Sadly I’m not going to this one (Seriously, it’s like one of the few CA cons this year I’m not attending.. just my luck!) Otherwise I would.

Nice. Sadly, it’s too far for me :(. But I certainly hope that they show the pilot episode for some early impressions.
Honestly I’m not sure yet if I want to see any reviews or early impressions til I see the show for myself. They’re all either going to be like “It was awesome!” or be from people who see the old show as the end all be all of the world and think that anything different is automatically crap.
Maybe if its a review by someone who knows how to be impartial or someone who hasn’t seen the old Thundercats.
San Diego’s way too far away for me too and it would be cool if Wil Wheaton hosted the Thundercat preview segment when G4 does their Comic-Con special.
If anyone is able to go, we could start coming up with possible questions to ask if there is a Q&A part. I recall the person who got the footage from WonderCon had their question asked by someone just ahead of them. Having a list of possible questions may prove helpful if a similar situation happens again.

Is “Lizard people” the official name, or will it be “Repillians”?
Will the collective group of various bad guys be known as “Mutants”?
That’s a great idea. Unfortunately, most of my questions would be considered major spoilers. The only ones I can think of worth asking are the following:
"Has the ending already been planned for the show, as in “the finale of the story”? If the show doesn’t gets picked up for another season, have you guys planned the ending of season 1 so that it ends on a satisfactory note?

That doesn’t really sound like a Q&A. I could be wrong though. I’d bet people’s questions would change after watching the premiere anyway. I usually get annoyed at Q&As tho because some people usually ask questions that have already been answered in interviews and press releases and stuff. All they gotta do is a little bit of research before going…
I’m just hoping for at least a video or audio of the new intro. Figures there’s a really good chance someone will post that asap same day or something.
Honestly I don’t have high hopes for the intro. They’ve already said they’re not gonna try to top the original and Cartoon Network is limiting them to like 20 seconds or so. There’s only so much you can do in half a minute.
How did you know CN’s only giving them 20 seconds or so? And isn’t something like the Johnny Test intro 60 seconds long?
It was in one of the interviews. I forget which one, but I’ll try to find it for you.
Edit: Found one where it doesn’t specifically say how long the limit is, but it says,
"One key element the producers knew fans would ask after would be the title sequence with its bombastic opening song. “I think it’s arguable that the opening of the old show was what it was known for. That was most memorable, and then the content was secondary. We want the content to be most memorable, and there’s limitations now to how opening sequences can be on television – time restrictions where you can’t do what the old show had,” Norton explained with Jelenic adding that they didn’t want to try and top the things the original show did so well, including the iconic opening number. "

I may have assumed the 20 seconds because other shows (like Ben 10 Ultimate Alien, Generator Rex, and Young Justice) has openings that are only 20 seconds long.
As for Johnny Test it started on the KidsWB not CN. KidsWB might have different limitations, and CN just didn’t alter the opening.
I mean, don’t get me wrong. I want an awesome opening too, but I’m not sure we’ll get one. I could be completely wrong though. Anime shows are known for their awesome openings and this is being animated in Japan.
Yeah I think Johnny Test has been around since 2005? And that CN can air all the episodes it has now. I didn’t know about that KidsWB thing. I think Adventure Time actually started on nick too very briefly. But that’s another show too that has a short opening as well.
And thanks for your help as well. I’m just really wanting a minute or so great intro. Means a lot to me and I’m sure many of you as well.
What I would’ve liked is for them to just recreate the old opening frame for frame, but with the new designs and animation. I think it still would’ve worked pretty well (assuming Jaga is still gonna be a ghostly advisor). but shrugs we’ll see what they come up with soon.
Maybe they’ll do something like the intro to Avatar: The Last Airbender. Though my complaint with that was I thought they should have changed the opening dialogue with each new book.
I am disappointed that they feel that can’t compete with the original ThunderCats opening. They feel they can make a better series but not a better intro? Please. I call that lazy. :sneaky:
I think TV people are really underestimating good intros the past few years. Seems like half the time they completely ignore them now. But when you think of a show you loved when you were a kid, one of the very first things that pops in your head is the Theme song. Intros were there to garner interest in the show and catchy theme songs stayed in your head and made you think about the show when you weren’t watching it.
And I agree about the wording needed changing in Avatar’s second and third season. At least the line that says " Although his Airbending skills are great, he has a lot to learn before he’s ready to save anyone." Cause after the first season he HAS learned more.
Special treat: While looking around on youtube I saw this intro for Avatar that a fan made in the style of Japanese anime using footage from the show. Thought it was pretty cool.

As you may know, I edited the footage of the trailers to fit in with the classic theme song. I was playing with it a while back, and it is possible to create a 20 second intro using the key parts of the song, but it requires cutting a lot out. So it is possible that what we’ll get is a 20 second version of the classic song with new instruments and vocals, and good animation. So think of it like a condensed version.
I am hoping though, that MAYBE they can animate a special trailer using the whole theme that is very close to the intro, maybe save it for a convention and put it on the DVDs.
