It seems that all over the boards there are people talking about what they disliked about the season and how it “failed”. I’m tired of it. This show completely blew away any and all expectations I had for the reboot of the show. I was one of the people that thought they were going to ruin everything Thundercats created and was from the 80’s. But this cartoon did not do that. It took everything that was great about the 80’s cartoon and took it even further.

There is so much speculation as to whether or not we are gonna get a second season, and yes I want there to be one just as much as anyone. But everyone needs to stop worrying about things that we are not going to find out for months. We can talk from now until December as to whether or not it will be back. But we don’t know. Let’s everyone stop fighting and take a little but to reflect on EVERYTHING that this season (if it is indeed the first and only) did and what we LIKED or LOVED about it. I know everyone has their problems with certain things on the show but ya know what…its a cartoon, and it will never be perfect. So STOP COMPLAINING!!! Let’s take time to enjoy and remember what made us this passionate about this series.

So I started this thread so everyone can talk about what they liked about Thundercats Season 1. Whether it is something big, or something small…this is a thread where you can share what made this show connect with you. KEEP THE BICKERING OUT OF HERE. EVERYONE HAS THEIR OPINION AS TO WHATS GOOD AND WHAT’S BAD. RESPECT THAT

There is a ton about this show that I loved. One of the small things that spoke the most to me in this series was how the artists/designers kept the original color scheme of every Thundercat and even the placement of the Thundercats insignia on them was the same as the original. That is the kind of stuff in this series I loved. They showed great respect for what made the original great. That is including the fans, and they did what they could in little cameos or dialogue that the OS fans would love and know. Little things like, to me, were the threads that made this show really strong. There are tons of other things I loved so I’m sure I will be posting in here frequently and I hope you do too.

I loved everything. Every episode was awesome and I enjoyed it more than any show I watched.

The series has certainly had it’s highs and lows, but to say it “failed” is just stupid. I enjoyed most of the season and I’m happy we got a good reboot unlike some other IPs.

yea, i can’t tell you the last time i would voluntarily wake up saturday mornings to watch ONE specific cartoon. I think it was realistically back in the Spider-man,X-men,Static Shock days. Don’t get me wrong there were some episodes that i’m not too big of a fan of BUT if i had to do it over again i will still wake up to watch them all.

There’s no way in hell this show was a failure, and anyone who thinks so is a nincompoop with bad taste. It was an outstanding success in terms of storyline, character development, drama and depth.

It’s hard to say what I liked best about the show, because there were many facets. But my personal favorite would have been the backstory with Leo in “Legacy” and other episodes. It made the show something more than just a bunch of random characters plopped in a magic world. It gave it history and gravitas. Alan Moore once wrote that “history has an architecture” and I loved that this series embraced that idea.

I was terrified by this reboot idea when it was first announced, but they certainly shut me up. - even from the first episode, making everyone think Panthro turned on the Thundercats. EVERYONE said to themselves “No way”, and then introducing him as more of a badass then he ever was…amazing.

I couldn’t have said it better myself. and in Legacy, with the cameos!!! just the hint of possibly intermixing Silverhawks and Tiger Sharks into the Thundercats world got these boards blowing up!! I even started collecting their merch (just in case :cool: )

same, I have the DVD’s but as long as its on the TV. I will watch it. Every little bit helps. If they replayed the season in its entirety it could open up a lot more fans to the show. All the fans that came when it came to saturday morning could be missing a whole lot.

Great thread. This series is absolutely awesome. I just bought season 1 book 2 on DVD and will play it over and over on a loop until book 3 comes out! I’ll watch the repeats as they’re broadcast too.

I’m confident we’ll get the next season’s episodes. :cheetara:

Oh - and the teamwork in Tower of Omens was one of my favorite scenes. I never get tired of watching it

The show has been nothing short of outstanding. I can truthfully say that out of all the reboots of cartoons from the 80s I watched, T-Cats ranks very high up there in terms of quality, if not number one. The only other ones I can think of that come close are GI Joe Resolute & the first few seasons of the 2003 Ninja Turtles.

