Tygra Fan Thread

Please and Thank you on the bold. We all get testy every now and then, but slinging venom at people who are just trying to have a healthy discussion is uncalled for. People sometimes are so wrapped up in their feelings that they fail to see the reality of their behavior.

I think its cooled down a lot over the last week, on this board anyways. I hope to see you come back, its a little to quiet over here . If people still want to act silly then they can do so by themselves. Just sit there and stew in all of the rage you’re feeling from a fictional character(s), or over shipping. If someone’s not even going to back up all of their hate with reason, logic or examples then their not worth replying to. They get back what they gave out out.

So any new theories about Tygra ?
Anyone think he’ll go ahead and pursue a romantic relationship with Cheetara ?
Anyone think he’ll do the “noble” () thing and decide not to, because he thinks it’ll distract Lion-O away from the mission at hand?

After BB I have a feeling the dynamic between those two (Lion-0/Tygra)will change a little. I think he’s come to terms with a lot of his anger in the Astral Plane. Not to say they wont snipe at each other, but I doubt it’ll be the same.

  1. I agree :frowning:

  2. I think people who need to trash Tygra to lift up Lion-o is feeling really insecure about him (Lion-o); why else would they need to bring down another character just to bring up their favorite?

I have no theories about Tygra, mostly because the producers haven’t bothered at all in showing us any aspect of him so I can’t say how he will act or think or feel in the future.

I do think though he will stay still in his relationship with Cheetara. To me, Cheetara mader her choice and that issue is closed and they will go on, maybe with a problem or two, but I don’t think Cheetara will break up with him.

Although (I was thinking this yesterday) divorces are so common nowadays that maybe producers will try to give some message there to kids: it’s ok to split up and still be friends. Those are my only worries. But that’d be too mean to Tygra I think.

Also Chique, I think their relationship will change after BB, but I’m not sure how much. If you watch the episode again, look carefully right after the AP exploded: Cheetara, Tygra and Lion-o got down, and when they got up again, Lion-o and Tygra sent each other a really intense, not nice at all look.

I honestly see the brothers getting worse before they get better honestly. It’s going to come down to a huge fight, and Lion O will have to prove his dominance. it’s going to be ugly and hard to watch, but it’s going to have to happen, no way around it.

I try not to bash, because Tygra was always one of my favorites of the classics and I’ve tried really hard to like the current one… but I have point out the faults in Tygra I don’t like, because compared to the old series characters he’s the most removed, the whispered complaints at everything Lion O does was snarky at first but has gotten old quick. after rewatching some of the older eps of the original Thundercats I have to say the original Tygra would wipe the floor with the current one for how he’s been acting.

Though classic Lion O would do the same to current…

With the two Cheetara’s watching the butt whoopin’s while shaking their heads and muttering “Men…”

With due respect… try harder  (at least in the Tygra Fan thread ;))

We all know it’s a fact that Lion-o will get better than Tygra, so why to bash him for something that will turn around sooner or later?

I do agree in that, of all the chartacers, Tygra is the one that suffered the biggest change, and I do think producers screwed him a little, but I still like him the most in the NS, even when he’s so different from the OS one, with just glimpses of his previous alter ego.

I’ve reached a point with the Tygra bashing from the Lion-O supporters where the negative feelings I feel towards the bashing and those who bash has started to rub off on Lion-O. I like Lion-O, but whenever I think about him now I also think about his rabid supporters and their bashing of both Tygra and Cheetara, so just thinking about Lion-O now makes me feel angry. I think I’m going to leave the fandom before it gets worse, because I don’t want to dislike Lion-O. The other characters play such small parts in the series that it wouldn’t feel worth it to continue watching if I didn’t like Lion-O.

I think Tygra and Lion-O’s relationship is going to change. I think what happened in the Astral Plane made Tygra reevaluate his feelings for Lion-O, and after telling him he would never betray him, I think he’ll make a greater effort to support him. It sounded like a pledge to me. But he’ll still challenge Lion-O and his decisions, because people don’t change completely just like that. I have a feeling that Lion-O is going to complicate everything after the kiss, though.

