ThunderCats Fan Comic?

Dan Norton once told me (months and months ago) that If the show ever did get canceled that he would make sure we all knew what they had planned to happen in season 2.

Why not just wait to see if it gets renewed? And if it truly is canceled, we could get the info straight from Dan about what happens next and create scripts from that.

We’re most likely going to wait a little while to begin and see what’s going on right now. It’s going to be Cap’n Cracka’s interviews that will shed a lot of light, we’re hoping.

Here’s a real question, though. What do we do if the series is renewed? Will we still make this comic?

If it gets renewed, then we won’t really need to. We could still do comics pertaining to details not shown in any of the episodes, like Panthro and Grune’s adventures or Lion-O and Snarf venturing into the slums for the first time.

Yeah, that could work. Just have a bunch of things that would be considered filler on the show. For now, I think we should wait like balgus said and see what the interviews say and if any more info gets out.

I had two specific artists in mind who, imo, are two of the best NS ThunderCats fan artists on the web, cofiegirl ( http://cofie.deviantart.com/ ) and piku-chan ( http://piku-chan.deviantart.com/ )

Cofie has in fact been doing her own fan comic called “Clone Babies,” based on the ancient ThunderCats (Leo, Panthera, Tygus). Since they do commissions, I don’t know if either of them would expect to be payed to do a comic. I don’t want to have to get money involved in this, but I think we’re getting ahead of ourselves here. We should decide on an artist once the story related elements have been nailed down.

Just give me the word and I’ll make a Facebook page and link it to the official TC page (if necessary). I’ve already got a fairly successful fan page for Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century. Also, I recommend DickGraywolf ( http://dickgraywolf.deviantart.com/ ) as an artist. He’s really good.

Good morning everyone, i will now explain how you can connect to the TS3 server so we can chat/talk about the fan comic

Step one: Download TS3 and install it, http://www.teamspeak.com/?page=downloads/

Step two: Start TS3 then connect to this address: teamspeak.gamelaunch.dk:1515

Step three: You will see many rooms with different names, jump into the one with a guy named “Rizefall” (yes that’s me) and we can start chatting in realtime and make us a special room just for this comic on that server.

As soon as I get my laptop back, I’m interested. Meanwhile, I’m using Slithor’s computer and will comment whenever I can.

I think it’ll be better if we all decide on a continuing storyline and then divide it into parts that we all specialize in and then when the writing is done, we’ll have everyone else review it and make revisions from there. Another thing to think of is we probably want to keep the writers to a small number because too many could result in drastic style changes between each writer and would make the whole thing seem weird.

Since I suggested the idea in the other thread, my answer would be a yes. We would need to get a good artist, and I have a couple in mind, though they would have to agree to it of course. Plus, we would need good ideas and writing.

If we were to do this, I would want it to be collaborative. I wouldn’t really trust one fan alone to come up with everything. I think we would need several people exchanging ideas and choosing a good course for the plot to follow. Aside from ideas, we would need someone who is just a good writer in general, or someone could pen scripts and have others edit and make changes.

I have seen this sort of thing done before. An artist who goes by rufftoon worked on Avatar the Last Airbender, and she made her own fan comic about Zhao, which I hear is pretty good. We may not be professionals, but it’s not out of our grasp.

There is, of course, the issue of if fans would accept the fan comic. Everyone has their own ideas of how the rest of the story should be, and there’s bound to be a conflict of ideas. For example, there’s still Lion-O/Cheetara shippers who would probably want Cheetara to break up with Tygra and get with Lion-O. I would be against that, since I feel it would undermine what happened in the show. So, if I were to be a part of the creative process, I would try my best to please fans without doing anything extreme.

One thing, which i’ve said before, though I am not sure here, I’d like to see, with the introduction of Bengali is that the Cats discover him living at Kit and Kat’s farm, helping their mother and siblings out. In that scenerio I see him as a straggler from the army, who was injured, and taken in by the twin’s compassionate mother.

This leads to a bit of romance with her, and hurt feelings from the twins, who fear their father is going to be replaced. Followed by a few comedic, and a touch of dramatic, issues with the twins and Bengali, who in my idea, promises their mother he’d look after them (the only reason she allows them to stay with the group, that plus she saw them fight to defend the farm).

My idea for you guys’ fan comic would be for Lion-O to use the lessons he’s learned and incorporate them into his being. That way, he’ll be a better holder of the Sword of Omens. Throughout the show, he “forgot” those lessons.

That’s my only problem with writing is I tend to be better at the darker stuff. If this comic does happen, I’ll probably stick to the darker moments when it comes to writing.

Throughout the show, he “forgot” those lessons.

What show were you watching? He was much smarter and more mature at the end of the season and showed that he had learned a lot. Otherwise he’d still be mad about the Cheetara thing and wouldn’t have even bothered to help the slaves because he was too busy avenging Claudus.

But I do think we should incorporate more lessons for Lion-O.

I’ve always viewed the sword as a symbol of power and leadership more than anything, but I think it would be good to make him better at fighting without using the stones’ powers.
