Agreed. 
If only WB could see that only true ThunderCat fans are able to write good ThunderCats stories, then we wouldn’t have any problems.
I, also, thought of a secondary character that should be in a ThunderCats Novel: Hachiman.
Hachiman was always one of my favorite secondaries.

It’s not that WB writers are bad by any standard. I’m sure they are exemplary writers. It’s just that for a studio like WB, Thundercats is just ONE of their properties so naturally they are not going to devote all their time and efforts into it. So even if they hire one of their best writers to work on a TC novel, he/she might do a fair amount of research and then jump into writing it. But the TC universe is so vast that it is quite possible that the writer will miss out on a number of small things.
TC fans on the other hand, know the franchise like the back of their hand. So the amount of research required will be less and also since they are not working on multiple projects (like WB writers usually do), they can focus all their time and efforts into this one novel.
But I doubt if WB will ever hire a fan to write/draw any official work as there probably must be a lot of legal ramifications to such an action.
A novel about Jaga’s time with Hatchiman on the planet of the red sun, how they met, and their adventures together would be interesting, and canon too, because of the Jade Dragon episode.
So many ideas that’ve not been explored on the show can easily be expanded upon in fan fiction and publishing.
Well, a TCats fanfiction novel series has been something that Ocelli and I have had percolating in our heads for over a decade now. The problem is finding time to write it (although since I’m unemployed at the moment, I guess now’s as good a time as any!)
We’ve obviously had plenty of time to develop the story and how to end it. Not to mention using it as a jumping-off point for at least two more “arcs.”
The idea was to set it btween 5 and 10 years after “Book of Omens.” Everyone is a little older, with Lion-O especially being more mature, having grown into his role as leader. But he still yearns for his days of adventure on Third Earth.
Basically, I wanted to do all the things that I had wanted the OS to do, but never did (although the NS did a very good job of addressing the issues I had with it). I wanted it to be more epic, and have a better sense of internal continuity and story progression.
I basically wanted to tell a big war story, with Thundera and its allies on one side and the Mutants on the other. And making it even more epic with revealing that the ASOE and ASOG were both manipulating events behind the scenes, going all the way back to even before the events of the OS.
I didn’t want to use the old villains like Mumm-Ra, though, as I felt by the end of the OS that they weren’t threatening anymore. So I came up with a new villain named Slithor (where I got my username from) who would shape up to be a legitmate threat, and ultimately attain a power level equal to Mumm-Ra.
I looked to elements of some of my favorite TV shows and movies that I grew up watching for inspiration. The biggest influences were Star Blazers, Star Wars, Stephen King’s The Stand, Star Trek, Babylon 5, Aliens, the old Battlestar Galactica, and Flash Gordon, with maybe a little of the attitude of Heavy Metal. I wanted to still keep things PG-13, though and not make it too adult; and make it feel as if there was a sense of danger and that characters could be killed.
Of course, the question becomes with all those influences, could it still be considered a TCats story? I think the answer is yes, provided you stay true to who the characters are and use them appropriately. All that’s been done really is raise the stakes and give the story a bigger canvas to play out on.
Those are some pretty amazing ideas you came up with.
I havent gotten into the fan fiction yet as I am still working my way through the comics, but that really sounds interesting and would probably give me the push I need to start reading.
