Hi everybody, my first post
I watched all episodes last week, I know I’m very late, but in Germany the series will be broadcasted first in the second half of 2012. I probably haven’t watched the series earlier because I didn’t liked the OS very much. I don’t dislike the OS, but I was never a fan. For me it was too much “All for Lion-O and Lion-O for All.”
But the NS is just awesome. I was fascinated from the first episode, now I can’t wait for the next episodes. (And I now think I will give the OS another chance and watch it again :-))
Tygra is absolute most fave character, though I like all characters. I think that Tygra got a major upgrade compared to the OS.
I just read the whole thread, so many things are already said and I don’t wanna repeat everything and just talk about the last episode ‘Between Brothers’ and speculate what maybe happens next.
There is one thing I don’t understand, when they entered the Astral Plane, the elephant said to Lion-O:
“By evening bell tomorrow, you will know a betrayal from your brother like you have never known”
All his visions are always true???
There was no betrayal by Tygra at all. It was Lion-O who said “may the best cat win” in “The Forest of Magi Oar” when the two brother talked about Cheetara, so how can he feel betrayed by Tygra. I don’t understand it.
I don’t take the sword fight in the Astral Plane too serious; they both were under the influence of Mumm-Ra, who wanted to get them to kill each other, but it shows how powerful, awesome and fierce Tygra can be.
I agree with the most of you, I think it was a great idea to make Lion-O and Tygra brother, and I also wonder about how unkind Yaga has treated Tygra. I think it’s possible that he hasn’t received much love as kid. We definitely need more flashbacks 
I really wanna know what happens next. I think if Lion-O will blame Tygra for Cheetara decision, the relationship between the brothers will become worse. In this case I think Lion-O will do something stupid and maybe Tygra will leave the Thundercats for a very short time, but of course he will return and fights again side by side with the others….just some thoughts.
I can only laugh about the discussion that Tygra is a bad guy, I really get upset when I read it. Yeah, he did some really mean things, especially in their childhood at the ruins. But I think that Lion-O wasn’t the best brother as well and did some mean things. And sometime Tygra acted very loyal to his brother, especially in the episode “The Forest of Magi Oar”.
And I sure, they were not only rivals in their childhood.
I know that Lion-O will surpass Tygra sooner or later. I really hope it will be later. ^^
And I also hope that Lion-O will not become the ultimate hero who is better in everything than all other Thundercats.

I don’t think Jaga would really mistreat anyone. He seemed more like the stern, but fair type.
I dont think the betrayal thing is all that complicated.
In the vision Anet saw Lion-O feeling betrayed by something Tygra did.
Lion-O feels like he was betrayed because he saw the girl he feels strongly for, being kissed by his older brother. The same older brother who, in Lion-O’s own words, wants everything he (Lion-O) has.
The sword. Yes it was always meant for Lion-O and yes Tygra wanted it.
The crown. Same as the sword.
The stone. Yes, it was meant for Lion-O and Tygra wanted it.
Here is where it starts to change up a little, hopefully in a way our young hero can learn something new. Cheetara was not his. She was free to make her own choice, and she has spoken.
Lion-O was over confident. He never contemplated that Cheetara might NOT chose him. He was pretty sure he had her romantic interest. He was wrong. His problem? He was so sure of her affections that he already saw her as his girlfriend . I rewatched the camp fire scene in Magi Oar and even then, Lion-O did not sound or look threatened by Tygra. This is once again affirmed in Into the Astral Plane. Even in Between Brothers:
Tygra: It hasnt chosen you yet
Lion-O: I’m pretty sure it will
Was I the only one who thought that wasn’t just about the stone?
To Lion-O, this was a betrayal. Tygra took something that was, in his own mind, his. This of coarse leads to our little lad feeling betrayed. I think some people may be approaching this too logically. This is a love triangle including two brothers. Logic will probably fly right out the window.
This is my theory on it. Lion-O doesn’t see how or why she would go for Tygra. He probably feels like Tygra did something, lied or tricked Cheetara into choosing Tygra.(Remember, he knows nothing of their previous “relationship to one another”) These two are constantly competing, friendly or otherwise. Why wouldn’t he feel like his brother is not above cheating? Lion-O’s biggest falling in this, is his over confidence. He was too sure of himself, but never bothered to ask Cheetara how she felt. DING DING, WE’VE FOUND OUR NEXT MORAL LESSON OF THE WEEK!
IMO, the biggest thing to keep in mind when dicussing the betrayal, is that Anet reported how Lion-O felt. He never said Lion-O would be right to feel so. Just that he would.
While we’re on the topic of the betrayal. For all Cheetara knows, the betrayal happened and was hashed out in the AP. Or, she figured coming clean about her feelings would stop Tygra from betraying Lion-O. Love among other things, can be a powerful driving force. She knows he feels like he’s always 2nd when it comes to Lion-O. Maybe, she felt like admitting how much she cares for him could help him see that this is not always the case.
And before anyone accuses me of dumping on Lion-O, please remember this. Lion-O has the his father’s last words, the crown, the sword , a stone and the loyalty of the Thundercats behind him.

