For a brief moment I had forgotten about this thread and thought you were talking about the the movie “Thundercats, HO!” vs. the Sword of Plundarr arc (which serve similar purposes).
I love the fact that this is taken more as a serious battle cry than the OS. It has more of an impact when you don’t hear it in every episode. :liono
tough choice but I like 2011 just a little better
I think the old version isn’t bad at all for something that was done so long ago - the feects are really good too .but it doesn’t hold any nostalgic factor for me . so I can judge it more objectively . and to me , his voice actor is overding it , sounds a bit like your cardbord hero would . plus - it’s part of the opening (right?) and the quality of this sequence reduces dramaticly in regular episode .
The new version though has alot more build up before it happens , the quality is really great for in-show footage ,I just love the shading , and his voice is more intense . even if the first time I saw it it had these strange pauses like people ehre have mentioned . but I think it’s just due to the lack of music behind it ,
so thats a win for the new one 
both of them btw can give you seizures XD
I keep my fingers crossed, but i am willing to bet that even in 20 years from now, the OS Characters and represantations will still be considered epic and iconic, surpassing the 2011 Tcats.The story and plot is another matter for which i agree the NS is more complete.
They both give me goosebumps. I think I will have to go with the new one and for one main reason. That being the 85’ version that is played is the quality intro and not a clip from during the show where the quality drops. While the '11 version is from during the show as there is no comparable intro yet.
I love them both and really hope that if another season comes then an intro will come with it!

I just bumped it to see what people think now, the season has not not come to an end yet but i still wanted to see.
At the start people were all like: OLD LION-O! (Comments on youtube and such)
Well, to me this is a tie, unlike with MOTU, where I totally favored the 2002 reboot over the original 83’ series.
The OS Thundercats, I think, had a more frenetic soundtrack. Our heroes had a more imposing look(well, Panthro look more intimidating in the NS than in the OS), and, though the NS voices of Lion-O and Tygra are very adequate for today, the OS series voices of thos two were more,…I guess I would say, much more heroic sounding.
The NS has better written stories. Characters are more layered. Animation is much better(which is to be expected).
…and with this being said, I want to take the opportunity to say that I think it would be great if sometime later in this decade or maybe the next, we can get a Thundercats Anime series done by Madhouse studio, just like the X-Men Anime on G4!! What would this series offer? Well, I think it could offer the best of what the OS had and the best that the NS has. It would have the powerful and more “detailed” character designs of the original series, as well as a more “thrilling” soundtrack with the more sophisticated storylines of the current series! Or better yet, it would essentially be the Wildstorm TC comic series animated!!
