Breaking news, courtesy of Larry Kenney, as posted on the front page of our site! 
“One of the most exciting revelations made by Larry in his interview was confirmation that the rumoured ThunderCats movie, to be produced by Warner Bros, is actually confirmed, with the script having been purchased, a director hired, and production due to begin in February! Larry does not yet know if he will be involved with the movie, but stated that he has been in contact with Warner Bros representatives who have confirmed that, at the present time, the movie is scheduled to go ahead!”
Something I neglected to mention when I posted this on TCL’s front page is that Larry has also confirmed that the movie is going to be CGI animated!

OMG, that is great, Chris! Oh, I swear, Larry has to be the sweetest man on the planet to share this news! If he nabs the Lion-O role (which I think he should, and I know I’m not alone in that opinion!), it’ll be a happy day for him and for us! And I hope Warner Brothers has done the intelligent and researched the T-Cat fanbase. If they have, they’ll know beyond any doubt that Larry should do it; he’s the only one who can and the only one fans will accept as Lion-O. 'Nuff said!

Chris, after a 22-year wait I became Larry’s admirer the second I found out that he was Lion-O and Jackalman. I don’t get podcasts because I don’t own an iPod, but Larry said enough to satisfy my curiosity. I don’t e-mail him because I don’t believe in intruding on his privacy, which may sound weird, but it’s how I feel, so please understand.
And he slipped into a few certain characters during his interview? Oh, golly, I wonder which ones?
Just look at the podcast like a radio recording. I think the term podcast could confuse a lot of people into thinking that unless you own an ipod you wont be able to listen to it. Once you download it as you would any other file you can play it on Windows Media Player just like if it was a regular song. Hope this helps

Like MannyC says, the term “podcast” is slightly misleading - whilst with some podcasts the only way you can access them is through iTunes, with ThunderCast we’ve set these up a variety of different ways so that all ThunderCats fans can access them, regardless of whether or not they have access to iTunes or an iPod!
If you click on this link here: http://www.thundercatslair.org/thundercast/Thundercast/Entries/2007/9/25_THUNDERCAST_LARRY_KENNY_SPECIAL_EDITION.html - that should take you to a page where you can just press a button and it will (after a few seconds loading) play you the entire ThunderCast episode!
If all else fails (and assuming you have broadband Internet), if you like to PM me your e-mail address, I can e-mail you the file, which if you’re able to play soundclips of any type on your computer should work perfectly for you!
To be honest, I’m much the same - even though Larry’s been easy enough to contact online for many years, I actually make a concerted effort not to e-mail him unless there’s a specific reason, for just the reasons you mention. Someone once told me that Larry gets roughly 2000 e-mails per day, a large number of these from ThunderCats fans - but, at the same time, Larry has always encouraged interaction from ThunderCats fans and seems to genuinely love to hear from them - I think he’s being sincere when he says how much he loves getting e-mails about ThunderCats and hearing from fans, so, if you ever did fancy to contact him I actually think he’d love to hear from you!
LOL, you’d be surprised which ones - a couple that I’m certain you would be able to guess, but also at least one surprise that I thought he pulled off fantastically!
Don’t forget, if you need help accessing the podcast, LMK - knowing what a big Larry fan you are, I want you to hear it!

But if Larry does encourage communication with the T-Cat fans, then there’s no doubt in my mind that he enjoys hearing from them. And from what you’ve said, Chris, I’m pretty sure that he actually loves the fans. Why else would he encourage them to write to him?:cheetaraveryhappy:

Seriously, the one thing all of us who’ve spoken to Larry seem to get from him is how much love and gratitude he has to the fans of ThunderCats - I genuinely, sincerely think he means it when he says how much it means to him. When we spoke to him last night recording the podcast, he spoke of how touching he finds it when he gets e-mail from people telling him how much ThunderCats has meant to them and their lives, and particularly cases where the show helped people through unhappy times in their lives and in their childhoods. Larry is an amazing man, and we are truly blessed to have him as part of the ThunderCats online community!

