ThunderCats at ComicCon 2011

[COLOR=“Red”]The brand new ThunderCats cartoon from Warner Bros. animation will make it’s world premiere at the 2011 San Diego Comic Convention in a fortnights time! The official SDCC website announced the following details from the official schedule:

3:30-4:30 ThunderCats Premiere Episode Screening and Q&A— Comic-Con, ho! From the moment this series was announced, fans have answered the call — now, the wait is over as Warner Bros. Animation is proud to bring you the world premiere of this new reimagining of the beloved ’80s franchise. Lion-O, Tygra, Panthro, Cheetara, Wily Kit, and Snarf are back! After the screening, producers Michael Jelenic (Batman: The Brave and the Bold) and Ethan Spaulding (Avatar: The Last Airbender), art director Dan Norton (G.I. Joe: Resolute), and members of the voice cast will discuss what viewers can expect in the first season of this exciting new series. ThunderCats premieres in a special one-hour episode on Friday, July 29 at 8/7c on Cartoon Network. Room 6A

Not much new info, but confirmation of a Q&A’s.

Poor Kat, just can’t get any respect. He kept striving for it back in the OS and her we are in the NS and he still can’t get it. Poor kid.

Robin Atkin Downes just tweeted that he’s gonna be there too, so it looks like they might actually have more of the cast there with them this time.

It says everyone checking into the convention gets this bag (Thundercats is one of 10 designs). Its the official Comic-con bag! That means they’re making danged sure everyone in the convention knows about the new show. Good publicity.

Again just hoping someone will at least get a video recording of the intro during the screening. And post it on youtube. Do they allow that for the con? I’m not sure what there rules are.

I remember when a trailer for Generator Rex premiered at SDCC and then made it’s way online thanks to a phone recording.

There was a post of the whole wondercon panel on youtube last time. it eventually got taken down, but not before tons of us got to see it. I’m kinda hoping the same thing will happen this time. lol

Ya know…Seeing how the panel is only an hour long, and they’re premiering the show AND doing a Q&A I’m thinking that they’ll really only screen the 1st episode of the premiere (which is technically going to be two episodes) and folks will still have to watch on the 29th to catch the second half.

Isn’t whats airing for the premiere the same thing being shown at SDCC? The first two episodes? If so, that takes up about 40-45 minutes. Which allows for 15-20 minutes of Q&A.

Well comic-con has it on their site as “3:30-4:30 ThunderCats Premiere Episode Screening and Q&A—”

It just says “episode.” And I don’t think an hour would be long enough to show both the episodes, and do a Q&A. I could be wrong though. shrugs

According to the Matthew Mercer interview in another thread, they will be showing both episodes and will do the Q&A.

yup. Matthew Mercer confirmed it. I completely missed that the first time I listened. he said the 2 episodes would be about 45 minutes.

From what I heard so far from friends who attended the panel, the episode was amazing and recieved many cheers from the audience! Hopefully we will have a full report of the screening tomorrow!

Did they end up not doing the Q/A? If they did, I wish someone recorded it like at WonderCon. Of course, I imagine they might not cameras there.

from what that article said they didnt do an actual Q&A. didn’t have time after the screening. I think they just talked about the show.

I just hate getting left in the dark. This is the biggest event for ThunderCats before the official premiere and we still only know so little.

I know. with sites saying they’d have live updates and stuff and then saying absolutely nothing after they get in line is a little frustrating.
