Lion-O can not kill Pumyra, at least not out of a desire to seek vengeance.
It would go against his whole character. Mercy has been what has set him apart from the other Thundercats from the very start of the show. He asked for a Lizard to be pardoned & he spared a mouse slave driver that was whipping one of his own kind. Sparring Pumyra if given the chance to kill her would probably be the ultimate test of his character and the opening for Pumyra to realize “Wow, I really screwed up” and lead her to her redemption.
Tygrafan, your whole post sums it up pretty well. I admit to having been surprised that there was so much enthusiasm for the character and pairing with Lion-O. The contrasting relationship pairings in “The Curse of Ratilla,” and in subsequent episodes, the body language and comments from the other Thundercats, all signaled pretty strongly that something wasn’t quite right. I guess neither we, nor Lion-O, paid it much attention.
Also, as for Dobo and the dogs, I think Lion-O and the cats “healed” Dobo a bit by showing him he hadn’t been abandoned (by Panthro), and that cats were capable of loyalty, a value he respects.
I feel like at the same time, he could even go as far as to say that if her desire for revenge and her spirit will rest when he’s dead, he can give her chance. If she realizes how willing he is to go through with it, a part of her may actually rethink if the revenge is really going to her justice.
I feel like if there is that hesitation, then we will know that some part of her may be controlled, and there’s a chance for her to see the error of her ways and change for the better.
I agree 100% with your post. Never got all the Pumyra love, and always considered it to be more of a anti-Cheetara thing. And I also think Lion-o was never really over Cheetara. I’d like to see how he reacts now, and if he “returns” his affection to Cheetara.
I think she should stay evil. Period.
That’s something that confused me in the final ep. Lion-o was eager to save the Lizards’ amry in “New Alliances”, but he had no problem blewing away them in the final ep. I know they were in war and under attack and all that, but still…
Hi everyone I’m new to this board. I like to say I really enjoyed this season of the NS and I’m a big fan of the OS. Well with that out of the way, I really enjoyed it but it felt to short..well to me it did. It was awesome to see all four of the mutants together it’s about time. As for Pumyra, well she’s one of my favorite thundercats next Panthro, Lynx o and Bengali. But sadly in the OS she had very little spotlight, I’m glad there was a little more of her in the NS. I’m not surprised that she’s working with Mumm-Ra there were signs the hole time, but I’am surprised that she died in the fall of thundera and was resurrected. In the flashback I wish Lynx o and Bengali was there to fight by here side, it would of felt like the OS having the there of them together buy o well. I know everyone hate the new Pumyra but I don’t, even as a bad girl she’s still one of my favorite new or old verson. I really hope there will be a season 2, there’s nothing to watch on Saturday mornings anymore..no ThunderCats no Young Justice. I want my shows back and new now.
I haven’t heard anything and I follow that show really closely. I remember it going on a 9-10 month break during the first season. It seemed like they did that to write the rest of the season, but it was ridiculous.
I just hope it’s true that it will come back in September. People on other froums said it would so keep your fingers crossed. After the depth episode the second season is really getting good.
Just my 2 cents. The scene where Pumyra rescues a baby bird and Lion-O tells her he gets the feeling there is a side to her no one else sees is stuck in my head. I don’t believe the writers are going to leave Pumyra in that state, especially considering they said they brought her back BECAUSE of the fans.
You know what I loved about this episode? It brought tons of people to the lair that haven’t been on here for awhile to post their opinions. It brought in many people who had not really gotten attached to the show and got them hooked. It’s generated more discussion than any of the other episodes and even more hope for another season. In short, it was exactly what it should have been.
Pumyra’s heel turn (using Wrestling terminology here) is the gutsiest thing this show has done, and I think, more than anything else, will be the major hook for people to want to have a second season. If it was just one stone left, I guess we could just assume that the Cats get it and beat Mumm-Ra, but now we have one of the classic T-Cats going bad, and that HAS to be resolved one way or the other.

Pumyra’s (hopeful) heel face turn. Or even her soul passing on to the afterlife peacefully.
Lion-O getting a stock love-interest, for Pete’s sake!!

Kit and Kat reuniting with their family and finding El Dara.
A certain evil magician wearing bleached spaghetti getting his just (hopefully permanent) desserts once and for all.
For season 2 i would like to see Cheetara and Tygra continue to progress with their relationship. Heck i want kittens lol
I would like to see more of Cheetara’s origins.
I’d like to see more interesting stuff happening with Panthro
Of course looking forward to seeing Bengali and Lynxo
Last but certainly not least I want to see LionO get back his girl Pumyra!!!
