^ agreed. Also his response to Cheetara’s assurance that their relationship won’t be impacted; “But it does…this changes everything.” Definitely a wedge being driven into the group at this point, which leads to Panthro’s statement at the end that they all have to stick together to survive.

Overall, I enjoyed the episode. There seems to be a consensus of dislike on the new Panthro arms, I was expecting robo-strength and not some goofy extendo-matic power. But I liked the introduction of the new villians - Addicus is a sociopathic brute whose crimes were enough to earn him the death penalty from the birds, while Kaynar is a Joker-esque lunatic imprisoned for acts we can only imagine.

I also liked the new and improved Thundertank, particularly the MLS batteries on either side of the back end and the expanded troop compartment. Put legs on that thing and you’ll have a Battlemech to reckon with.

Yet again guys this is not really “Season 2” it is still Season 1 in a nutshell, CN just ****ed it all up.

And yet again as i live in sweden i have to watch the episodes online or download before i can tell you my opinoin and put up my review on tv.com. Hate that ****…

They were outclassed either way. If Cheetara had let Tygra die they still would’ve lost if Panthro hadn’t shown up. They were barely keeping things together one on one. But with Tygra dead there would’ve been no one to occupy Kaynar and he woudl’ve been free to help Addicus and Slithe.

It was a loose/loose situation and in such cases I prefer that Cheetara stuck to her morals and wouldn’t just let Tygra get killed.

Just finished watching the new episode. I enjoyed it, and it was nice to see some new stuff after the long hiatus.

I don’t really have an issue with the voices for Addicus and Kaynar. I liked that they included their more animalistic traits in fighting, such as Addicus using the monkey-feet and Kaynar being able to sniff out invisible Tygra. I also enjoyed all the light moments in the Berbil village with Panthro. Several lines had both me and my hubby Coldwin laughing out loud.

Cheetara’s willingness to surrender struck me as out of character, though. Yes, she loves Tygra, and cares deeply for her team, but as one of Jaga’s highly trained warrior clerics, shouldn’t she have it ingrained in her that you don’t make deals with the enemy like that and trust them? I mean, it’s pretty obvious that the enemy is vicious enough to kill them all anyway. Of course, that is a tough situation, and your heart thinking in place of your head might be what she was going through there, but… I don’t know. It’s more something I’d expect from someone more emotionally driven and young like Lion-O. Not someone who went through the cleric training. But that may be YMMV on how one sees the character.

What the heck Cheetara? I would hope she wouldn’t sacrifice Tygra, but to throw down your staff? Even the way she sounded, it was..strange. Why not save him, and continue the fight?

Lion-O you are a back of d****! You’re that butthurt that you’d sacrifice your own brother? Good thing Tygra didn’t feel that way when you went off alone, huh?

Really the exposition on the relationship was great until that last part. Maybe this will lead to an episode about separating heart and duty. As much as I love CheeTygra, she was wrong to throw down her staff. It a lesson she and Lion-O need to learn. He’s letting his feelings over “losing” her cloud his judgment, and she is letting her love for Tygra cloud hers. I can only imagine what it would feel like, to love someone for that long and finally be able to express it. Still though, keep your priorities in line.

THE NEW VILLAINS! OMAHGOSH, JUST EVIL AND HORRIBLE BEINGS! I love them already, even though the creep me out. Dude just slaughtered those birds, and then the other dude killed 11 men or something.Its still to early for me to be articulate.
The villains made this episode for me. Without them, it probably would have been a 6 or a 7.
Not feeling the new arms. Overall, it was about an 8/8.5 for me.

He misread her. He thought she wanted on that, but turns out she doesn’t. Now Lion-O is being a class A buttwipe about it. Turns out he doesn’t want anything to do with Cheetara, unless it includes making kissy face at him. Forget all of the support she’s given him,he only sees her for the so called betrayal. Lion-o , you’re a REALLLL nice guy bro.

