Is Toonami it’s own program thingy like CN or does anybody own it?
The original audience for Toonami is around their 20’s and you’re talking to one of them, I think this might bring in more people.
The original “ThunderCats” aired on Toonami, and so the new “ThunderCats” will air on the block.

Oh, well. Back to seeking other methods and being happy that ThunderCats is on for everyone who can watch Toonami.

If you get CN, then you get Toonami. It’s not its own channel or anything
since people dont seem to be clear on the matter, Toonami is the anime block on Cartoon Network that starts a midnight Eastern time on Saturday night/sunday morning

So this is great news? Moving a show aimed at children, which main purpose is to sell toys to children, to after midnight. :duh:
The new series is much darker than any other show CN had. Considering there was a death almost every episode (whether implied or shown), and the fact that most shows on Toonami are TV-PG like ThunderCats, there’s really nothing strange there. It’s also a smart move because considering the toys didn’t sell, and I think the main problem behind that is a) Lack of advertising, and b) The show appealed more to older kids and adults. Why would you keep a show in a block where most people watching are kids who can’t follow the story when you could put it where people who actually would enjoy the series would watch it?
Changing subjects here, but I think if the show does miraculously get renewed, I would like it to stay on Toonami. At least it will be advertised and I HO early think having it aimed towards older audiences could really help it become an event greater show.
You could definitely see this in positive and negative light. For one, it’s good that ThunderCats is finally getting some more reruns, and it being on such a beloved block as Toonami sort of vindicates it. Plus, it gives it a chance of being renewed if it does well. CN could be letting Toonami air it to see if they show can work better with an older audience. [as] and Toonami are able to produce some high quality animation (Boondocks, Black Dynamite, Venture Brothers, the second season of Big O), so it may be possible for them to get another ThunderCats season.
But on the other hand, it’s coming with Sym-Bionic Titan, which was pretty much canceled. This could be seen as Cartoon Network not wanting to have anything more to do with either shows, and they’re just passing them along to [adult swim] and Toonami because the guys that work there requested it. They see what good shows they are and wanted to do something nice for the fans. CN Main just may not care anymore though, and don’t care what happens to the property so long as they no longer have to deal with it.
I have to wonder though if TC really fits the new Toonami. It would have definitely fit classic Toonami when it still aired during the day, but the new one has more shows with cursing and violence. I know the new TC is much darker and more violent than the old one, but we never see any blood or characters getting maimed, and there isn’t any cursing.
Even Sym-Bionic Titan has some pretty violent parts, not to mention the “Booty Quake” scene. And as far as being thematically mature, I don’t think TC ever got deeply philosophical, which seems to be the standard for a lot of the anime that airs on Toonami now. I’m still glad it’s on there though. Wish it was on earlier.

I am all for it being aimed towards an older market but WB and CN only brought it back with the intention of selling toys and if they are to do that Bandai has to drastically improve the crap they have been selling or WB and CN need to get a new company to produce toys for the show.
I do like the show, yes certain thins could have been better but thats all been said already, the fact is for the Thundercats cartoon to continue it needs better toys. Putting it on and getting more adult fans etc is great but they won’t buy the toys because they are crap.
No enough money from toy sales means no second series.
I think they should have viewed the NS more as a show with a toyline, not a toyline with a show. If they would have tried to make the show the real thing they focused on instead of toys, it would most likely be on a second season, whether it got better ratings or not. They simply thought the toyline would be the one thing that could keep the show funded, so they didn’t try anything else to help the show alongside the toys. It was a highly stupid decision on the network’s behalf.
A shame I cannot see it on Toonami. I am not a gamer that stays up late. If it was on at 9 or 10, that would be a different story. I’m sick of King of the Hill for a while.
Exactly Hammy. Maybe they could work out a deal with Playmates or NECA etc to produce some 6" NS snd OS figures.
