Funny. Whatever it was, with the new propulsors they attached to the Feliner, they could reach New Thundera in a few nanoseconds or something like that, according to Tygra. So a galactoyear might not be that much lol
I think a “galacto-year” was just something they came up with to sound like a measurement of time that wasn’t necessarily specific. Some kind of standard year that was the same length of time anywhere in their original galaxy, I’d guess.
If we’re to assume that he actually aged ten years, then galacto-year might also be a relativistic term: ten years in the reference frame of the flagship, regardless of how much time passed in the reference frame of, say, Third Earth or Thundera.
Also, I haven’t thought hard enough about it or done the math, but the lack of suspension capsules onboard the Berbil ship might also be accountable by relativity.
ETA: To the best of my understanding, it is accountable by relativity. Say, for example, that Third Earth and Thundera are separated by 100 light years and are fixed relative to one another, and that the Flagship and the Berbil ship travel the same route, leaving at the same time.
Now say that the Flagship travels at .995 times the speed of light, and the Berbil ship travels faster, at .99995 times the speed of light. From the reference frame of Third Earth and Thundera, both ships arrive around the same time (100.5 and 100.005 years later, respectively).
But time in the reference frame of each ship passes differently. Onboard the Flagship, 10.04 years pass, whereas onboard the Berbil ship, only 1 year passes. (If you want to see the math, PM me, or read this time dilation example.) The numbers can be tweaked however we want them to be. The point is, because both the ships are traveling the same distance at very close to the speed of light, they can arrive at Third Earth around the same time, having experienced vastly different passages of time along the way.
The real problem is the distance traveled. They’re coming from a different galaxy—one outside our local group of galaxies, judging by WilyKat’s comments in “Exodus”—which means it’s tens of millions of light years away. That makes it difficult for Mumm-Ra to have known about the Eye of Thundera since the days of Ancient Egypt, unless he felt it approaching. Moreover, it means they’re headed our way right now (and have been for a long time!)! I much prefer a scenario where only a few hundred light years separate Third Earth and Thundera. Damn you, Leonard Starr, and your intergalactic travel!

According to thezaxfactor, 10 years older than he was at the beginning of the trip, and, if I understood thezaxfactor, tens of millions of years could be added to that age.
As far as I’m concerned, he’s 28 and I’m using the CN bumpers.
