I had to ask as I feel this is something I might have missed. How is it possible Tygra is also a child of Claudius while being a tiger while having a lion as a father? And they even make a big deal about it that he has no claim to the throne b/c he is not a lion while Lion-o despite being younger, does because he is a lion. Sorry if this is a stupid question but was there an explanation given of this?
Tygra is not biologically related to Claudus or Lion-O. He is adopted.
Ok thanks, I figured this was the only real explanation possible but I have watched the first few episodes twice but missed this somehow. Can you tell me where this is mentionned so I can have a look?

Yeah I distinctly remember that scene, but without thinking about it really I just kinda assumed he took after his mother so he turned out as a tiger, but lion-o had the bloodline of the KING (lion) and that gave him first right to the throne.
(to my knowledge if a king adopts an orphan, the kid will be the king’s ward not like a real son that would call lion-o his little brother, as was the case in the show Merlin and from what I have read about it)
If it was never explicitly said in the show he was adopted, that explains my confusion then
That´s the thing. It was, even kids understood it most cause they did not look the same and cause kids figured out Lion´s were the “kings” of the cats.
By that i´m not calling you stupid. I just dont remember but i´m sure it was mentioned somehow.
Well that is what I have been asking, if someone can point me to the exact moment where it was stated explicitly
EDIT: because I made the (wrong) assumption based on what I saw. Although it makes sense to me, you never really see hybrid thundercats (like half lion half tiger or something), they’re always a distinct animal, and there are quite many different species of them - this lead me to assume that even if 2 different species of thundercat have kids, the kids will be either the species of the father or the mother, kinda like in real life if a mother has blonde hair and the father black, the kids can have either of that. Like, if Tygra and cheetara marry and have kids, what will they be like? Hybrid tiger/cheetah, or will some be tigers and some be cheetahs?
also i dont think the creators ever think THAT much for the lore of the show.

You can’t realistically mix two species/breeds of animals and get the exact same breed of only one of the mixes, genetics don’t work that way. I was very glad when the series first started they decided Tygra was adopted and NOT a hybrid of a lion and tiger mating because I’m not one to buy that he could have possibly turned out completely tiger looking, its just not realistic, like a german shephard and golden retriever having pups, you are going to get some mixes, not some purebred shepherds and some pure goldens, doesn’t happen that way. That said I’m sure other cats could be hybrids out there, I know in the Wildstorm comic series Tygra and Cheetara’s cubs had sort of a splotchy striping, a mixture of spotting and stripes. You also forget taking into consideration whether blonde or black hair is dominant or recessive in that particular family you may get even a combination hair type bordering on brown, neither black nor blonde!
Eh I am not trying to refute it, just saying what my first interpretation was. And yeah I know it is not real genetics, more like kid-show genetics because we don’t really ever see hybrids. But whatever, let’s just forget it, I’m not trying to argue this, was just my interpretation at first.

He is a bengal tiger though, not a regular tiger.

I’d be willing to bet Tygra is a Siberian, I thought about that a lot in OS, but the proof seems to be the snowy mountains and the wide spacing of stripes on Tygra and the wide expansion of white on the neck and chest extending very low is more common in Siberians than any other subspecies, but I MAY just be thinking too much on it…
I´m retarded. Are there different kinds of Lions aswell? Probably here, but are they that different like from a white tiger to a “normal” tiger? Maybe the lions genetics are more stable.
Well, Pumyra is based on the puma, or “mountain lion” but they’re not “true” lions, strictly speaking. There are about twelve recognized subspecies of lions, mostly African, but there are a few Indian Lions.