Creatively, the show has been a full success and surpassed any and all expectations I ever had for it.

Anyways, Top Ten Episodes:

10 - Berbils = I love it for straight up comedy. Aside from what they’ve done with Pumyra, including the Berbils is probably the gutsiest thing this show has tried. They made them even more obnoxiously cute than they were before and it crossed the bridge and made them awesome.

9 - Birth of the Blades = It followed “Curse of Ratilla” perfectly in tone and gave us a furthered history lesson into the creation of The Sword of Omens and the Sword of Plundarr. I also loved the tension, the action, and the interactions between Lion-O and Mumm-Ra.

8- Between Brothers = The mid season finale provided a lot of action and gave us some payoffs to things that had been building for a while, namely the Lion-O/Tygra rivalry and the Panthro/Grune feud.

7 - Old Friends = It was the episode that established the Panthro/Grune rivalry and fully integrated Panthro into the team. It was great.

6 - Journey to the Tower of Omens = It was probably the best display of the T-Cats as a team in the entire series thus far, from their trek to find the Tower of Omens to their first real battle with Mumm-Ra.

4-5 - What Lies Above Parts 1 & 2 = I know it just happened, but yeah, I am going to rank this two parter that high. It was exciting and just provided one surprise after another. It also gave us some fantastic payoffs towards the end, making it an excellent season finale.

3 - Curse of Ratilla = This is probably the darkest episode thus far with the emphasis on slavery and an ancient curse causing death to all those near by. In addition to all that though, it was a great reimagining for one of my favorite villains from the classic series.

2 - Song of the Pedalars = The meaning of life as told to us from the flower people! I thought this episode was going to be absurd, but ended up having a powerful message, and a sad ending even though one could guess it was coming from the start. Also, we got Panthro’s debut and it was awesome.

1 - Native Son = Heartbreaking episode and very emotional, but that’s what gives it its resonance. It answered a lot of questions about Tygra that I’ve had since episode 1, and did with so in a dramatic and touching way.

Now if I had to pick the weakest episodes, the only one I didn’t particularly care for was “Sight Beyond Sight”. Aside from introducing the elephants, it didn’t feel like anything really happened. The next step above that would be “Ramlak Rising” and “The Soul Sever” which were OK, but probably could have been better.

I have loved every episode of this show and truly hope that it lasts to at least 100 episodes.

But personally, I really enjoyed ‘The Pit’ (don’t like how Pumyra turned out, but she is still th best BA character I know next to Korra, and Rogue) and I also thought ‘Native Son’ was really heartbreaking - to have someone go through so much I feel like it truly made Tygra a 3-Dimensional character.

As fo least favorites - I kind of am going for ‘New Alliances’ - it just made Lion-O depressed that his first crush loved someone else, and made him feel bitter by the end. But an opinion is still an opinion.

But all in all, every episode had it’s place, and I think that’s what made it great. we better get a season 2 =D

I’ll rank my top five - I couldn’t go beyond that because it’s like picking my favorite Scotch, they are all so good.

1. Legacy - This was the episode that blew me away and made me a fanatic about the series. A vivid and powerful re-imagining of the Thundercats universe that is full of history and deep themes that set the tone for the entire story.

2. Native Son - the emotional high point of the series and a truly brilliant story, perhaps the most flawless animated episode I have ever seen. It’s only No. 2 because it’s all about Tygra. :slight_smile:

3. Tower of Omens - overall the most balanced episode, where the entire team contributed. Awesome scene of Tygus recovering the War Stone. Also the last episode where the mythical Lion-O/Cheetara ship seemed to be in full swing, so it has a wistful nostalgia appeal for me.

4. Birth of the Blades - fierce action, the interplay of past and present, and the bitter/tragic relationship of Lion-O and Pumyra on full display.

5. Song of the Petalars - this was the very first episode of the new series that I saw and it got me hooked. Like Native Son, an emotional high point that dealt with mature themes of life, death and the meaning of it all - a great example of what this series is capable of.