I would hope Cheetara would throw down her staff even if it were someone other than Tygra in that position. The love triangle shouldn’t have anything to do with it. Sacrificing another Thundercat for no reason is just stupid. If Cheetara were to side with Lion-O and continue fighting they’d just lose and all be killed or taken to Mumm-Ra. The Thundercats were barely holding their own in a fair fight with the Mutants, they wouldn’t win if they were outnumbered. Surrendering and hoping for the right opportunity to escape or for the Kittens to hopefully show up with Panthro was the wise move.

my thoughts

My thoughts on the new episode:

Panthro go go gadget arms = lame

new tank additions seemed like an addition for the sake of an addition. And aesthetically it looks blagh, just being honest. I loved the tank as it was, now it looks like a sandcrawler, it lost it’s sleek edge.

Love Kaynar and his voice and demeanor, he kicks butt and I don’t mind the name changes.

Monkian visually and physically rules, his voice doesn’t match his look at all though. Oh well.

I enjoyed the cheetara lion-o tygra dialogue, though I agree it was a bit odd watching Cheetara disobey orders and Lion-o ready to sacrifice his brother’s life…

All in all, it is just great to have Thundercats back on the air. But the new tank needs to be taken away, go back to the old one. And Panthro’s arms should be more Jax power aka mortal kombat than Mr. fantastic/inspector gadget.

I agree about not sacrificing a team mate. I just wish she could have went after the guy, dont just toss down your weapon. Instead of what she did say, she could have said something like " Lion-O we cant sacrifice a member of the team" or “He’s your brother”!

I like the new episode, they are finally back

I have to say I was a bit shocked how easily they have dominated the Thundercats, especially Kaynar Tygra. I hope he’ll get his revenge soon ^^

I don’t think it has made any difference if Cheetara would have continue the fight and sacrifice Tygra, all three Thundercats would be dead without Panthro’s intervention. Lion-O would sacrifice his brother! I wonder what his father Claudius has done in the same situation with Panthro in the same position as Tygra. I doubt he would have sacrifice him.

I’m not so happy with Panthro’s new arms.

I really liked this episode. It’s great to finally see them back in action. The new thundertank is almost too big haha. It’s wicked cool though. I liked seeing some new species’ kingdoms, the birds and dogs. Having real names certainly makes Monkian and Jackalman more credible, and the importance of their involvement in order to reshape the army is a good plot point. Can’t wait for new episodes.

Hopefully we start seeing some villians in the 6 inch line.

Great episode, glad they’re back, ect.

I’m thinking the new Thundertank will double as their headquarters. Sort of a mobile Cat’s Lair since the show envolves the team traveling around the land so much. Berbils will pimp your ride!

Love that Addicus and Kaynar are getting proper fleshing out this time around. Addicus voice will have to grow on me as well.

So neither Panthro action figure I have is accurate to how he looks on the show now? lol. I really wanted the full metal arms look from his new fig. He still has his super strength (he punched a hole in the Berbils metal floor when he got off the table) I’m sure as episodes continue he’ll have other various things that his arms can do besides stretching.

Overall it was a good episode - not great, but good.

Likes:

Kaynar! The guy is a freak! Already he’s my favorite among the bad guys.

The voices: Unlike many of you, I think Addicus’ voice is fantastic. It evokes both Hannibal Lecter and Dr. Moriarity, and lends an interesting balance to Kaynar’s voice, which is a cross between Hannibal Lecter and the Joker.

The theme: the lizards are slaves not only in Mumm-Ra’s eyes, but in their own. And as this episode demonstrated, Lion-o being their self-appointed emancipator as a means of getting the animals to join together will prove to have many pitfalls before any payoff.

The love triangle: Typically, I roll my eyes at “romance” as depicted in entertainment because it tends to gravitate toward soap opera tripe instead of meaningful management of a coming together. But I have to hand it to TBTB, they nailed the triangle exactly where it needs to be at this stage in the game. Kudos to them.

Dislikes:

The Thundertank: campy, cheesy, too much.

Panthro’s arms: Maybe if they hadn’t introduced their abilities as a joke it would have played better when he used them in the heat of battle. But since they did and it didn’t, it’s a major miss. And since the next 13 episodes have been in the can for some time now, I’ll just strengthen my eyes for all the rolling they will do whenever Panthro elongates.