I have no idea what’s going to happen with the Cheetara/Tygra, but I’m praying that the Lion-O supporters don’t get their wish and Tygra “lets Cheetara go because Lion-O needs her more”. Just the thought of it makes me want to gag.

hey gang i dont mind seeing people giving there viewpoints on different charachters their likes and dislikes, all a matter of a opinion.
i dont wish to see anymore bashing of members as ive seen a few of those and that needs to stop so lets have fun and thats to discuss the series in a polite and discreet way

I’m confused. Are you saying we’ve been bashing members in this thread?

to be completely honest I like both pairings for Cheetara, and as long as they make it believable and entertaining I’m game. All I ask is they work Tygra closer to the Tygra I always loved to watch as a kid. as I said someplace else being with Cheetara might get him closer to that place. If that’s the case, I can deal with the loss of Lion O/Cheetara. It’s just hard to be a classic Tygra fan and see what they’ve given us so far on the show. It’s irritating to see a character I know could be a loyal, strong willed, zen champion of the Lord of Thundercats act like he’s been acting. Tygra could be the best of um, but they’re letting him dwell on his own demons and I’m afraid they’ll eventually make a semi-bad guy out of my favorite classic character. I just don’t want that, period.

Anyway, there’s really no point in bashing characters for other characters, and ESPECIALLY no point in bashing other forum members for like a character you may not. I survived the great Harry/Hermione/Ron wars in Harry Potter fandom, as well as the pairing wars of Digimon, I really, really don’t want to see it get that ugly in this fandom. I admit I am a 100% fan of classic Tygra, and I am a fan of who New Tygra could become, but I’m not liking where he is now. We’re just at the end of the first quarter so I’m still hopeful for him to be the hero I know he can be.

I’ll close with saying let the crew tell the story they’re telling and enjoy the parts we like, critic the parts we wish were different in a nice polite way, and let it go and enjoy the show. Who’s with me?

I completely agree with the 1st paragraph, that’s how I feel and it bothers me because I don’t want to hate Lion-o. I don’t hate him now and don’t want to hate him later.

I also agree with the bolds, and Lion-o has to learn that challenging him doesn’t equal to betraying him.

Again, with this I compeltely agree.

Tygra was a great character in the OS, and this one is so different. Still great, but nothing to do with the OS one, and I can see how some people could get frustrated at that. I get frustrated myself from time to time

[/B]

I would gag something furious with you. I wouldnt like it, but I could see him letting her go not because lion-O needs her more, but because Lion-O is refusing to be ok with them and its complicating them getting what they need done (which would only last for like an ep or two). A little like Sango and Miroku from Inuyasha. He had clear intentions with her, but he didn’t want to be with her until the mission was over.

I agree about the brothers having tension, but I do think it’ll level out a little. I think BB’s biggest accomplishment was helping Tygra deal with some of his personal demons. It’ll be there, but I dont think itll be as prominant as it is now.

Oh yes, it’ll get worse before it gets better. Lion-O is going to be a bit discombobulated and out of sorts. I can imagine we’ll get a nice screaming match or something. I have no idea what to expect when it comes to CHeetara’s side of it:confused:

I haven’t actually been reading much in this forum so am unaware of character bashing. Although for me personally, it doesn’t really bother me to read people bash a character any more than it would bother me to read people gush over a character I don’t particularly care for. I regard them as other people’s opinions and find that they don’t influence my own opinion. Other people’s opinions that don’t match my own really don’t bother me, especially in regards to fiction. My opinion is based on what I see in the show.

I must admit that this doesn’t seem like the right thread for this discussion. Should not this thread solely be for the purpose of people who like Tygra to discuss what they like about Tygra? Perhaps a new thread should be started to discuss this subject and leave this thread alone for people to gush over Tygra. Anyhoo…

Thanks Code much appreciated but I think we are done venting and back on Tygra from what I can tell.
I can wait to see how Tygra acts now with Cheetara by his side Im thinking itll mellow him out quite a bit.

