Jaga is a cleric, and part of that role is to protect the sword of omens, he has served generations of Thunderian kings, most likely Claudus’ father, maybe even grandfather as a young boy, and has protected the sword and bestowed it on each king.
Main point of this whole thing:
Jaga is old.
End of story.
Solid episode! Ratar-O’s characterization, as well as the flashbacks of Ratilla, were very well-handled! Cheetara and Tygra’s scenes were indeed tender, and,… whadaya’know; a “relationship” between Lion-O and Pumyra is being forged!!

exactly, in all of those situations Jaga would be “acting as king” of the thundercats. The same question is relevant to the OS series because of those said flashbacks. In both cases, we see Jaga wielding the sword and being able to use its power. Yes, his skills with magic are ridiculous but it is unknown if that is why he was able to use it. Claudis looked at Jaga as family and he was able to use it. Tygra and Lion-O relationship is the same. They are not blood related but they are family
I’ve said it before, but I’ll reiterate. Any cat can use the Sword of Omens. But it only reaches it’s full potential in the right hands (i.e. Lion-O or Leo). Got that info straight from the crew months ago.
Jaga could’ve possibly been worthy enough to use most of it’s power. But you don’t have to be king to use it.
It cool how thing work out Jaga is the only one that something with the sword and cheetara who his the same power as him is on this team of Thundercats.
The episode was epic. No Mary Sues or Gary Stus there.

A “Mary Sue” and a “Gary Stu” is when a storyline is just too cheesy for its own good.
Also, it’s used to describe characters who have no real faults. They are too perfect, and thus become annoying and boring.

Great episode, Ratila was cool, I liked that Lion-o showing mercy helped save him again.
Ok so now I hoping Lynx-o and Bengali are not in birth of blades and just Vultureman.
I was hoping for Bengali and Lynx-O to show up in this week’s episode, but I wasn’t worried.
I just noticed, but the new Ratar-O actually looks more like the original series Ratilla than the original Ratar-O.
Something else I’ve noticed, but does the Sword of Plundarr already have a power stone on it, right at the end of the hilt/pommel? It’s purple, and I wonder if it functions like the War Stone.
No that’s just part of the design. I do have to wonder though how powerful it can be without any stones. It seemed like the Sword of Omens in Legacy didn’t have any power until it had the Eye of Thundera placed into it. Mumm-Ra was able to use the Sword of Plunn-dar without any stones, but I assumed that was because he had stones in his gauntlet.
Mumm-Ra may have been using his own magic to power it, but that doesn’t explain how Ratilla could use it. I still think that gem at the end is some kind of power source, even if it’s not as powerful as the War Stone or the gauntlet stones.
Oh, and I’ve really got to hand it to the art direction and Dan Norton, they took the original series rat villains and created a whole fashion and aesthetic for the rat race. Blues and reds with gold trim and an eye motif taken from the Rat Eye Daggers, implemented into the updated designs in such a natural way. I love it and it’s awesome. The Cats, the Tiger Clan, and the Rats all have their own style, sort of reminding me of the four nations in Avatar and how the citizens of each nation have their own fashions.
I actually don’t think the swords are completely powerless without the stones. The gauntlets are able to reshape without a power stone, so I think the swords can at least change length without a stone. I still think the gem on the Sword of Plundarr acts as a power source. It could explain how Ratilla could create lightning with it. It just can’t compare to the other stones, it’s nothing more than a shiny battery.
I wonder how Ratar-O got the Rat Eye Daggers. My guess is that the rats tried to create their own weapon like the Sword of Plundarr and that’s what they got.
Next week’s episode will continue to focus on the Sword of Plun-Darr as well as the characters.
I’m not so sure. Remember in Legacy when Panthera said, “I’m worried it’s a bit short.” And Leo/Lion-O said, “That’ll change once I join it with the Eye of Thundera.” That said to me that it can’t grow without a stone.
Maybe the base form of the Sword of Plunn-dar, without any stones, was just simply more powerful than the Sword of Omens without any stones.
I enjoyed this. Nice to see some of the other relationships getting developed and played with. Nice to see everyone getting some air time!
-The story with the rats was an interesting one. The cat’s are not innocent, and shoulder some of the blame for things being the way they are. As we’ve seen before.
-I don’t think it was the best battle, but it wasn’t bad. I’m going to hate that damn shield/stone combo thing. You have a freaking blade, sword fight!
-Lion-O’s hero theme;)
-Breaking up the group to accomplish multiple objectives. This is how you handle a cast this size!
-Tygra and Cheetara cheesey/waffy dialog. Goodness gracious Tygra;) It’s the honeymoon stage, he’e happy to be with her and can’t help but show it.
I need to say this: “I AM SUCH A PUMYRA FAN GIRL”.
When she went in on that rat, I was cheering like an idiot. KICK HIS BUTT, NO LION-O LET HER DESTROY HIM! Then she punched Lion-O:D. It looks like she’s sweet on Lion-O, but our King seems to have lingering affection for Cheetara. That, or he was just trying to clear the air.
LOL @ Lion-O’s face when Panthro announced it was time to save some cats. He looked like it was time to jump in the tank and roll to Disneyworld. What was that? 
Poor Panthro. He’s had it up to here with these kids and their hormones!
OMG Tygra went all Jack to Cheetara’s Rose. That was too waffy for this early in the day. By now my family is sick of watching those two kiss among the ice bur-I mean rocks.
Pumyra’s has been bit by the Lion-O empathy bug.
