Does it matter? We still dont get a “SECOND SEASON CONFIRMED” nothing has changed until the day before this happend.
Hopefully the hold up is the fact that they’re shopping around for new merchandise and promotional partners. This is under the assumption that Bandai is out of the picture…(?)
They are not. We have several things confirming they are not.
Sure it does, because it means that if there was a green light for a second season there would have been a more coherent answer than what you heard. What was presented here was more like a politician trying to change the subject when pressed with a question they’d rather not answer.
At least someone said something at Comic Con. It just sheds more light on how poorly CN is handling the series. I’m sure this won’t sit well with the head guys at CN, showing that most of the crowd loved it and were very curious to see the future of the series. I just hope CN takes this to heart to realize this show does have a following and that they shouldn’t give up on it just so they can air repeats of their crappy shows more often.
Basically CN ether hasn’t decided the shows fate or they have givin up on it and just don’t want to say so publically.

Even if this news is on the vague side, it’s better than nothing at all, and it quells the rumor about the show being cancelled. I agree with Lordore: we’ll probably know more from Thunder-Con.
I’ve played some of the Ultima games from way, way back. I thought the best until now was VI: The False Prophet. I missed-out on VII, because at the time I didn’t have a computer that met or exceeded the system requirements, and I was just a poor college student then.
Personally, though, my favorites of the series were the two “Worlds of Ultima” spin-off games: The Savage Empire and Martian Dreams. They had the Avatar in them, but beyond that and some mentions of the Moongates and Lord British, they had little or nothing to do with the main series. But they were still awesome RPGs in their own right.
If you’re having problems running those games, all the Ultimas, including the games I just mentioned, are available on GOG.com for very affordable prices (Ultimas IV-VI can be gotten in a collection for $5.99, as an example).
There’s also a program called Exult that was made to run Ultima VII parts 1 and 2 and made numerous tweaks and fixes to them.
Also, check out Spoony’s retrospective on the series. Very informative and very funny. But seeing as how Spoony is also an entertainer, it’s best to take his views with a grain of salt.
Looking back, it would have been better if the PTBs had just done 52 episodes and aired them sequentially without breaks. They had scripts and voices. Leaving the true fans hanging at episode 26 is just the pits, but not uncommon, even in anime.
IMHO, I believe this incarnation of the series is done.

Your right on CN handling it poorly, but the audience there wasn’t the show’s target demo, so to them it makes no difference.

I also think it’s done. It just seem weird they have to wait so long. Either it’s already made up there wont be new episodes or they are fighting for it. What ever it is right now it STILL DOES NOT LOOK GODO!
Maybe it’s best if we get a brand new series, possibly new toys to get this franchise on a popular track again! The best thing about the 2011 series was the story telling and most of the reincarnated enemies (Kaynar/Ratar-O my fav). Unless your a true fan of the series, a lot of episodes were kinda dull IMO =(
If a new series is done it should be more engaging to the audience…also NO cyborg arms Panthro = silliest thing ever!
I think business wise, Bandai & CN have contracts that have to be fulfilled regarding the toy lines and airing the initial series of episodes. Once these are done, then they can finalize the cancellation.
It would be nice if they could one long episode to finish the story arc for those who have enjoyed the show. That might be in the realm of possibility, and prudent for business.

Most folks know that I did not care for the new series storytelling on many levels. So I agree with you that the series should have been more engaging. IMHO, the original series had one thing the new series lacked: Heart.

The problem with the show, as I see it, is the same as we had with the Masters of the Universe remake: A Cartoon Network show designed to be heavily dependent on toy sales. And as history has shown us, toy lines tied to Cartoon Network programs just don’t sell (MotU again, Secret Saturdays, Generator Rex).
Really, that is the only problem. I think one of the main problems (not necessarily for us) is that the show is almost too dark to have a toyline. I’m pretty sure a 6-year-old wouldn’t understand most of the plot, and considering people get killed rather often in the series, parents could be second-guessing themselves on the show. I know the Toonami theory has been brought up and shot down several times, but the show should have never been put at the sake of the toyline. They should have just left it as a show, because the show is doing rather well. The ratings were about the same as Young Justice (no toyline for that show, may I add) and that got a second season.
I think “the show not having heart” and “filler episodes” are completely stupid and irrelevant excuses for them not being sure about the show’s future. It’s not like it’s the first show to have filler, and it certainly wasn’t the worst filler. It really only had about 2 episodes if you take filler as having absolutely nothing to do with the plot. Hell, The Legend of Korra had filler, but since it has a shield from being criticized in any means because it happens to be related to The Last Airbender series, it doesn’t get any criticism. People have tried to rip this series a new one just because they wanted it to be as good as the OS, and it far surpassed it, no matter how much your nostalgia wants to deny that.
I’m tired of irrational negativity on threads saying at least a glimmer of good news. It’s not getting us anywhere just giving in and saying there’s no hope. takes deep breath and waits for hatred to commence
There has not been any good news for the show so far in months. Korra is also getting criticised very much but you dont see it right here.
I also agree it’s not really a toy driven shows. Those shows mostly needs to show everything in every episode, like weapons, characters, vehicles etc. Just like the OS and how PR works.
I know it is, but all the hardcore fanboys/girls are defending the finale of Korra with their life. I personally hated it, but anyone who watched the series could tell you the finale could have been better, whether they enjoyed it or not. However, these people say that it was perfect in all sense, and no show is. Not ThunderCats, not Korra, not even The Last Airbender. To say any show is perfect is an opinion.
But when it comes to negativity about this show, it’s for all the wrong reasons. People blow up slight little flaws to make them seem like they destroyed the series. I personally think most people criticize it because the story didn’t go the way they wanted it to, though. That seems to be the reason behind most people’s complaints.
I’m going to watch it later this week.
