[SIZE=3][FONT=Calibri]That being said, while the series sits on the shelf on official “hiatus” all does not necessarily have to be lost. While I’m personally not one of the ol’ skool fans that is/was completely sold on the “reimagined” heroes of my youth, WB definitely caught my attention with the new characters, namely Tygus and Leo. Although they may need to re-evaluate their future approach with the vintage Cats – getting things “just right” requires a delicate balance of the right elements which is easier said than done – I for one am far more accepting of Leo, Tygus and the blacksmiths that forged the Sword. I´d rather have a mini-series that finishes the story of the show. We know enough about Leo and the others. It would be fun with more but we don´t need it. What we do need though is an ending.
I would be more interested in then concentrating on a reboot series done correctly…but a mini-series of 3-5 episodes would be nice to finish the series for those who did like it.
Ooookay? Would you guys like fries or hasbrowns with that miniseries, muffin? Come on! Other than Dan and maybe Matt, who the heck is gonna actually heed to anyone’s “order?”
I’m sick of us throwing coins in the well that is WB and insist on them doing something about it, but they will not. It’s like me asking them to rewrite/edit issues that were with the main female characters. They as a whole are not gonna do nothing about it and that includes a mini-series. :shrug:
I’m sick of it as well, but let those people who do believe do that. What right do you have to take that away from them?
I’m pretty sure the show wont come back, i’m also sure a new TC show, movie or anything wont happen for another 5-20 years. But people can still have hope right?
sigh I was having a bad day (this month is “Attract Idiots Month” for me,) the Day of the Cynic, when I written that post. Yeah, I am thinking it’s probably not going to come back.
Well, if you’ve been following recent news, there’s a ray of hope of sorts.
This week the creator of the show Veronica Mars, Rob Thomas, and its star, Kristen Bell, announced a Kickstarter campaign for a new movie based on the show. The amount of money needed to get WB to greenlight the project was $2 million. And they reached it.
In 11 hours!
Now, I’m sure a lot of people in the industry, especially WB who is CN’s parent company, are sitting up and taking notice of this. And I can’t help but wonder if in the wake of this, Norton might be contemplating a similar move in starting a Kickstarter campaign for fans to pony-up the money to finish the series? And I think it might be worthwhile for the fans to suggest it to him if he hasn’t thought of it already. Seeing as how WB saw how quickly money could be raised for such a venture, I’m sure they’d be receptive if Norton asked them.
I have seen suggestions concerning a kickstarter campaign for the TC reboot already. I’m a bit surprised that one hasn’t been offically started yet.
As to people in the industry sitting up and taking notice of this, I have to say I find it highly doubtful. When the series The Pretender was canned for the last time, fans came together in droves with enough donations to cover the production of the final episodes. To date, the final episodes have yet to catch a green light even though fans still demand it.
Just because the money can be raised for a show doesn’t mean the studio will do anything.
As to Dan Norton, he announced about a week ago that he is leaving WB. Whether his leaving is his own choice or a studio dismissal we don’t know but the thing is, even if he did start up a kickstarter campaign, I doubt he would have any creative influence or studio pull to really get results. IMO we’d have a better chance if someone like Will Frieldle started the campaign and pushed WB to run with it.
WILLLLLLLLIEEEEE!!! pretend huggles Would be a neat idea. He is the good luck charm of animation and VAing. He seems like the type who would do something like that. With Girl Meets World he is a little involved in at the moment, I don’t know if he would want to put so much on his plate. Don’t blame him if he didn’t, though. Shout out, baby! Shout out!
