Tygra is my favorite ThunderCat and I’m pleased with his new look. I’m just afraid of what his voice is going to sound like because I loved… loved, loved, loved!!! the original Tygra voice.
I like the outfit we see in the trailer. But not the green “army” outfit.
Oh my sweet Tygra, they have gone and made you more Smexy for me to be all fangirl over. And so now I have to get all your merchandise. Damn you WB…damn you.

I love the new redesign. Dont get me wrong, classic RB Tygra was great. Yes the outfit was lacking, but his tiger features were more pronounced. The biggest issue I had, was that they had so much detail to him in alot of episodes they colored him wrong. No orange nose, random patches of creme, lines instead of the thicker stripes. THat irritated me even as a kid.
With this smoother sleeker design I’m hoping that they dont mess up the coloring and animation. Sure he isnt as gritty looking as old Tygra, but he still is clearly a Tiger. And I LOVE the bold face stripes. Love love love them.

I agree with this. They sometimes didn’t put enough care on his coloring. Not only the njose wasn’t orange in some eps, but you could see his chest was sometimes skin-colored, and others it was compeltely orange (I liked more the first one).
He did have many details in his clothes that made it hard to paint him well everytime. I also think they chose to cover most of his body (unlike Panthro or Lion-O) because a) it would have been hard to draw black stripes everytime, and b) it was hard to find a color that matches the organge of his skin, considering they didn’t think green as a fancy color back in the old series.
Also, sometimes they drew him like wearing completely-closed boots, instead of those that left his ankles and toes exposed.
What I don’t like of the new design is that in the old series, Tygra was the most feline-resembling TC (you could say with no doubt he was a tiger, not the same with Panthro: panther where?, Lion-O: just a guy with thick nose and long hair, or even Cheetara -the seocnd most feline-resemblant); now it’s not that much because his face is too white IMO.

While I agree that his update seems to be the best of all the ThunderCats, I must respectfully disagree that he most needed updating. I thought the original Tygra was wonderfully done. I’m not really keen on the black stripes on his face.

I agree. I would definitely like more depth to be revealed about his character in the new series.
Can you give examples of when he actively showed a reluctance to reveal emotions and bring to view his internal world? It’s not that I doubt you, I just can’t think of anything like this in the series.
I haven’t seen that episode lately, but was Tygra the only other ThunderCat with Lion-O when he said that or were they all there? Tygra always struck me as a leader, having both the maturity and self-restraint that a leader should have. Not that Panthro and Cheetara didn’t have those. But Panthro struck me as the kind of guy who never sought to be in charge and is happy in life doing whatever it is he likes to do without the responsibility of leadership. Cheetara might have been one to lead but she seemed younger than both Tygra and Panthro and never stood out to me as a leader.
I think these two quotes, even though spoken when Tygra was under the influence, really reveals something deeper about Tygra to us. Being under the influence of a drug or alchohol has a tendancy to take away inhibitions of a person and reveals some deeper things that they would normally keep hidden it seems.
I think his armor makes him look like he should be in G.I. Joe.
I like the ears. You didn’t really see ears on most of the characters in the original, but Jaga and Panthro both had these gigantic, pointy ears on the side of their faces that stuck up high. They looked weird to me. I like these new ears, they look more cat-like and since they are humanoid, it’s natural that their ears would be on the sides of their heads rather than towards the top.
I don’t like the gun either. They never used guns in the original series and I like that about the O.S. I wish they’d keep that the same in the new series.
Glad to know I wasn’t the only one who loved that voice.
I hated how his hair would look bouffanty sometimes. LOL.
One thing I’m going to miss on all of the characters is the little tiny vertical stripe that was under their eyes. To me it seemed to add a little extra something.
In some of the new pics of Tygra I think he looks a little like Orlando Bloom, who is kinda cute so I don’t mind.

Wow, he sounds really evil, so I’m having a hard time hearing Tygra in that. Like Myonara said, I’ll have to wait to hear how he voices Tygra before I’ll know how I like his voice or not.

Sorry for my late reply CodeofThundera.I came to these conclusions about Tygra from his overall appearance on the Show. If you watch all the 130 episodes you will see for yourself that Tygra was somehow subsided by Panthro.Even the fact that they left him behind to secure the Cat’s lair when the team returned to New Thundera is a small sign of him being a bit underrated, I mean in season 2 Panthro is shown much more than Tygra.However, i do too believe Tygra was a very interesting character with great depth.
In ‘All that Glitters’ when Lion-o said that they were alone with Tygra right before Lion-o went into the Volcano to reforge the broken sword.
Hmm… after listening to the 2nd one, I hear Tygra more when he’s saying “In between heavy bouts of REM sleep and slowly circling the nearest elementary school…”
I just rewatched that episode to refamiliarize myself with it. I wonder if Lion-O’s comment to Tygra being lord if he didn’t make it out was a hasty young lord of the ThunderCats passing charge to the only person there. Although he could have just as easily said, “If I don’t make it out, tell Panthro that he will be the new Lord of the ThunderCats.” So he does show a respect for Tygra as a leader.
I should also stress here, it is equally important, that in the episode Pumm-ra, Tygra presides over the thundercats council and puts forward the best suggestion concerning Pumm-ra’s presence.Tygra acts as the leader there, everybody listens to him, even Lion-o. We learn from this episode, from Tygra’s own confession, that Jaga has chosen him to be the head of the Thundercats council.

Not only that, but in that same episode (Pumm-Ra), Tygra risks himself into the Lair, even when lion-O initially opposed to that, and then he confronted Mumm-Ra (in his Punmm-Ra form) and bit him.
About him being left on Third Earth for the last season, it always bothered me, but a friend made me see it was a vote of trust to his character, something like “we know you can handle it, and we trust you to do a good job”… that cheered me up, although I think my friend was just trying to comfort me
Well, the counter argument, could be that Thundecats decided to leave behind Pumyra as well… who is most likely, the definition of an inferior and subordinate Thundercats character..
But your point is taken, you can’t lump Tygra and Pumyra together.Their role is totally different, so i think your suggestions are right :tygra:
Maybe they just wanted to get rid of Pumyra, so decided to leave just her… BUT considered she would mess up everything and needed soemthing reliable to look after her, and Tygra was the best choice.
