That’s a bit weird. The Thundertank doesn’t come with a steering wheel. I could’ve sworn it has a steering wheel in the cartoons, other than the normal driving and vehicle logic. :00

Has anyone seen the box artwork yet? What do you guys think of it. Mummra is almost as jacked as me standing in the background. And for some reason pumyra has taken the kittens place in the back.
Overall not bad, I like how it has an LJN look to it.

The proportions of the tank are off and overall the image looks a bit too busy with so many characters. The focus should be on the vehicle. The background and colours are nice though, quite like the original LJN art work.
I love the artwork. I get why the kittens are missing and am very happy it includes Pumyra - finally some loving going her way. Also pleased to see her new weapon. To those asking why, it seems that the characters here represent W1-3 and that makes sense. I love how it matches the vintage LJN art. This also works great with the ReAction artwork. Good call to link it all up.
The artwork is terrible, lacks dynamism, uninspired, listless, has compositional issues, proportions, perspective, etc… the vintage illustration far outweighs it.
Pumyra shouldn’t be there, they should show the main team as seen in the animated series and not depend on the Super7 checklist, that’s ridiculous. Now was the time to put Panthro behind the wheel, like the real Thundertank driver and they didn’t either.
Bad decisions everywhere. If there is so much conformism in the fandom, Super7 will always do things wrong.
The box art is confusing to me. I do like that it is in the LJN style but just everything going on it is confusing. I understand why they used the characters they did and I am okay with that. But why Lion-O driving? If the answer is because he is in the original box art, ok but it was only a one seater in that. Not having Panthro there is a real missed opportunity. What are the Thundercats attacking and shooting at if Mumm-Ra, Slithe and Jackalman are to their left? Who is it that Tygra is pointing at in front of them? Why is Pumyra the only one to notice them? Something as simple as having Cheetara pointing the blaster in their direction I think would have made the scene much more logical. If this was only a piece of a larger picture it would make more sense to me. Mumm-Ra not having the cape is kinda strange to me especially since Super7 is releasing him with his cape. From an art standpoint, it is much much better than I could ever do so I will not knock it. It is just everything going on in it, I don’t understand. It is almost “too busy.” Perhaps I am nitpicking but i feel as though for $450 everyone has the right to nit pick. If this were a $100, it would still be confusing but hey its only $100. But for something calling itself “Ultimate” the bar is raised.
I disagree. Where and in which rule book is it stated Pumyra should not be represented? If you saw the full series you’d know as a whole she IS a ThunderCat in the end and deserves to be there. Excluding her because you expect the original team is simply discriminating. If Bengali or Lynx-O replaced her the same argument would’ve applied. Saying Captain Marvel is not an Avenger is frankly insulting, irrelevant of WHEN she joined the ranks in real time or movie time.
Super7 makes decisions we don’t always understand until we see the full picture. In a few years a lot will be clearer and things will make sense.
Bottom line, these are toys, no need to get angry about it. Yes sure I’d have like K&K in there because of the original core team, but really, did you moan in 1985 because WilyKit was not in the original promo art and because WilyKat sported her stripe instead?? It is what it is. I still wish she showed up but I still love that iconic art. Suggestions are welcome but this in my opinion is taking it a bit far. Enjoy what we are getting. Stop putting it down. If you don’t approve that is also fine. You have every right.
There are very good questions in here. The art is a topic that evoked many questions. I wonder why it looks like the team us simply driving past. Are they driving away? Are they heading towards another danger? Who knows? It would be good to ask the artist or S7. I wonder if there is more art this flows into? What a great conversation piece.
Yeah, say there is a larger picture and perhaps the fistpounder or Castle Plun-Darr or the Rat Star is the main thing in front of them that they are attacking and Mumm-Ra, Slithe and Jackalman are “sneak attacking” from the side, then it clears up all the confusion and its a fun piece of artwork that is showcasing a battle with items Super7 has released. I’m all for that and hope that is the case.
I think the criticisms I’ve seen are valid and while I have already purchased my tank (because box art was never a factor), this art is indeed a misstep. The choice of only using characters from current waves means the choice won’t make sense over time. Ultimately, art is subjective but it is frustrating to feel like the company doesn’t even actually care about this property beyond squeezing out nostalgia profit. I just want, once, for companies to trial balloon some of these choices. Or hire someone who is a genuine member of the community.

Speaking as a Pumyra fan, I really appreciate seeing her featured in the box art—I agree that wanting to adhere to a Season 1 definition of the “core team” is rather unfair to the New ThunderCats, whom I adore. That said, I really am not digging her angry face or the new weapon.
As for telegraphing future box art plans, I think it’s wishful thinking to conclude that this is some sort of MOTU DVD spine mural situation that will span multiple boxes. But who knows?!
Yeah i dont think we will ever see this box art as part of a larger picture. Its just wishful thinking so that the art would make more sense to me overall. I also agree that I like Pumyra being on the box. I am a fan of Pumyra and the New Thundercats as a whole. So, its nice to see her on it.
The main team, the intro team, I don’t see Pumyra there, anyway. I described the overall issues in the illustration and you didn’t refute any.
Tell me it wouldn’t have been amazing if the boxart had an epic artwork in the Tsuguyuki Kubo style instead of a poorly done drawing.
I think the forums @Wilycub could have produced an amazing piece of art for the packaging.

I love the art used. I understand not everyone approves. It’s ok. Wilycub would’ve made a fantastic piece of art too. He is VERY talented. I’m a big fan of his work and talent.
They’re probably shooting at Monkian. He is the true thorn in the Thundercats’ side.
Really nitpicking the art. It looks good, and it really channels the vintage. I love it. I don’t give a shit if my box art was designed by a battlefield engineer, that’s dumb. Have some fun, this is a great vehicle with a great box.
