Does anyone here know how old OS Tygra is supposed to be? I’ve read somewhere that he’s supposed to be the oldest, and I always thought of him as being in his late forties or something, but my brother seems to think he’s much older than that (while telling him about the new series and how the characters are different, he asked “Is Tygra still old?”). Does anyone know?
It’s kinda hard to judge ages on the OS Thundercats because we don’t know how fast they age. Like for example Jaga was supposed to have been alive for centuries.
Some say Tygra was the oldest, and some say it was Panthro. I think they were in their late 30’s, and personally think Panthro was the oldest one (but could perfectly have been tygra as he was the Head of Council and the wisest of thm all).
Tygra said it himself in “Time Switch”, when Panthro wanted to take baby Lion-o in the Cabvern of Time. He said somthing in the lines of “No Panthro, any of us (I think Cheetara was included) are too old.”
So I guess we’re all free to decide their ages for ourselves, then? I haven’t watched all of the OS (yet, I’m working on it now that I have it on DVD), so I’ll just continue watching and see what ages my brain picks for them in the end.
Back in the ‘90s, Cartoon Network aired some bumpers with the characters’ ages according to them. Unfortunately I was only ever to grab screen captures of Cheetara and Panthro’s, because I taped them while taping episodes on my VCR. I think Tygra was older than both of them, though. I’d place him in his mid thirties at the youngest.

I think someone else might have caught them, because now that I see those, I remember someone posting their ages here, and palced Tygra younger than Panthro.
It might be here somewhere.

I think when CN did the first TC run, he was said to be 29? I always had him in his early 30s, with Panthro flirting with 40.

Oh, I was saying that in my head canon I place Tygra older than Panthro and Cheetara. Not that it was official in any way. My memory isn’t good enough to recall the CN bumpers I didn’t save and capture from. 
I doubt those bumpers are very accurate.
Panthro only weighs 25% more than Cheetara…?
I think the bumpers were there to provide a back story quality. I think the British Thundercat annuals had this info too.

Wasn’t it said somewhere that Panthro was the oldest? Like in an episode? The voice actor was certainly the oldest of the ThunderCats voice actors. My impression of oldest to youngest was… Lynx-O, Panthro, Tygra, Cheetara, Lion-O, Pumyra, Bengali, Kit & Kat.
I think Tygra came off as the oldest because he did things like rub his back when he took a bad landing or if he got up too fast. Which I don’t know if that was hints at ‘old’ or old injury they never had a chance to explore.
Lion-o would rub the arm (I think it might have been Snowman?) you kind of got hinted at arm got broken. The claw shield actually got knocked off the arm and he was holding up next to him. It was one of Lion-o’s rather consistant tells like yanking at his mane.
Pathro always came off as the oldest to me.
Tygra always more came off as ‘I barely surived something and boy am I ever grateful to still be walking around’ type of thing. I think it came with the more cautious approch we saw him employ. Tygra from the very beginning had this air he was very aware he wasn’t immortal.
Centuries? Why? Because he fought with Grune, and Grune was there centuries ago? They were in suspended animation for INTERGALACTIC travel, centuries passing (while slowly aging them all about 10 years) is quite realistic.

Bengali was a seasoned blacksmith, i don’t think he was super-young.
I think Bengali was older than Lion-o, but younger than Cheetara (but really close in age with her).
As a matter of fact, I think the age order was: Lynx-o, Panthro, Tygra, Cheetara, Bengali, Pumyra (she always stuck as in her late teens to me), Wilykit, Wilykat, Lion-o (he only grew up phisically, remember?) lol.
Seriously, I’d place Lion-o between Bengali and Pumyra.
If they were on the ship for centuries explain Snarfer (among others) who wasn’t in suspension before they met up with everyone. Lion-O aged about 10 years because his capsule malfunctioned. So I expect they were only on the ship for about 10 years.
Not to mention being able to travel the same distance without their capsules later on in the series.
This was by far the BIGGEST inconsistency of the OS. It demeaned Jaga’s sacrifice in ‘Exodus’.
The series IS pretty inconsistant, but you just have to assume that pods were pretty common technology for thundarians; when Leah’s parents are rescued, it looks like they may have been in pods. Snarfs are probably extremely long lived. Its likely that only a small number of Thundarians would have access to flagships with intergalactic travel capabilities, so many of them could have resorted to suspension capsules. The TCats didn’t need to use theirs until their ship was damaged, so later in the series, they would have functioning tech and wouldn’t need them - possibly even more advanced than when they started, since by then they have encountered more interstellar species and technology. I never got the impression they were only in the pods for 10 years - even with extremely slow aging, Jaga was unable to make the trip. I always figured he piloted that ship for yeaaaars by himself until having to engage the auto pilot. I always figured they would have needed a lot of time, maybe a couple centuries, in stasis for a damaged ship to make it across galaxies - not stars - galaxies! It also needs a couple centuries for Jaga to have been around long enough to know Grune a couple centuries ago. (Most of this i actually have thought since the late 80s when i was a kid watching it all… i was into some scifi as a kid and obviously had to make some assumptions)… the biggest stretch is having to assume that the 3 new 'cats had to have had, at some point, part of a trip in stasis of some sorts… and the mutants…ages…ahhh, bahhhh, screw it, they just messed up all over the place in this series, but we all love it anyways. gahh it just gave me a headache.
Remember that in later episodes they had an ‘Hyper Space Mega Condenser’ and had plenty of time to adapt space ships for long distance space travel (Panthro had been working on the Feliner for a while…
In Exodus it was kinda a mad rush to exscape the devastation, so it’s possible the ships were not really created for long distance space travel, but they had no choice but to use them as that was all that was available to escape. Remember that they had a pre-planned galaxy to travel to, but couldn’t due to a malfunction after the Mutant attack.
That last bit made me actually LOL
