ThunderCats movie script by Sopocy coming

Someone seems to have secured a draft but complete version of Sopocy’s script and they’re offering it on ebay. I’ve put an offer in for one, and will pay full price if necessary so that we can put this up on the site.

Couple things:

MannyF can you check with your contacts to see if this is the real deal? Maybe its best to wait for me to confirm that I’ve received a copy before you contact those guys as they may decide to have it yanked if they find out.

Kyle or someone else with adobe pdf writer, can you apply a T-Cat watermark to the pdf pages so that we can put this on the site for fans without just having it ripped by every other fan site or movie site on the net?

Lastly:

I’m going to promote this on facebook , digg, reddit and with a number of news sites. Help spread the work and digg the story up with me so that we get as much traffic as possible to the site.

Thanks all!

I got it if. If everyone can post their email here i will email it to you. Can someone post an announcement on the front page and perhaps watermark the entire pdf document before uplaoding. It would be good if we have this up as quicklly as possible

grizzlor@thundercatslair.org

Wicked!

Chris here…

I’m he-fan@thundercatslair.org, and would love to read the script - holy hell, MannyC, that is an amazing thing to get! I don’t know how we keep pulling off stuff like this, but however we do it, long may it continue!

BTW, sadly I don’t have a PDF writer that would allow me to watermark every page - I can create images with watermarks and export them as PDF’s (at least, I think I can), but not to create a whole document. :frowning: Would suggest asking either Kyle or MannyF (or indeed MannyC), as I think they’re the guys who would have it out of the team!

Take care…

The script is either a good fake or the actual draft

I think this is the real deal. The phone number on the front page is a cell phone in California. We should blank the phone number out on the version we post on the site.

The script is awesome:

  1. No Snarf (he would be ridiculous in the movie)
  2. A purple skinned Panthro
  3. Claudus and Grune are in it (at one point Claudus tells Grune he’s not fit to be called a cat)
  4. Cheetara has a thing for Tygra

And I’m only on page 26

By the way, I think no matter what we hear from our contacts who worked on the movie we need to post this script. It’s already up on ebay, it’ll soon be on all the script sites and the cat is out of the bag now so this goes on our site no matter what.

Guys im sorry but I do not have the resources to watermark a pdf document so unless someone else can do it i am afraid that we wont be able to upload it

Got it covered Manny. I’m creating a page to host this now and will update the front page too. It’s a beauty of a script… would have loved to see this movie.

Will post the link soon

In that case, thank god it never got made.

Snarf is a part of Thundercats like Orko is a part of MOTU.

and Panthro has always had blue skin in all toys and media of the character. At this point I hope we never get any new cartoons or films cos they will just spoil it.

I’d be content with getting new toys similar to the MOTUC, based off the Rankin/Bass cartoon and LJN toyline.

Panthro has grey skin Neil!

I put the story on the front page and hastily created some shoddy looking html pages to go with it.

If anybody has the desire and wherewithall to improve on what I’ve done I’d love you for it. I wanted to get this out there before anybody else could so I kinda did it all in a rush.

Added the story to the special features page under cartoon category: http://www.thundercatslair.org/cartoon/special/index.html

That page got screwed up with the image file built into the header and I couldn’t repair it.

Also if anybody wants to improve on the watermark used in the actual pdf file and knows how to get rid of the annoying branding that the program i used inserted on the front page you’d be a legend.

But the important thing is we got there first and scooped the world on this! Thanks Manny for pulling the trigger on this.

Chris here…

First of all, well done everybody for getting this online so quickly!

Mark: I got your PM on Facebook. Do you still need me to e-mail over the PNG file that Kyle created as a custom TCL watermark? Let me know, my friend, and it will be yours!

I must admit I haven’t read the script as I’ve been out for the evening, but hope to tomorrow!

Re: HTML, if you remind me I will gladly take a stab at re-doing the page - the HTML contained within the page you’ve done is easy to recreate and will probably only take me 10 minutes or so!