I agree with that idea because feeling like you’ve been betrayed is very different than an actual betrayal.
I don’t know. I think he never trusted Tygra and thus mistreated him somehow. of course, I only got that impression from how he looked at kid Tygra when he took kid Cheetara to the Clerics Temple, and because he never said anything nice about Tygra, so I might be wrong, but that’s the impression I got.
Nice post. Although, I think the confussion comes from how Anet’s words were phrased in two different episodes, and people have not repaired in that.
In “Into the Astral Plane”, Anet actually said that before the bell rings that night, Lion-o will know a betrayal from his brother like he has known before (or at least I remember that this way, correct me if I’m wrong).
It was not until “Between brothers” that his words were changed to “you will feel betrayed”.
The first time, Anet spoke of a fact, a real betrayal; the second time he spoke of a feeling of betrayal. I think that’s where the confussion lies.
I dont think Anet got some full on description of everyone’s relationships to one another. He just told everyone what he saw/felt, which was Lion-O feeling betrayed by something Tygra did.
If all Anet is reporting is about what he saw of Lion-O’s reaction, then as far as he knows this is a betrayal. The fact that he can so easily switch between knowing and feeling betrayed, makes me think we have to be careful interpreting his visions. I dont think their ment to be as “clear” as some think. Which is all too common with stuff like this. For example, In That’s so Raven the lead character, raven was a psychic. Her visions were always getting her into trouble because she usually ended up misinterpreting what she saw, or failing to see the bigger picture.
To Lion-O this is a betrayal, so it feels like one. He is reacting like its one. Anet’s just telling the audience what he saw. I’m betting he didn’t even see Cheetara and Tygra kissing, everything he got came from Lion-O’s perspective. Why doesn’t Anet let everyone know what the betrayal is? Why not warn Lion-O specifically about whats going to happen? Could it be, because Anet himself doesn’t know? He’s just basing everything about that vision off of Lion-O. He said Lion-O would know a betrayal, because he looked and felt betrayed in the vision.
If it does go down this way, then it just leads back to the Lion-O misinterpreting stuff. Back to him not seeing the bigger picture. Which in this case would be his over confidence. His inability to question himself, until he is obviously proven wrong. Old Friends, Duelist and the Drifter and Ramlak Rising. All spotlight how his arrogance has gotten him in trouble.
Yes, I know the whole thing was set up to be misleading. If he said feel betrayed in the first part, then it wouldn’t have been as hyped. Most of us probably would have jumped on the feel part, and right off the back knew it would lead to something like what happened in the finale. He felt betrayed ? Well, was he or not?

After what happened in the AP b/w the 2, I can see that since there is a bit of vital missing information for Lion-O to consider, its no suprise he was shocked. While it is genuine b/w Cheetara and Tygra, to Lion-O- it may seem like Tygra lied and this is how is going to get back at LionO.

Honestly- feelings and such b/w people are really no ones business but their own. But i remember what it was like when I was young. Couldn’t help but not understand thanks to all the hormones! lol!
Hopefully Lion-O can get the history in the next few episodes, in order to help him understand that this wasn 't a betrayal, this was just fate and meant to be. <3
I feel bad for Lion-O…no one likes to walk in, in a situation like that. AWKWARD!

What do you mean by saying that “to Lion-O- it may seem like Tygra lied and this is how is going to get back at LionO.” How come? Lion-o knew they were competing for her… no, actually, it was Lion-o competing for her, he made it very clear and started the whole thing, and he knew about Tygra’s interest on her, so I don’t see the lie. It’s not like Tygra told him “go ahead, she’s yours, I’ve better things to think about.”
Tygra Rules-
With regards to “lying”, I mean that, IMO, I think LionO was shocked and prob thinks that Tygra lied (and betrayed) him after telling his brother in the Astro Planes that he would never betray him- after he saw the couple kissing.
Sorry if that doesn’t make sense, its just how I think of it. :)

That wouldbe a kid’s PoV, IMO. I mean, Tygra said he would never betray him, and he hasn’t. lion-o knew they were “competing” (hate to apply this term to this situation) for Cheetara, he wouldn’t have expected Tygra to make himself aside for him, would he?
All good points and analysis of the episodes. I’m hoping Lion-O walks away and is big enough to accept Cheetara’s decision. He may just take a walk to consider what happened and just might stumble upon Pumyra’s pride. Would be a great lead in to introducing her…well, just MHO

How great was that?
Now I’m sure Mumm-Ra will capture them when they go after the SoO, and that might be due to a mistake from Tygra and then he thinking he’s not a good leader after all and yada yada, but so far he was great.
And the guy loves his brother (I always knew, but this ep made it clear for those who actually doubted about it).
I’ll say this much for him - the dude knows how to take a punch.
Haven’t made it yet to watch the first trial episode, i am keep on wondering where and if Tygra’s latent mind power will be presented at some point in the show.Tygra has so much potential and should be exploited further by the new set of writers. In the original Series in the episode ‘All that Glitters’ Lion-o directs him '“If I do not return, you will be the new Lord of the ThunderCats.”
I believe the writers took this phrase and delved into it, expanding the importance of such an enigmatic character. Hence this whole ‘second in command attitude’ where all the conflicts derive from.
Additionally, in the episode Crystal canyon, Tygra at his dramatic monologue claimed to be ‘shy when being a kid’. Yet again, we see this phrase being analysed further when Cheetara passes him by to enter into the Clerics.
About the love affairs, Tygra had romantic feelings for Cheetara in the old comic books, and finally they become couple.It looks like these two were meant to be together!
To mix things up a little bit, i wonder if Tygra calling Bengali ‘brother’ at the end of the original Thundercats HO episode will be included somehow to perplex the present state to a larger degree. It isn’t clear if they share a true family bond or due to their external resemblance as both being tigers,Tygra just refered to him like that. But i keep my fingers crossed and i wouldn’t be surpised if Bengali and Tygra have a hidden close family releationship, which i would love to see in the following episodes.