Great Interview/Lousy Reception
And I have now heard the interview, Chris. It was pure Larry through and through, utterly enjoyable, but that terrible distortion of his voice and Neil’s made them sound like robots! You guys have to correct that problem because Larry and Neil were hard to understand at times. And you don’t want it to happen again in future interviews. 
I knew that you and Neil were Brits, but I didn’t know Kyle was. It was a happy surprise. Hey, now I know what you three sound like!
Where did you get the ThunderCats theme music for the broadcast? I’ve never heard that version of it before. It’s very dramatic.
While Larry’s talk was delightful, it didn’t have the casual pace of the AndCream interview he gave last year. This time he sounded like he wanted to do it fairly quickly without hurting anybody’s feelings. Maybe it was because the interview was being conducted so close to Larry’s dinnertime? Hey, just asking.
And, yes, Larry got Vintage’s real name wrong, didn’t he? It’s Daniel, not Chris!

I definitely know what you mean about the recording quality of Larry’s interview - unfortunately what made that tricky was that, due to a technical issue at his end, we basically had to conduct his interview by dialling his cell phone, which of course is a weaker signal than a landline. Add in to that equation that he’s being dialled by someone in the UK and that makes the signal weaker still - sadly there was nothing that could have been done about it, so the three of us took the decision that something was better than nothing!
Not sure what you mean about distortion on Neil’s voice, though - I would have said that the recording of his voice was as clear as a bell. :?
Yep, indeed you do! Hopefully you didn’t find hearing what I actually sound look too traumatic! (Only joking!)
From EternalKnights on these Boards - he created a beautiful orchestral version of the TCats theme, which we asked him if we could use as the theme music to the podcast. Isn’t it awesome?! Somewhere on here there should be a thread where he posted up a link to the whole thing - it’s quite long, and features several pieces of music from the series (not just the main theme) - it’s well worth hearing!
shrugs I have to hold my hand up and say I haven’t heard the interview you reference - the only thing I’d say is that, with trying to get the sound quality to optimum, we actually had Larry on the phone for over an hour and never felt hurried, even when his wife started calling him for dinner. We did also call him at the time he suggested, which is why we had three Brits all calling him at 1:00am in the morning, LOL! So, I have to say I was pretty pleased with the way it came out - I just thought it was awesome of a busy guy like Larry to give up so much of his time to speak to us!
I have no idea, as rather embarrassingly I’ve always just called him Vintage! Although, at least I don’t call him “Vulcan”!

You had him on the phone for over an hour? Well, I stand corrected!:oops: It could be that’s Larry’s natural way of speaking. He was right at one point where he said he’s used to this. I should know; I saw those prior interviews, among them his casual e-chats with fans that Purrsia conducted on her site. How many new spins can you put on old answers to familiar questions? He certainly managed to do just that. Ah, the creative gift at work!
Thank you for explaining the distortion problem. I didn’t know Larry was speaking on a cell phone. Neil did sound distorted at the beginning, when you introduced him and Kyle, but you’re right, he did sound clearer as the talk progressed. I guess we can only wait for modern technology to fix this problem of distortion when you talk to someone overseas on a cell.
I don’t think the broadcast lasted for over an hour. Did you edit the interview?

We did edit a little bit out, yep - there was also some pre-interview chat where we called him, said hi, and explained what we were going to be doing, and there was also a moment in the middle when his cell phone battery died and he had to go downstairs and plug it into the charger! After finishing the recording, too, we did also spend a minute or so saying goodbye - I think the running time of the episode itself is something in the region of about 50 mins…?

Poor Neil did get picked on by Larry a lot, but it was all in good fun - Larry joking around with us really helped to keep it relaxed!

Do you guys have any future plans to interview Lynne Lipton and/or Peter Newman? Or Gerianne Raphael? Those would be marvelous follow-ups to the Larry Kenney interview.

I tell you, if I could get hold of any of those fine folks, I’d die a happy man! Unfortunately Lynne and Peter tend to keep quite a low profile, and consequently are not the easiest of folks to contact - I have to hold my hand up and confess that I’ve never tried to get hold of Gerianne, although needless to say I would love to get the chance to speak to her!

I’m sure these people have reps you can contact if you can get their phone number. But I’m not surprised that Lynne and Peter fly under the radar. On the DVD interviews, both of them struck me as being quiet types. I now tend to think that the other surviving castmembers have left it to Larry to be the unofficial/official ThunderCats spokesperson, which makes sense.
