That wasn’t the case at all. The situations they got into both were dangerous, but Lion-O’s was much more so than Tygra’s. Tygra didn’t have to do anything, and Lion-O beat Rataro in a genuine fight. Lion-O’s character wasn’t insulted at all, and him showing mercy was actually a sign of him growing. Sounds like a Lion-O centered episode to me.
Did anyone see when Lion-o stop Pumyra from killing the catrat. One hand grab her wrist and the other on her hip but kind of pass her hip a little meaning the other hand was on her thigh.

Curse of Ratilla is AWESOME! I love the set up of the rats searching for the Sword of Plun-Darr.. And I really like how the giant winged skeleton on Mount Plun-Darr is a nod to the OS Castle Plun-Darr!

My 3 shows (this, Young Justice, and Korra) were so good, I watched them again today!
This episode did not disappoint at all. I really liked Ratar-O and thought the way he was drawn and the way they did the Rat’s Eyes was awesome. I was thinking about how I couldn’t wait to get screen shots. I also liked his interactions with Lion-O. Ratar-O is a very arrogant king.
Another thing I like in this series is how we always get insight into both sides of the conflict. With the backstory they gave us, we can see and understand how Ratar-O felt justified in striking back at the cats, just like we saw in the pilot why the lizards hated the cats. No side is perfect. It makes all the characters have that “human” feel (despite being anthro animals) and makes for great storytelling.
The interactions with Lion-O and Pumyra were great, and while Pumyra is very different from her OS counterpart, I think she introduces a nice new dynamic into this team with her anger and hot-headedness.
The Cheetara/Tygra stuff was just delightful. I’ve shipped those two in the 2011 series from the beginning, so I was pleased to see all the screen time they got. Like someone else mentioned earlier in the thread, they do kind of have that Leia & Han Solo vibe to them.
Also, Tygra’s debunking of the curse reminded me of Scully from X-Files. 
The way I took the cuffs, and the way I think it was intended, was just that the rats are so used to the other slaves. When he found the cuffs unlocked, they didn’t back off, they didn’t fight back, they just calmly let him lock them back up. Just like a slave who’s pretty much had their will broken would do. He probably figured it was another rat that was to blame for not locking them properly.
Seemed more to me like a “Lion-O saves the day and Cheetara broke the curse while Tygra just happened to be with her” episode to me. Tygra didn’t really do anything but say he didn’t believe in the curse. Cheetara did all the work. So why are you giving Tygra credit for it?

The Lion-O/Pumrya plot was the A story, has huge ramifications, and it continues into the next episode. The Cheetara/Tygra plot was the B story and packaged neat & tidy for this one episode…you could have dropped all of their plot with them simply leaving and coming back with the sword and the episode would have still worked. Therefore, this was a Lion-O-centered episode. It doesn’t bother me as long as the other characters get a fair share of screen time and they did.
Cheetara did pretty much all of the heavy lifting in retrieving the sword. Tygra couldn’t have gotten past Jaga’s shielding magic; only a fellow Cleric could do so. Though it looks like the curse was ultimately broken by the Power of Lurve… I guess Jaga’s curse was intended to stop anyone from taking the sword for reasons of hatred instead of goodness.
That’s a valid point, but I think them being able to get the sword was mostly because of Cheetara.

That’s what I meant. I think because it was Cheetara, and she had such a strong bond with Jaga, the rocks didn’t crush her. I mean, jaga did make the mountain himself!
OK so I enjoyed the episode and am sorry if this has already been picked up on (i read the 1st 11 pages of comments then gave up!), but I don’t think the back story really makes sense unless ratar-o has really mixed up his history lessons!
We saw in legacy that the sword of omens was forged whilst Mumm-Ra had the sword of Plundarr, and was told it was made from the same enchanted metal as it. Well if Ratar-o was correct and they had the sword of plundarr before it was Mumm-Ra’s then there’s no way Jaga could have fought Ratilla with the SoO as it won’t have been created yet!
The only way I can think around this problem is that Ratar-o was wrong and it was only AFTER Mumm-Ra had the sword of plundarr and lost it that Ratilla picked it up in the swamps, thus the SoO was already forged and Jaga could fight with it.
Discuss.
P.S. the voice acting on Ratar-O I thought was awful! A calm british voice for a ruthless tyrent?? not happy with that.
P.P.S. despite his own decent screen time, STILL no flaming action from Tygra’s new whip 
I’m thinking the rats found it after the ship crashed. It probably got scattered across third earth just like the spirit stones.
Ah just rewatched the history bit and Ratar-O states “long before anyone KNEW it was Mumm-Ra’s, it was ours.”
So that kinda explains it…it was Mumm-ra’s 1st, and yes it must have been lost in the crash, just nobody alive knew of it or at least it’s previous ownership rights!
Interesting little observation I had about the episode that sort of took away from it. I watched it with closed captioning on, and in all the scenes were there were (for lack of a better term) beatings of the cat slaves, the CC would display screams, but the audio was not there. I know it’s a kids show, but it seems like this editing diluted the emotional impact of the story.
But they leave in at the end with T/C after the earth stops shaking and they break their kiss, she said something like “I think we just got lucky”

Hmm, interesting. It was already a pretty violent episode, so they probably cut it out to avoid a TV-14 rating possibly.

What episode were you watching?
Both Lion-O and Tyra had rubble collapsing on top of them. The only difference between the two is a kiss saved Tygra and Cheetara from harm while Lion-O, Panthro, and Pumyra got rock squashed.
A genuine fight? So Lion-O getting knocked and blasted around and only managing a win because he reflected ONE beam back at Rattar-o is what you consider a genuine fight even after Lion-O’s supposed education with the Drifter and his completion of the Trials? THAt is the character assassination I refer to.
Lion-O has shown mercy from the very first episode. His capacity for mercy has already been established as has the resulting character growth.
This just struck me as another 'Tygra can do no wrong" episode. I mean c’mon, unfastened handcuffs that a rat spots and nothing happens yet Lion-O pleads mercy and gets a blade in his back then taken captive…
As I said before, these are just my opinions and interpretations of how I viewed the episode. While I don’t agree with yours I do respect. Please don’t throw another Tygrafest temper tantrum and make me regret the respect I give you.

None of the characters did any wrong besides Pumyra. I think the fight was a little too much on Ratar-O’s side BUT it was a more eventful thing for Lion-O because after the falling rocks he had to fight Ratar-O and get Panthro and Pumyra out from under the rocks. Tygra just had to stand there and kiss his girlfriend.
By the way, anyone else think that Lion-O should have been a little more afraid of falling rocks?
