Thirding. Do you all think it’s coincidental that there was next to no interaction between the two; Also Jaga wasn’t shown to ever reprove Tygra or his teasing of Lion-O. Somehow, I find that hard to believe (the look he gave him in the flashback with Cheetara-yeah I’m in agreement with you Rules). I understand that parenting is difficult, particularly a single-parent with plenty of responsibilities outside the home- Conflict is natural between siblings, but I would’ve liked to see some indication that either of those two did something to promote cohesion between the brothers. Especially Claudus, if he knew Tygra had already shown low-impulse control with regards to Lion-O. Maybe that’s something we’ll be shown later?..or alluded to?..I want to basically see how they were a family.
By “fully exhibited”, I didn’t mean we would see/hear Tygra display things that we learned as background or matter-of-fact information in the OS. I meant that he will demonstrate the wisdom, nobility, calm and measurement that typified OS Tygra.

I don’t believe that OS Tygra was a victim of the Producers’ laziness and lack of imagination as much as he was caught in the constraints that governed children’s programming at the time. He was a rather advanced character that could have had a strong arc if the OS had been produced in the mid-90s instead of the mid-80s. As it was, there was really no where to go with him but backwards. Apparently, The Powers That Were pegged that as a losing strategy and bailed on the character.

They could have exploited his mind powers and make him a really interesting character for mid-80s kids.
I think the whole mind power thing came about because they needed something for Lion-0 to go up against in his trial with Tygra. I think it would have been better if they just stuck Lion-o in a maze,and he figured it out: a test of intelligence.

I also think that, that an intelligence/logic test would have been more in character with Tygra, but given that they came up with the mind power thing, they could have used it later in the series, instead of go with the “he doesn’t use it that much because it puts a great strain in him” crap.
Ok, so Tygra is snarky to Lion-O. So what? They’re brothers, and siblings do that. I should know…I have 3. I wish people would quit complaining about that.

I certainly do coming from a huge family of mean brothers I would have given anything to have a bro like Tygra at least he helped Lion-O out of the pit after knocking him down there, my brothers would have walked home, ate dinner and played video games and when asked where I was would have said without a care or hesitation ‘dunno probably still playing at the ruins.’
come on…you can’t be serious about your brothers. no matter how bad they may have treated you, they probably still care for you. tygra’s charater may have been a jerk, but at the end of the day he still cares deeply for his brother. i hope in the next season, they writers would make tygra’s character more accepting of liono because after all they are brothers and they only have each other.
I think we will see a natural progression from strained loyalty to full acceptance. We’ve already gotten a little progress as of the season one finale.
Of course they love me they arent heartless monsters just normal brothers really we are much more malcolm of the middle than brady brunch. Didnt mean for it to sound horrifying just real for how they were sometimes.
Haha. We should start an OT thread devoted to all of the jacked up things our siblings have done to us, each other and we to them. Just so people can see how normal the dynamic between those two are.
My brothers left my sister in a basketball hoop when she was 8 for about 30 mins.
I tied my brother to a chair and shot rubber bands at him. Daily.
My brother left me in a forest with our 6 month old lab because he wanted to see if the dog would lead me back to him. The entire park went into search and rescue. The dog dug a hole and rested until they found us.
I sat on my sisters head in a pool, and pushed her into an ant hill.
My brother ripped the heads off of all of our barbies and melted them.
I punched my brother so hard in the face, I managed to break his nose and busted his lip. I didnt even go to the hospital with him:(

:o interesting stories…so judging from this stories, tygra and liono are just indirectly showing each other they care by acting like jerks towards one another.

I dont mean to say that’s how they show how much they care, its just to say their dynamic is not all the strange or dangerous.
Siblings argue. They fight and say horrible things to each other. Tygra and Lion-O are not the first pair to do so, and they wont be the last.
When Tygra fights for Lion-O even though he doesn’t agree with him, that’s showing love and support.
When Lion-O runs to Tygra’s side after he takes a hard hit, that’s another way he’s showing how much he loves his big brother.
Isn’t that a trope of some sort? It’s pretty common. Now the taunt in the premiere, in front of everyone in the kingdom? Definitely deserved an apology. Shoved down a well- Tygra might have felt he was all right since he went to Claudus and he did not want Lion-O to learn that ever anyway. Apology would’ve been appropriate here too. But a large portion of these two’s problems with each other could be resolved if they simply talked to each other. How likely are we to see that in an action/adventure cartoon aimed at a younger audience? Eventually it’ll happen, I think Magi Oar gave a preview of that, but it’ll be more obvious from their actions I believe.

not if you ask me. Lion-O goaded him into that match. Tygra was trying to get him to drop it and enjoy the celebrations, but Lion-O wouldn’t drop it, so Tygra whooped his butt and rubbed it in his face.
I would’ve done the same thing.
Besides I guarantee no one in the audience heard him. Do you hear football players talk to each other when you’re in a stadium?
i think the reason liono challenged tygra was because he was irritated at the fact that his existence is overshadowed by tygra’s. he felt at that moment he needed to at least prove to everyone that he wasn’t a worthless prince.
This could all very well be true, and it makes a lot of sense. I just dont see why part of the FANDOM chooses to bag on Tygra for winning or accepting the challenge. Sure Tygra was a bit of an a-hole for gloating, but Lion-O wanted to race. Lion-O made a big deal out of it. Did he really expect Tygra not to gloat? They both like to rib each other. It should have been expected.
Isnt it funny how both of the boys seem to parallel each other a lot?
Lion-O feels overshadowed because Tygra always seems one step a head. He’s the preferred prince.
