Great finale…! Like many predicted, I too was expecting something like this would happen to Pumyra, but the writers still managed to surprise me in the end. She’s my favorite Thundercat, but I think she’s actually more interesting as a villainess… The OS never had an interesting main female antagonist, maybe only Luna and Chilla but I never liked them that much.
So… Pumyra is Mumm-ra’s consort now? I guess we’ll be seeing him taking the form of Pumm-ra sometime in the next season then…? =)
Somehow I doubt that the writers intended to convey a message about dealing with the hardships of life in what is quite clearly a good vs evil high fantasy aimed at a children’s audience. Besides, since when does fantasy have to echo reality? If you really want soul-crushing fatalism, that’s what Game of Thrones is for. But let’s be honest. Pumyra’s betrayal was put in for one reason and one reason only: shock value.

I have the oddest feeling that making Pumyra evil was supposed to be some kind of bizarre Pumm-Ra pun.
That would be fine for a cartoon for teenagers or adults, but this series is more designed for kids. It was done solely for the shock value and even then it wasn’t all that surprising for those of us in these forums.
I didn’t find Pumyra’s betrayl shocking at all. Neither did alot of other people in these forums. I was more disappointed by it when it happened.
I personally was more shocked at the writers for going with that kind of crappy writing. If Pumyra has these kinds of feelings towards Lion-O, then they should be even more intense towards Mumm-Ra since he instigated the whole thing of Thundera’s fall.
Then again, I shouldn’t be surprised with how they handled the love triangle earlier in the series as well.
That’s what the mind control theory is all about. Since the second season hasn’t started production, that means that the writers can see our reactions and make changes to anything they may have had planned. So even if there was no mind control (and good freaking lord I hope that’s not the case), it’s not too late for the writers to fix things by making it mind control. If Pumyra acted willingly, then the writing is absolutely awful. So we need that second season.
i wanted to wait until i’ve the the whole season and all i can say is.. what i ride ! you can’t compare it to the OS, cause there’s so much difference..
i liked the way of animation and storytelling and liked every episode except the ramlak rising one.
the update of the mutants is awesome! it was so cool seeing them in this episode all together
all i can say is : bring on the second season :-p

Why is it awful that she just did it for revenge? Just cause she’s a Thundercat she’s still not perfect. I like “Not perfect” characters and an evil Thundercat just sounds awesome in my book.
OF COURSE it’s just your opinion, but it’s not fair calling their writing awful just cause they choose some character to (maybe) be all out revengeful.
No mind control there, theres history there. Gross. I dont care if she remains bad. I never liked her, not even as a future queen. But who knows. Weird that they turned the OS cat into a bad cat. Pumyra was a nice cat in the original.
Not after that finale oh no sir. Such a great ending and the Pumyra twist was AWESOME! I actually like her more now, and especially when this is supposed to be a kids cartoon and one of the “heroes” turns evil like this. IT’S IMMENSE! Hopefully the show will continue with this dark and movielike tone

Perhaps someone should notify whoever is in charge of this show that now is actually the optimum time to renew it? I suspect the reason it hasn’t yet been renewed is because the show has had a hard time competing both with it’s big brother on CN Young Justice and with their true rival on Nick, Legend of Korra. But Young Justice is now on hiatus until September and the first season of Korra is ending in a 1-hour special next week. That means that after next week both of Thundercats’ major competitors will be (temporarily) out of action. They missed a huge opportunity there I think. If they failed to renew it because they expect it not to be as popular as YJ and Korra are, that’s kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy.
It’s awful because having her just do it all for revenge makes her a shallow character and ruins all the development she supposedly went through. Sure, it’s an interesting twist to have another evil Cat, but making her pure evil instead of mind controlled means having to sacrifice much better character development and story. Besides that, her being willingly evil opens up a bunch of plot holes, and it makes Pumyra look like an idiot for working for the guy who destroyed Thundera in the first place. There has to be something wrong in her head besides just revenge lust. Making Pumyra willingly evil is turning her into a worse, two dimensional character, and that’s hardly a good thing.
Indeed, what i hope for was that she felt betrayed when she died and ASOE took their chance to mind control her with that anger, and that she sometimes break through and hopefully can be saved.
