spot on grunes eyebrow ? or the sloppy paint application on regular tygras face? and why the heck no one used the large pumra’s head on mumm-ra? i mean like i dont really care if they can do a total split, be more creative with your reviews guys…so
for all the figures of the line i am not sure how they deside, but we got both variations, when they paint real metalic (gold and silver) and cartoon metalic (purple-grey) and i really wish they had stick with one plastic for the sword of omens because every single version we got is different silvery plastic * grun’s is the best in my opinion and not all of them detailed painted…

no 1 by far mumm-ra turned out very well done!
some paint issues and that softy center piece on his helmet…and the awesome in design but horrible plastic unpainted sword of plandar1. the blue color is a bummer but yeah no big deal.
no 2 Pumyra looks dissent she is a little to the tall side but ok better than before
a little too big and weird surprised eyes..
no 3 my favorite little Tygra, i love the cel accurate and yeah LJN was right in colors too, i am happy they changed it, i always felt like every character had his own different color palette to stand out.
i relly dont like the orange plastic they used, some color inconsistencies between the plastic different body parts, lots of paint issues, his face, his eyes, eyebrows, hair, feet, weird shadow on abs …lots of scratches and paint spots all over his body…the hard not to notice missing elbow pad
( if you can give correct everyone else’s accessories even slythe got his arm bracelets right you cant miss that one, and it was there in the prototypes!)
i like his whips a lot minus that weird soft goods ropy one…i dont really like the plastic end attached for me doesn’t really work well. and why one third earth Tygra dont have an extra piece with him? everyone else has! theres a lot of treasure of thundera not made yet,even a plain round fruit from that specific episode would be cool!
and last no 4 and far behind Grun. For me it would have worked better the angry face with the one tooth as a bad guy.
the eye-shoring hips don’t lie here. bad execution on that one here. i guess an extra pair of larger briefs will do better. i see what they wanted to achieve with the removable armor but in my opinion they should have cut it above the belt. if the belt was attached on the figure i am sure we wouldn’t had the hips issue . and the knees look really weird
that’s my thoughts for this wave, fortunately we saw the wave 4 and we know that they can do much better in quality and paint …they just need to see the details more…like lynxo’s feet, mandora’s helmet detail, and they have a chance to correct lion-o’s body proportions with red, make him taller with a better torso i really dont mind if he looks different from the lion-o we good…they can always make on more based on the new improved body of red.
sorry for the lengthy message, but i really feel that the fans here are afraid of telling their opinion for not hurting super7’s feelings or something…we all here love thundercats and i will praise them when they deliver an amazing ultimates figure and criticize them when they don’t, to more waves to come!
