You’re right about Lion-O relying on the Stones of Power. The way I see it, he does need to learn to fight without them. Mumm-Ra relies on the stones, too, and he can actually harness their power.
I see her in a way as a darker Leo, who sees the Cats and all those beneath Mumm Ra as weak and therefore evil. She see’s his actions doing what ‘needs’ be done as decent.
Although an interesting point is she has never been physically around to hear him call the spirits (neither were Leo or panthera), the ancient spirits of evil. So they and she would have assumed the spirits were anything but.
My guess is, within time, she’s going to start thinking ‘why’, especially at something that’s going to shock her, and in doing so, might be redeemed.
My theory involves a very different thing, where there’s a certain part of Pumyra’s conscience that Mumm-Ra/ASoE have not controlled. It has only showed up in moments like at the end of Birth of the Blades and Recipe for Disaster. Her redemption involves somehow taking out what part of her conscience is controlled with the help of the Soul Sever and replacing the part that hasn’t been controlled into her body. That’s the condensed form.

I thought that Lion-O would use the Spirit Stone to enter Pumyra’s soul and break whatever binds the Spirits of Evil have on her soul, but he can only do so much. Pumyra has to be willing to fight for her life too. The ASoE could try to kill Lion-O while he’s in there, and Pumyra has to choose to save him or not. That, or the ASoE create this false dream world to try and keep Pumyra and Lion-O in the Astral Plane forever. Maybe part of Pumyra’s soul is stuck in a dream world, and then the same happens to Lion-O.
Another idea I had; Bengali and Lynx-O have been traveling together since the fall of Thundera. Bengali carries the hammer the blacksmith wielded in the flashbacks in “Birth of the Blades.” Bengali could be descended from the ancient blacksmiths, who carried on the secrets to forging magic metal. They meet Lion-O and the other ThunderCats when, somehow, the Sword of Omens is broken.
I know this may seem radical, but perhaps Bengali won’t be a white tiger, but look like the blacksmiths in the flashbacks, more like a white haired cougar. I like to think that the blacksmiths were sort of a precursor to the Clerics, an order of magic users, but specializing in weapon forging, and Bengali is descended from them while inheriting a magic weapon of his own. Of course, he could still be a white tiger, with mixed ancestry.
Tigers seem to be very rare on Third Earth, and white tigers probably more so. Bengali would have stuck out a lot on Thundera, possibly to the point of being an outcast. Maybe Bengali didn’t live in Thundera, but in some secluded place with his family, who by now may be dead. Lynx-O may have found him. I just point this out because aside from Tygra, there are no other tigers left alive. That could work as an origin as well.
My Bengali was just a Thunderian military person, so he really wasn’t too much of an outcast. He is the last of his kind as well, or at least that’s pretty much what it seems. He was actually Pumyra’s love interest before the fall. After she was resurrected by Mumm-Ra, she tricked him into following her, and she eventually attacked a village and put the blame on him. Some of the cats get captured as well and find him in the prison, and he joins up with them after they are let go.
Gold Lion provides an exciting reason for Bengali being of a mixed heritage.
Could you also try something Goblet-of-Fire-ish, like when the spirits of Leo and Panthera and the other ancestors of the Cats advise Lion-O, then accost Mumm-Ra while Lion-O has time to run away and start something epic?
Maybe. I’m not sure about that. The closest thing would probably be Jaga helping Lion-O with decisions and other various things.
Maybe even Lion-O going into the Spirit Realm or the Book to gain inspiration from his parents?
wow, a fan made thundercat comic continuing from where the animated series left off sounds awesome. i have been reading most of the posts on this thread and i like all the ideas. if you guys need an artist for some of the stories, i’ll be glad to lend a helping hand.
