-His plan to fight the lizards in episode 4 worked (with a little help from Panthro)
-It’s very debatable because it really wasn’t him, but his ideas worked in “Legacy”
-His plans in “Berbils” did not fail
-His stealth plan would have worked in “Into the Astral Plane” if Kit and Kat didn’t screw it up
-His liberation plans for the lizards in “New Alliances” only failed because Slithe recaptured the lizards. In other words, it was not a faulty plan, just bad luck on the lizards’ part
-His plan to get the sword back in “Trials, Part Two” worked
-His skepticism about the tiger clan in “Native Son” turned out to be justified
-His plan to show Pumyra he wasn’t going to hurt her and that he would stand by her worked
He’s been doing much better since the trials and it’s been much harder for the other cats to give him any grief because he often has either the moral or tactical high ground and is usually pretty good a deciding which approach works better in that situation. Case in point: This episode, many of his choices are moral in nature. He absolutely cannot lead Mumm-Ra’s forces to the escaping refugee and he cannot leave Pumyra to die. He sacrifices what may be a tactical advantage in order to do the “right” thing and keep people from dying. This loses him the sword, but gains him Pumyra. I would consider that, in its own way, a victory
There was really no way to keep the sword from Mumm-Ra (other than leaving it sealed in the mountain) once it was learned that he can track it movements. Any plan was doomed from the start.
Good episode - their weapons just got more “epic” though it’d be cool to see the people who got sacrificed for this … Kaynar and Addicus have finally turned into a smaller threat . which means Lion-O got one step forward . and the tallk he had with Pumyra at the end was very touching
Still disappointed with the action though . it’s pretty good but come on - they can do alot better ! like this show has done in the past . and now that Korra is on , it totally raised the bar so they need to catch up .
It was a very difficult situation, but just to say any plan was doomed is too easy. IMO there is always a way out.
As soon as they entered the mountain Lion-o has questioned his decision. I admit that the plan to leave the sword sealed wasn’t that bad,
but to take only Pumyra with him - he only knew her since a few days - was wrong.
Also, even if they had mange to seal the sword who tells us that Mumm-Ra wouldn’t have found a way to break the seal?
I agree that Lion-o didn’t have much time to make a decision, but still IMO it was wrong.
Let’s not forget that the plan wasn’t just to keep the sword away from Mumm-Ra, but to keep the army away from the escaping slaves. So at least that part worked out, as far as we know.
I still wonder, what’s the point in having those stones and swords if he has power to destory galaxies?. Talked about this to my friend so i suppose they are better for one on one fightning. With the stones you could kill Mumm-Ra as he is or if he had them no one could kill him.
Yet again the ship Mumm-Ra had crashed and probably broke. Still wierd the survivors (if they knew anything about tech) could not salvage anything. When Thundera got destroyed there must have been some way for them to be created etc etc. Yet again the materials might have been there and Mumm-Ra knew what to do with it.
What ever, i’m just rabbling around with myself here.
As we saw, that sword was total evil and Lion-O can’t use it. Keeping it away from mumm-ra is gonna be tough. Why didn’t he try to destroy it? Is it hard to destroy the sword even with the warstone? Anyway he didn’t have much choice. So Mumm-Ra gained the sword. Lion-O saved pumyra’s life and amply demonstrated what he meant in the premier episode:
“I don’t think the only way to rule is with a sword … I don’t want us from turning into the same cold-blooded creatures we fear” (something like that)
Huh, never thought of that. Mumm-Ra couldn’t use any of his galaxy destroying weaponry on enemies that were in the same vicinity as him, so he gets a sword for stabbing?
A wonderful episode, with good animation and fight scenes (I loved Lion-O’s reflections in those red crystals. That was a great touch). A few people thought the look between Cheetara and Tygra at the beginning might mean a rift within the group, but I think that was just their skepticism at what to them sounded like Pumyra’s foolhardy plan. Yes, she was snippy with Lion-O at times while they were in the caves, but they were under a lot of pressure to keep the Sword of Plunn-Dar from Mumm-Ra, and running into Addicus and Kaynar didn’t help her attitude (I don’t know if Addicus died when Lion-O collapsed the red crystal bridge, but it wouldn’t surprise me if we learn that he somehow survived the fall). I liked the flashbacks with Mumm-Ra, Leo, and Panthera on Mumm-Ra’s spaceship, but I saw an animation goof in the bridge scene, where Panthera was transparent like a holograph. Did anyone else see it? The Cat blacksmiths appear to be modeled on the Elven blacksmiths from the “Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King”, they look that much like them.
The fact that Lion-O shouted to Mumm-Ra, “You’re looking at him [Leo]” doesn’t necessarily mean he’s the reincarnation of Leo, but he is Leo’s descendant in spirit as well as in appearance so that’s probably what Lion-O meant. And it does look like a romance is forming between Lion-O and Pumyra; I loved how she touched his face and he closed his eyes happily; they’ll kiss before long. It’s about time Lion-O had someone of his own, though how long she’ll be there remains to be seen.
Each of the stones has different powers. It isn’t just all destruction. Blowing up a solar system is fine and all, but what if your goal isn’t to destroy everything in sight?
I enjoyed the episode.. not as much as ‘The Curse of Ratilla’, but good nonetheless! I guess Lion-O and Pumyra running of DID give the others time enough to rescue/free the ThunDerian slaves.. 8+
It’s just to make you realize how small and defensless we are compared to whats out there in space… like our earth is threatened all the time to be destroyed if one louzy meteor reaches us .
Also , it reminds me of the days of Dragon Ball Z - with an alien showing up everytime , holding the possibility to destroy earth like it’s nothing .
I thought this was a great artistic choice too And I got the feeling that Mum-Ra’s senses are weak compared to the “beasty” ones Lion-O has .
