I usually watch a thundercats episode at least three or four times a week. Every time I watch it, I past forward those creepy Pumyra and Mumm-ra scenes. Scrubs aways the bad thoughts.
Weird is 30/60 like a friend from college who married one of our teachers 12 years ago. She’s got stepchildren older than her. Her children have nephews older than them. Need I say more?
When you get to 30, 30/40 is nothing.
The thing is, why would he decide to wait for her to grow up? That would be beyond creepy. Even if she had a crush on him -something we don’t really know for sure- why would she wait ten years for him? Ten years is more than enough time for any of them to find somebody else closer to their ages and interests.

LMAO
I’m with you there, actually. Gross, but I didn’t react further than “ewwww” and “that poor lion…”
My mouth dropped open and I got really angry/disappointed. While yes, this is an unexpected twist, it bothers me a bit that the writers based her anger at Lion-O on something so weak as “you left me there and I died”. Fer cryin’ out loud! She was buried beneath a pile of rocks, no one saw or heard her. L & crew had no idea she was there! Come on! If there was some connection prior and they saw her and then walked away sure! BUT THEY DIDN’T SEE HER – oops…sorry, I’m shouting. Basically she’s saying I’m p****d at you & want revenge because you let me die even though you didn’t know who I was or that I was there. Oy! Contrived revenge plot…worse than the weak villain in Star Trek 2009 (and yes, I loved the movie - hated the villain.)Yes I have a Love/Hate thing going on with the new TC show.
I’m just more annoyed now, edging out my grossed out-ness of her being possibly intimate with Mumm-Ra,at the results of Pumyra’s betrayal to Lion-O.
Okay, the dude has gone through enough crap already, and the only good relationship outcome he has gotten which I am relieved to see is his relationship with his brother. Sure they are still mildly jerks to each other, but it’s not as bad as it was before.
Pumyra’s betrayal was dumb, and it was stupid and predictable and it was dumb. Did I mention it was dumb yet? There was already enough of a Thundercat betrayal with Grune. There was literally no point, despite the hints, since “The Pit” episode.
Sure you can bring up the question “Well how does Mumm-Ra know where they are going?” He has his Scrying Pool which ALWAYS showed him what was happening even WAYYYY back into his 80’s incarnation.
Bottomline, Pumyra’s Betrayal felt tacked on and pointless. If she is so “Evil” and consumed by Rage and Revenge, she would not show acts of kindness, such as when she helped that lizard bird back into its nest and hanging out with the Wily Kittens and Snarf. PLUS, she needs to really understand Thundera’s fall and her eventual “Death” was not Lion-O’s fault at all. Despite her being ruled by her negative emotions and the ancient spirits of evil, is she too stupid to realize, “Oh wait it was the mummy dude, and his sidekicks grune and slithe that plotted ALL of it”.
Does she have a chance of redemption? Perhaps, but the way she acted against Lion-O now makes her an unfortunate lost cause who seemingly refuses to understand especially after all the genuine acts Lion-O did for her. Also, wouldn’t the Spirit Stone detect something? And why has he not been using his “Sight Beyond Sight” to find out this spy crap beforehand!?
Holy jawdrops.. just got around to watching episodes 25 and 26, was really liking them, just thinking Pumyra seemed a bit lackluster to what I had hoped, when she full out betrayed them all. Did not see that coming AT ALL, seriously super epic twist.
Another thing I noticed, and this has probably been mentionned already, but how much were they inspired by star wars when writing eps 25 and 26? Landing on that birdman sky-island gave me a flashback of Han Solo landing at Lando’s then I kept seeing more, they’re being thrown in a garbage disposal, the “I got one rocket locked” comment by Tygra, even the mumm-ra fight was a lot like the emperor with his lightning.
Solace316, you bring up an interesting point when you ask about how Pumyra could show acts of kindness if she was consumed by hatred or revenge. The only thing that comes to my mind, on this point, is the possibility of psychopathology. Maybe her kindness was really charm. For the sake of the fans and the show itself, I hope that this is wrong.
