Brian has posted on IG a new video walkthrough of the Thundertank. In the video, he mentioned maybe there being a top secret samoflange. Now this could be a joke reference to the show, but I was curious if anyone know the episode where Panthro mentions the “blasted samoflange”. I wanted to see if it was shown.
There is no visual for a samoflange, nor any indication what one might look like, unfortunately. There are flanges in some tank designs, if I recall, but samoflange was just a made up utterance with no relation to those. I assume tongue-in-cheek, but if not, the way I would do it is make a utility box with a ‘samoflange kit’ on it. Of course, the box would be solid plastic and thus not accessible. That would provide the reference but preserve the mystery.

That’s a good idea, but it could have just been Brian trying to be a comedian.
My guess was correct: Samoflange to be included with Ultimates Thundertank!

I always assumed he was referring to a part and not a tool. This just looks like a wrench.
Also regarding Brian and his “jokes”, haven’t forgotten about the Lion-O isn’t coming to visit for my birthday “joke”.

I’m impressed that they took the initiative to create a samoflange. It is one of the much mentioned quirks of the show, given that WTF outtake. I’m stoked that they made it. Yes, it looks like a very fancy wrench. Maybe that’s what it is. In the cartoon Panthro tells Lion-O to “keep your foot off that blasted Samoflange” - whether it means its a pedal or a tool that’s in the cockpit for whatever reason, it’s still fun to speculate. Agreed. If we nitpick a fictional item that never appeared on the cartoon and is only shaped by imagination…
You’ll want to watch episode 64 The Shifter for the infamous line. Panthro and Snarf personalities are switched in this ep. Snarf in the body of Panthro is trying to maneuver/drive the tank unsuccessfully with Panthro as Snarf giving driving instructions under extreme stress as his tank is being abused. It’s entirely possible Panthro is referring to the samoflange as a break or clutch of some type for Snarf to avoid putting his foot on. It’s also possible it’s a tool that Panthro threw on the drivers side front seat that made it to the floor with Snarfs rough driving. For me it’s fun to think their is a tool that Pantho uses that’s finicky and problematic and he’s sick of fixing it. Including a pneumatic power wrench with caution tape instead of a round flange or foot petal is more appealing for playability or to throw in anger anyway.
Or we could just ask Matthew Malach the writer for the episode what he intended the samoflange to be.

I don’t think it should matter. People all perceive things differently. Different things have more value to others, irrelevent of whether it is factually right or wrong. There’s no arguing if the original source confirms what something was intended to be. That will always be something’s intention. A silly example is how some parts of the world never knew about the new TC. To those kids, they never existed and they may not care whether it is factually correct or not. It all comes down to your experience and what you knew at that time. Values are based on lots of things. I thought Pumyra’s toy was Willa as a kid. I never knew about those 3. And I argued with anyone who said it wasn’t her. I was wrong but I didn’t know or care. Today I cherish those memories and as a grownup I laugh at it, and because I’m open minded I don’t go against my original beliefs about that figure being Willa. I know its not her. And because I did research into who she was I know accept her as part of the lore. Still others won’t and it is perfectly fine. So in short, it shouldn’t really matter. We all see it differently even if it isn’t factually right.
@Mumm-Ra that was a good idea to contact Matthew Malach about the samoflange.
Yesterday I contacter Matthew Malach on Facebook and asked him about the samoflange and what he intended it to be.
This what he had to say about the samoflange in our conversation.
“I’m pretty sure it was just a fancy word, utterly meaningless.”
So he didn’t really intend for the samoflange to be a part or a tool.
So I guess it’s pretty cool Super7 added the samoflange as a cool extra for the fans buying the Thundertank. 
I think this post might have the most use of the word “samoflange” in the whole forum.

I’m probably reading too much into it, but I think it’s interesting that they’re calling it a “samoflange,” after the blooper, rather than a “somoflange,” as written (and spoken in the episode). The right context for “somoflange” would be something underfoot. But the right context for “samoflange” is just “WTF is a samoflange?” I think leaning on the blooper gives Super7 permission to be ridiculous about it. Hell, I wish they had gone more ridiculous—Seussian, even!

That is a very good point, i think.
In the episode it seems to me to be referring to an element of the tank itself that is directly contributing to the problem of driving it. If a wrench was causing the problem, don’t leave it by your feet while you’re trying to drive! Why not just remove it if that’s contributing to the problem at hand, and if it wasn’t causing the problem it seems an odd mention without any other context given.
On the other hand, he does say “wtf is a samoflange??” but not “wtf is the samoflange?” which likely indicates it being a singular object, like a wrench".
Either way, despite the wrench being wrong in my eyes, I’m very happy to have a prop for Panthro if I want pose him working on the tank. A welding tool would have been better with the goggles, but oh well, it’s something that expands the display options. (Shrug) I’ll take a mislabeled thing, thanks Super7!
Who cares what you call it, all I know is Panthro is going to use that sucker to smack some sense into some dirty mutants.
