You know, this is the first part of the season finale and it doesn’t really feel like it. The mid-season finale was great and they built everything up to culminate in a fantastic showdown between the Cats and Mumm-Ra. The previous episodes did very little to set the stage for anything to happen in the finale. I’m really, really disappointed with how the second half of the season has been handled. It is pretty sad that “Between Brothers” had more of an epic setup than “What Lies Above”.
I’m honestly surprised that we’re in the finale and Mumm-Ra is nowhere to be seen. I love Vultaire and the bird folk, but they shouldn’t be the final confrontation of the season.
I hope this isn’t the end for the series. The show doesn’t deserve to stumble across the finish line like this.
The real question now is “Where is the fourth stone?” We know that the Elephants got the Soul Stone, the Birds the Tech Stone, and the cats the War Stone, but who did the fourth hand belong to in Vultaire’s little story? We know it wasn’t the Lizards, Dogs, or Apes. Could it have been the Fish/Sharks?
Wouldn’t it have to be the Tigersharks? All other races are accounted for and don’t seem to have it, right? I guess the Sabretank is going to become a submarine if we come back next season.
That’s why I railed so much against “Recipe for Disaster” - it totally killed the momentum that was building after Pumyra was introduced, and did nothing to set up the endgame at all. Couldn’t understand it.
I’m certain Mumm-Ra is going to be in Part 2. They’ve totally set it up for him to take the Tech Stone and drop Avista out of the sky like a rock, and the cats along with him.
You know, people were saying that “Pumyra was too quick to decide”. But, what was Lion-O going to do? From what I saw, he seemed to just think “well, I guess we can’t get it”. Maybe Pumyra’s plan wasn’t so bad after all.
Yeah, I think this just goes to show that Pumyra is more concerned about her people than others. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing normally but it can be a flaw.
I think the reason why Pumyra had no issue with taking the stone was because she is probably going by the assumption that all the bird people are arrogant jerks like Vultair and his cronies. Remember he is the one that is leading them right now and so represents them and is giving her that impression. If they were real polite and nice, I’d think she would hesitate more.
Right now, the Birds are filled with pride and hubris, like the Cats before the fall of Thundera in my opinion. Mumm-Ra will attack and raze the Bird City and humble the birds just as much I think. Vultair will probably eagerly join Mumm-Ra for access to more of his tech along with his flunkies while the rest of his people flee.
I think we may be forgetting the most basic reason this city being destroyed is not a big deal. They can all fly, and simply leave. It wouldn’t really be an issue at all to be honest. They could move somewhere else, possibly just rebuild their ruined city on the ground below.
I think it is obvious Vultaire is a bad guy, because he initially gambled his city’s only power source away at the beginning of the show. I’m assuming in the next episode he’s made some back deal with Mum-Ra where he gets the stone and gets something else also, who knows what.
The problem is that their city is currently floating over populated areas and there’s no telling how much it could drift as it plummets to the ground. It could crash right on top of Dog city, or the Elephant village, or it could break into pieces as it dropped and take out both. The death toll would be catastrophic no matter how many birds fly away.