Wintergt, I enjoyed reading your reaction. ![]()
I think you’re just upset because Lion-O got screwed again (don’t get me wrong, I was upset too). But it wasn’t dumb. Plus, with your points about her “showing acts of kindness”; we have been discussing the fact that she’s 100% evil and that somewhere down inside she’s probably still herself pre-fall of Thundera. This part most likely showed in her acts of kindness.
Nah, I can tell you from personal feelings about it that it’s more about the reasoning of it that is stupid. If she is ****ed off at Lion-O for abandoning her, then shouldn’t she be even more ****ed off at Mumm-Ra since he was the one who caused Thundera to fall and more responisble for her death than Lion-O?
It would’ve been one thing to see Pumyra lose herself in her rage towards Mumm-Ra and Mumm-Ra takes advantage of it with a spell to make her a puppet but that didn’t happen. He just revived her and used her as a spy.
It’s most likely possible that Mumm-Ra filled her up with what he wanted her to believe about the fall of Thundera.
And that is were we are also saying that Mumm-Ra is manipulating her in someway and he has erased part of her memory so she doesn’t remember it was him who caused the fall of Thundera.
I like that theory and the one about the astral plane in the other threads
=)
Not to mention he resurrected her from the dead, that changes quite a lot. And if you think back on how she behaved throughout all the episodes, something I have been complaining about was her behavior seeming inconsistent from ep to ep, but NOW when you think back she was balancing a hatred for Lion-o with (awkwardly) trying to win him to her side (+seducing him, a bit) while not actually being into it, which is pretty much what we have seen so far - that makes the betrayal very nicely set up actually.
Why do I get the feeling that the very first thing Tygra will say to Lion-O after this incident will be to taunt him about it? -_-
Ooh, I don’t know. While it would be very typical of Tygra and I do enjoy his taunting, I think it may be too serious of a situation for him to taunt Lion-O. I honestly feel the same, though.
On second thought, that wouldn’t be nearly cruel enough for these writers. They’ll probably just kill Lion-O off (for real this time) and make Tygra the new leader altogether. And then show him dancing on Lion-O’s grave.
Ok, I admit the last part was hyperbole, but still.
The writers are not THAT mean to Lion-O. It’s just his love life that has suffered. I feel really bad for the guy in that category, but he has become a much better fighter and has matured drastically since the pilot.
Well, while that is the area they seem to target most often, that’s not the only thing. There’s been a very consistent theme of “Tygra is better than Lion-O in every way and Lion-O doesn’t really deserve what’s been handed to him” throughout the show. It’s toned down a little bit now, but it’s still there in the background.
I think this was a theme for the first half of the season. It was to somewhat “put Lion-O in his place”, but it’s been implied a lot since the trials that Lion-O is better than Tygra (Tygra even says Lion-O’s plans were better than his and immediately lets Lion-O be king again once he sees that Lion-O is alive). I can definitely see where they have made Tygra look better in earlier episodes, but lately Lion-O has been a lot better than Tygra.
Point taken. I only mean that taking the Tygra vs Lion-O arc together with Lion-O’s romantic troubles, it seems like deep down the writers want Tygra to be the main character, but they can’t do it because, you know, respecting the source material. So instead they torture Lion-O as a consolation prize. lol
I’m not going to try to hide the fact that they have payed a lot of attention to Tygra in the series so far, but it’s probably due to the OS completely neglecting his character for the second season. I’m not saying you’re wrong, but it seems like they’ve changed a few things in this series that immediately put it a step above the OS (silencing Snarf, giving Pumyra more screen time, etc). Giving Tygra a good amount of story and background was another thing they did to improve upon the OS, and I enjoyed it. I’m not saying you’re wrong, because it’s your opinion and theres nothing wrong with it, but you may want to take the preceeding into account.