He’s finally gotten something he’s wanted which will probably do his self-esteem some good. Plus he had that revelation in the last episode that he really does love his brother and is loyal to him and I think that self-realization was also very important for him. Both those things I think, and hope, will mellow and mature his character.

I think some conflict will remain because of Lion-O’s unhappiness over not getting Cheetara. I just hope they don’t draw the brother’s conflict out for too long because they have enough enemies to deal with in the series without having the annoyance of fighting with each other.

I do wish in the last episode that they would have compared Tygra with Grune because Grune was Tygra’s hero since he was a child and was likely the man he most wanted to be like when he grew up. I feel the show has fallen short in developing that character story for Tygra that I think fans would love. I wish at the beginning of the season we could have seen Tygra reacting to Grune’s initial betrayal hard, then when he came up against Lion-O in the Astral Plane to have seen perhaps a vision of Grune and then to see himself and then when he rescued and saved Lion-O, to also see that distinction that he is not like Grune. I hope that made sense.

Word, sister

Word 2

And, word 3 to all that

I have edited the first post to put in a set of new rules that apply to all “Fan” threads. Please take a moment to read.

Thank you.

I believe that by the end of the series you will see the OS Tygra fully exhibited in the NS Tygra. Keep in mind that NS Tygra is only 19/20 years old; he still has a lot of growing to do. And the road to get to where he will likely end should be fun and engaging to watch. Enjoy the journey.

I’m a classic Tygra fan and I’m enjoying the current Tygra to pieces. He’s fun, deep, and complex. Part of the problem with the classic Tygra is that there was no where to go with the character, he was already fully developed, and therefore dull and flat. That’s why there are several OS episodes in which the only sight of Tygra is in the opening credits. It’s also why TPTB brought in Bengali.

People are bashing because they are lacking perspective and taking this stuff way too seriously. That bolded part is what everyone needs to keep in mind. We are watching someone(s) else’s vision of the Thundercats and need to judge the series on that basis. All this bashing and negative nonsense is rooted in folks wanting to impose/superimpose their own vision, and that just makes for miserable Johnnies. Enjoy the show for what it is and continue to watch, or don’t and walk away. It makes no sense to get twisted in a knot because a product from the wonderful world of make believe.

Yes, but OS Tygra claimed he was shy since he was a kid, so I don’t think the new Tygra will turn into the OS Tygra, at least not completely.

I agree and disagree… I never found the OS Tygra dull and flat, but can see why some people think that way about him. Producers’ fault if you ask me, their laziness and lack of imagination didn’t let them take Tygra to his best. I agree they brought Bengali to, slowly, take Tygra’s place.

I feel like talking about how much I like Tygra. He is one cool cat.
I can see familiar flashes of bitterness in him. It reminds of when my older brother and I were younger. My bro was at the age when my dad would really start to but him to work, things like mowing the yard and such, and I, being younger and a heavy sleeper, often got left to myself. My bro and I aren’t far in age and he didn’t hide it when he though I was being lazy or spoiled. I can see now that I was lazy and spoiled at times (he was too) and I wanted to be comparable to him. Even though I’ll never as physically strong or have as good spatial reasoning skills, I clearly have him beat in several areas! In fact, I’d say I have beat him in more areas than he has beaten me…absolutely, maybe.
Anyway, my point is that I don’t find Tygra to be as bad as I’ve seen some viewers have found him. In fact, I find him competent and cool. I know Lion-O has dealt with bitter-big-brother-itis since he was a kid, but that doesn’t mean Tygra isn’t right when he’s right and wrong when he’s wrong. Lion-O should consider the advice of experience when it’s given from anyone, instead of assuming that Tygra is just disagreeing to disagree. Lion-O is going to be king and one of his best qualities is his open-mindedness, but he still needs to open his mind to his brother. It’s funny how I can’t talk about Tygra without bringing up Lion-O, it’s their bitter sibling relationship I love.
I’ve seen a lot of talk about how Tygra took everything from Lion-O. I guess the impression from the first episode was that Lion-O isn’t the favorite/most respected, and that means he has nothing. It’s a shame that no one took Lion-O’s theories seriously, but they died for it. No one’s happy about it. Tygra didn’t coddle Lion-O, no one did, and what point would that have served? Humor his techno fixation, sure, but that wouldn’t change their beliefs. If they didn’t believe in it then they didn’t and, through they’re beliefs, thought Lion-O was wasting his time. That’s not anyone’s fault…or it’s everyone’s, I dunno.
I feel I’ve meandered. Anyway, how cool is Tygra? Love that guy.