Take care…

Chris, if you could put some cleanup into those two pages that’d be great. I’m satisfied with the watermark as it is now on that pdf file and don’t think we need to change it.

Maybe the most important thing would be aligning all of the text on the second page to the left (it is centered and I couldn’t change it). But the link centered looks better IMO.

If I can work up the courage tomorrow I plan on calling Paul at the number on his script to see if he’d be available for an interview with Nick and to confirm that this was his script.

Manny F when you see this could you ask your contacts (especially Jerry) whether this is the real deal?

Chris here…

The clean-up job is done! http://www.thundercatslair.org/cartoon/special/moviescript/sopocy_script.html

I left the text centered so you could see it - I think it looks OK as it is, but can easily change it to justified text or left-aligned text by changing a few small bits of code.

Your HTML editor you’ve been using actually makes it hard to clean-up these pages - I actually had to recreate these almost from scratch (just using the TCL site “framework”) because it was the easier of the two options…

Looking forward to TCL 3.0 getting rolled out, as that should put an end to all these sorts of problems!

That’s amazing, Mark - you’ve got more courage than I would have even just thinking about doing that, LOL! Hope it works out, and let me know if I can be of any further help, my friend!

Take care…

Yeah was thinking of his costume! I must be losing it! :panthro:

Good work getting this up

Just got done speaking with Paul Sopocy. Was pretty cool.

He couldn’t really comment much and said things can be very political with Warner Bros and he doesn’t know how copies of the script could have gotten out there.

But he said he’d see if he can get the okay to do an interview with us about his experience on the movie. He didn’t sound very committed to doing it to be honest so I wouldn’t expect much. But I’ll follow up with him.

I’d love it if you guys would read the script and post any positive feedback you have about it on the forums as I plan to link him to the conversation in case he is interested.

I’m convinced this is the real deal script though as the number I called went straight to his cell phone in LA.

Take down the script NOW!!!

Guys, talked to Manny via e-mail re this request from WB. We don’t need to move on this immediately and we want to work this request to our advantage slightly by making a few connections with people at WB who manage this property.

Do me a favour and leave this up till Sunday, I’ll send a note back and try to make some new contacts at WB. Will be doing this in conjunction with a note I’m sending to Paul Sopocy who I’m convinced alerted WB to this post by us.

This is a good thing for us. We’ve confirmed this is the real deal script, we’ve been put on WB’s radar and we can build some relationships here if we play this slowly.

No rush, let me see what I can get done here, will keep the team updated.

Checked with a lawyer friend and there is no risk to the site of not complying immediately. We can take a reasonable amount of time to get back to them (up to 5 business days)

Cheers,
Mark

Guys I think we should take this down ASAP. We don’t want to get on WB’s bad side. I emailed my contacts about the script, but I’m not getting any responses. It’s probably because they don’t want to be linked to us if the situation worsens.

There is a reason why I have been very cautious about the information that is given to me.

It’s in the site’s best interest to take down the script. If anything, we can summarize it and post it.

Chris here…

I did wonder if this might happen posting this up without authorisation but didn’t like to say anything - I wondered if, because we were uploading something that MannyC had actually purchased, we would get away with it for that reason (in the same way that all the concept art from the movie has been able to be uploaded and circulated around the Internet), but obviously not. :frowning:

This sucks! :frowning:

Unfortunately I won’t be able to take the script offline because I’ve got to go out for the day (in the recording studio for 10 hours) and should be getting ready instead of typing this - but, hopefully one of the others on the team has the FTP access to do it if needed…

Take care…

Hey Manny, we do need to take it down but not immediately. It just has to be taken down in a reasonable amount of time which is usually considered 5 business days. Let’s capitalize off of it a bit longer.

And we won’t get on WBs bad side, this our chance to get on their radar and make some contacts there. We won’t be taking any chances by leaving it up a day or two longer.