I think when we say “this season” we mean this arc of episodes . which I was disappointed of by the lack of over the top action . but don’t get me wrong :slight_smile: this was an awesome season , and if you are asking about T-cats as a whole to this point then I can state so many things I loved about it that won’t have room in this little box , and the things I disliked …I can count on 1 hand .

but here are 3 things I loved about this show and hope to se more of :slight_smile:

The theme of life and death

for a show that is aimed for kids this is a topic that was dealt with from episode 1 . Lion-O losing his father , and whole kingdom . we have Mum-Ra who is a living mummy (the ever living ) then jaga died and his soul is trapped inside a book . then we have plant people who only have a 24 hour lifespan , but in a way , their existence is endless as they are “reborn” all the time . then we have Lion-O dying and getting another chance to live . the tiger clan being living ghosts held under a curse . the sword of Plun-darr is made of a living star . we had the Soul sever who wanted to put the souls of his loved ones into machines . and now we got Pumyra being some sort of a vengeful soul od a dead person .

This is no coincidence as it plays a big role in the core of the series … and and I find it fascninating as it made me think about death not being infinite

[U]The creativity

[/U]man , when I first told people that my new favorite show is about cat people fighting a mummy that has an army of lizzards , they thought I dropped on my head :stuck_out_tongue: this show has so many bizzare things , but they are done with such charm and they actually work , as you can still take this show siriously . lets see what we had to this point … hmm :

Fish people , that are pirates , with a ship and all , voyaging a sea of sand , and chasing a plant squid . plant people witha lifespan of 24 hours . a bunny that drifts in the wind , people that fight with paper , elephants with memory issues , a robot that uses his head as a weapon , genious robot care bears that live in a candy land of some sort , a magical bag that has its own astral plane , a butterfly VS a dinosaur (even if it WAS a tribute to godzilla and mothra) and alot of cool things that aren’t necessarily WEIRD nowdays , like that robot driller , android gream reaper looking guy , the designs of creatures overall , and of course : power-ranger style TRANSFORMATIONS (which I can’t express how much i freakin like :thumbsup:)

And there must be a few things I forgot , or just took for granted , bt my point is that it looks like the creators had alot of freedom in this , and they had alot of fun . and as an artist myself this is just great stuff for me :smiley:

The action

While it did have a small drawback in the latest season (where they were too short , or non existent until the season finale …) the fight scenes in T-cats were SUPERB . with characters , although very detailed , moving in every angle you can thing of , and the camera zooming in and out , in fast peaced action . this was such an andrenaline packed show with my top moments being :

Tygra and Lion O fighting in between brothers , the mecha fight in Legacy between armoured Lion-O and Mum-Ra . and the fight against the Wood forgers at - forest of Magi oar . and in this season - the animalistic outbreak of Tygra’s father when he defended him . the punch Lion-O gave to Ratar-O , the backflip and cutting rocks sequence at recipie for disaster . and all of the season finale :thumbsup:

The cameo’s in this season to me were yet one of the other small things that made season one amazing!! As I was thinking back, these were the ones I could recall…Am I forgetting anyone???

Well if we’re talking cameos, one of the birds in Avista during “What Lies Above” Part 2 looked an awful lot like Zaxx.

He was only show in a wideshot with larger group of birds. If memory serves me right, he is shown as Mumm-Ra is making his proposal to Avista.

as long as there is a season 2, I think that Lynx-O’s re-introduction to the show will be epic. I hope at least. After the hype that was built with his cameo he deserves to come in in a big way. Just like how everyone was waiting and waiting for Panthro. We have now gone a whole season DYING to see Lynx-O. if ( and when) season 2 happens, Lynx-O is going to be a major player.

Favorite episodes of S1?

Now when Season one has come to an end, which episodes was your favorite? I’m having trouble to narrow it down, so i’m going to ask you to make a top ten list and explain why those episodes were your favorites.

As it’s 03.25 in the morning here where i live i’m going to bed and will update my post later on with my own list.

Also with this post i wanna thank everybody through my time here on Thundercats Lair which next month is gonna be my one-year anniversary (Sneaking this in).