100% cool

I think the main problem is these series are rpesented to us through Lion-o’s eyes (much like the Harry Potter series, where youn know almost nothing about other characters and their PoV if not for Harry and how he saw them). We’re introduced to other characters through Lion-o’s eyes, and it’s because he sees his brother as nothing but full of flaws, tham many viewers see Tygra that way as well. I’m sure (actually, I hope) that when Lion-o starts seeing TYgra with other eyes, viewers will as well.

Of course, we already are there

If Tygra is guilty of something, is doing what he was expected to do; yes, he might have been a lamb if you want to, but not a bad guy. In his mind, and in his tradition, things worked that way.

Also, how would he embrace what he didn’t know (technology)? It’s absurd IMO to expect him to be interested on it.

And (YES, I’M FINALLY SAYING IT), I thing great a part of the responsability on why Tygra is like he is falls in Jaga. My guess is Jaga was weak towards the alledged underdog (Lion-o), and never really cared, liked and trusted Tygra.

You noticed how Jaga looked at him when he was just a kid taking Cheetara to the Clerics’ Temple? He almost swept Tygra with his eyes, and he was just a kid; and I’m sure Jaga perfectly knew what kid he was: the prince, son of Claudus.

Also, I’m pretty sure Lion-o learned about technology through Jaga… how else? Jaga was old and wise, he knew about Thundera’s history and all that. I’m sure he was the one who told Lion-o about technology. Why didn’t he tell Tygra about it as well, both to make him believe and support his brother, and also to show somw interest on him.

People keep saying Tygra was Claudus’ favorite. I disagree. I never heard a warm word from Claudus to Tygra, as he did have to Lion-o. I think Lion-o was the favorite in the bottom, just that Ckaudus didn’t consider him the best choice for the throne (that doesn’t necessarily take his place as the favorite); and I also think Lion-o was Jaga’s favorite as well. So, at the end of the day, Tygra was no one’s favorite, unless you count Grune, wo was away for years.

partly agree and partly disagree.

I think there is a story there with Tygra and Jaga, and it’s likely not Tygra’s fault at all. I have an itchy feeling Tygra will end up being of the same mold as Marvel Comic’s Loki. I don’t mean as the psycho arch enemy of Thor, I mean the son of a rebel against Claudus who Claudus took in as a political adoption. I personally theorilize that Tygra was Claudus’ pick to be the next Lord. He obviously was taught all the ins and outs of being Lord, strategy, etc and who could have taught him all that besides Claudus himself.

Jaga on the other hand, being the Chief Cleric was in tune with the Sword of Omens and likely knew from the moment Lion O was born he was the one destined to hold her (started calling the Sword her because I’m fairly certain she’s sentient) between that and Tygra being a Tiger could have led to Jaga’s mistrust. seeing how Tygus was the most loyal to Mumm Ra in the flash back it’s possible that the Tigers are known to be rivals to the Lions.

It’s also possible that all the Clerics have the sixth sense and foresight Cheetara was known for, Jaga could have foresaw some flashes of the conflict between Lion O and Tygra and miss-interpreted it, not unlike how Yoda turned his back on Anakin Skywalker when he was likely still had some salvagable good.

so basically I too think there was some fault and ball dropping on Claudus and Jaga’s parts.
