I like the new Tygra even more than the old one but then again i had no particular favorite watching the OS tapes. I loved the new look they gave him he looks gorgeous but that’s not the reason i like him to beging with, no the moment i really started to like him as a character was when he stepped up and defended his brother. People say he is a jerk and okay so maybe he is a bit of a jerk but like some have said, a LIKABLE jerk. But also a character that is more than you expect him to be and probably will undergo a lot of development on the show.
When he then showed concern for the kids in Ramalak Rising and made sure Snarf didn’t drown while trying to cope with a bad situation and trying to reason with his grieving angry brother trying to be the mature one while he himself must have felt a lot of pain he was no doubt holding in (only to release some of it later in Song of the Petalars) that solidified that he is easily my 1# fav character on the show.
Tygra was my fav in the OS as well, and I like both of them.
You’re right in that, right now, he seems the one with more potential to grow. It’s like the others have been already defined, but with Tygra you still don’t know. I’m not sayig the others can’t grow or change throughtout the series, but I thinkmwe’ll see that in Tygra the most.
Not to mention, I think they might be leaving the ‘mind powers’ thing open to explore since they made Cheetara a cleric.

Okay here’s a quick question for the members of this tread…
IF they do plan to introduce Tygra’s mind ablities.
What would you like to see them carry over? His ablity to cast illusions? His ablity to control fire? Since their shaking things up anyway possibly giving him the ablity to heal? Give him a touch of TK?
I’d love to see them keep his ablity to control fire once it was lit to a certain degree. Just because I remember the firebenders on Airbender and the shots would be awsome.
I’ve posted this in the official episode thread for episode 6, but this thread may be more appropriate.
Of all the things they’ve changed about Tygra (most of which I dislike e.g. the green armour) the whip was looking the most faithful…however I noticed in eps.6 that he only has 2 weights on the end of his whip instead of the 3 he had in the OS.
Though i must admit the weights do look better as small crystals than plain spheres, and IF and WHEN they do start showing it creating fire of all forms then the crystals would seem better suited.
P.S I’m digging the idea of an episode dedicated to Tygra’s backstory and his finding/receiving of the whip
Yeah a few people noticed the different whip in the premiere. I’d stick to just one. either illusions or pyrokenisis. I’d prefer illusions, but I’d want it to still severely wear him out so that he hardly ever uses it.
Though I do wonder what the writers are planning to do since they T-cat’s don’t have their med tech. They did use it every once in a while.

On the other hand… I’d really love to see what Tygra could do if he simply let loose.
In the OS he was all control all the time. Here he’s younger and we might get to see him struggle to control his gifts a bit more like Cheetara had to.
I tell you what guys…If they ever have a cameo with the OS Tygra in the new show (as maybe an old relative or something), same clothing n look…I think I’ll need a trip to the little boys room
Tygra can make you hilucinate can go invisible and with his gun and bolowhip can really cause some serious damage. He has always been my favorite Thundercat and is even better in this series because of the whole Lion-O vs. storyline they got going on for him.
knit picking…but wish he wrapped the whip around him while turning invisible like in the OS, and wish the sound effect was the same, it’s very ‘zappy’ technology sounding in the new series!
Nah, i personally love that he now can independently turn invisible. Just makes him much more deadlier and cooler. Screw the pistol they should have given him a sniper rifle. That would have cemented him as the stealthy ‘bad ass incarnate’ of the show.
I do feel that they need do something with character soon. Either bring back the counselor/adviser role that Tygra had in the original or at least the architect role.
For now, Tygra main purpose only seems to be kind of a deterrent for Lion-O, that he has to eventually overcome. I mean the last episode has Lion- O snidely remark “a tiger that underestimate me” . Just hope he doesn’t end up being the ‘Eric ‘ of the team. :eek:
