You aren’t retarded I’m just a nerd, I wanted to be a zoologist for a long time and yup lions have different subspecies as well, lets see there’s the Asiatic lion (smaller than most Africa lions), the Barbary Lion (extinct) West African, the Masai, the Cape Lion (extinct) Transvaal Lion (carries the gene for leucism/white) but rarely happens, the Katanga (they tend to have the very best manes and that’s not all of them.
White tigers are normal tigers, genetic mutation aside. I’m assuming Bengali is a Bengal tiger ( his name), and speculating that Tygra is a Siberian.
I’ve also heard of “white” lions though it’s just a lighter coloring, not a genetic mutation.
It is indeed a coloring CAUSED by a mutation. The white colour is caused by a recessive gene known as the chutiya or color inhibitor gene, different from the albinism gene. Coat color of those affected vary from blonde to bright white.

I’m not very familiar with Tiger taxonomy (or any animal for that matter) so I read up on it on wikipedia. As far as I can tell, we can’t really tell what subspecies of tiger he is because they all look pretty much alike, so it’s probably fine to just say “tiger” (Panthera tigris), heck he could even be a bengal tiger, they’re all consistent with his looks. Bengali however, is clearly a white bengal tiger (Panthera tigris tigris) so he can’t be directly related to tygra.
And there are subspecies of lions, based on the size and shape of the manes and such, but even scientists agree this is pretty meh, any lion is mostly just a lion.
Meh, I’m still convinced Tygra is a Siberian tiger they are one of the only tiger types that tend to live in the snow until the creators say different I’m calling him a Siberian. To be honest I really don’t want Bengali to end up his brother, its just too predictable for me.
I’m with you completely. It would just seem forced if he was his brother, never mind as we have all said earlier they are two different species of tiger!
The only white tigers exists are bengal tigers and usually the cubs of a litter are all white or all have the regular tiger color, because the gene for the white color is recessive. 
I don’t think that Tygra and Bengali are brothers.
Bengali would be written as a distant cousin of Tygra’s.
Or why not - shock and horror - an interesting character in his own right with no familial relationship with any of the thundercats and no romantic interest in any of them either?!?!

They could be. All Bengali tigers are not white, rather Bengali tigers ARE NOT WHITE. It’s just a mutation (or what ever you wanna call it).
So yes, both could be Bengali Tigers and be brothers.

I would love to see Bengali but as a character of his own who isn’t defines by his relationship with any of the thundercats I think we’ve met the quota for siblings already with Lion-0 and Tygra and Kit and Kat which is why I’m so opposed to Bengali as Tygra’s brother though if they had to go there they have the opportunity to play that dynamic well.
After “Native Son”, I think they made it clear Tygra was an only child, so he’s no brother of Bengali. And even if Bengali was born after him, he would have died as all the other tigers.

But BENGAL tigers ARE a different species than many of the other tiger species!!! It is never specified what species tygra is but from his clan it can be reasonably assumed they are NOT bengal!