Mumm-ra: An over-the-top, obligatory evil laugh is fitted for OS Mumm-ra, not NS Mumm-ra. And he seemed rather tame in this episode.

The impression I got wasn’t that Lion-O was going to sacrifice Tygra but that he thought they could still save him if they kept fighting.

As for Panthro’s arms, that did weird me out, but I think as long as he doesn’t use the stretching ability all the time it won’t be that bad.

Seems that this episode is rather divisive, as usual :confused:

On one hand, many see Lion-O as just willing to sacrifice Tygra, and on the other many are mad at Cheetara for giving in. We don’t know exactly what would have happened if either both had surrendered or both kept fighting, but I will say that Cheetara surrendering did at least stall for time until Panthro showed up. I believe Lion-O thought that they could save Tygra is they kept fighting, and Cheetara didn’t want to risk it. If they both surrendered, they probably would have been killed faster, and if both kept fighting then Tygra would probably have been killed. So in the end, there being a disagreement is what gave them enough time to get saved. Just seems like a morally grey area to me.

Unlike some fans, I can’t be angry at either Lion-O or Cheetara for their actions. Everyone is calling Lion-O butthurt over Cheetara, but how exactly is he supposed to react? He trusted her and sincerely thought she was into him. And he’s at lest willing to act like it’s not bothering him in front of Tygra, which shows that he doesn’t want to make his brother feel guilty or start a confrontation.

Lion-O’s problem is with Cheetara, and he wants to keep it between them. He’s not really angry that he didn’t get the girl, he’s angry for feeling deceived, and it should be obvious to know how hurtful it is to discover someone you thought was close to you really isn’t. Plus, Lion-O isn’t trying to break them up or steal Cheetara, he’s just sulking and it’s something most people do. It probably won’t last longer than a few more episodes. The only thing I didn’t like Lion-O doing was taking on the lizards by himself, but he pretty much already did that at the beginning of the ep, and he didn’t know Kaynar and Addicus were there.

As for Cheetara, I was a little shocked that she surrendered so easily, but as I explained I don’t think it’s that bad. It shows that being loyal to Lion-O and the crown isn’t her top priority, and to be honest I like it that way. Cheetara has a change in character, she’s no longer simply Lion-O’s cheerleader, and I think this development is going to good for Lion-O.

Actually…in the second episode that kinda happened and Claudus would have sacrificed Panthro. Grune had Panthro (Mumm-Ra in disguise) tied up and said he’d kill him if Claudus didn’t give him the sword and Claudus refused.

If you look back I actually made the same observation a couple pages back. I don’t know why the writer insisted that Cheetara would just fuel the love triangle in that moment by making it about choosing one of them instead of just doing what is right.

Kaynar: “Surrender, or we’ll kill him!”

Lion-O: “Never, there is still two of us.”

I think it’s pretty clear that Lion-O was going to let Tygra die rather than surrender. Cheetara knew that fighting more would probably only lead to Tygra being killed, so she threw down her staff.

Lion-O let his pride get the best of him and came to the logical conclusion that “sticking together” means letting your brother die to continue fighting a battle he couldn’t win instead of surrendering to potentially save him/buy time.

I still don’t see it that way. Unless he said actually said Tygra was expendable I don’t think that’s the case. Lion-O avoided confrontation with Tygra and in the last episode he and Tygra proved they still had a brotherly bond. I doubt that Lion-O was just going to let Tygra die after all that. He’s angry but he doesn’t hate Tygra.

What I think Lion-O meant when he said that was there were still enough of them left to keep fighting and save Tygra. If both Tygra and Cheetara had been taken out (which they were) then Lion-O probably would have surrendered. All I think that line meant was “There’s still two of us who can fight, I think we can still all make it out alive.” I think Lion-O probably planned on him and Cheetara freeing Tygra, but she didn’t want to risk it.

Perhaps, but what he meant to say and what he actually said are two completely different things. Kaynar was obviously crazy, I wouldn’t put it past him to behead Tygra as soon as Lion-O refused to surrender. If I were in the situation I wouldn’t scream “Never!” if someone told me they’d kill my brother if I didn’t do something.
