Do you believe Bandai would release the classic style figures in stores first before the new toys hit this autumn? (just to test out the popularity of this brand!)
sorry for double post but I just noticed that in the promo pic, Tygra has a gun. Since when do the thundercats use guns? Only gun i remember were Tuska and Safari Joe’s, none of the main cats ever used a gun, ugh.

In Pumm-Ra, in the Thundercats war room they had a collectio guns…and the Thundarian guards in The Trouble With Time had guns.
That makes me a little sad, Chris. You guys knew absolutely nothing? I mean, Mattel has fully embraced He-Man.org. Come on Bandai, we deserve a little bit here.

I’m actually under the impression that He-Man.Org and Mattel don’t have a particularly great relationship these days (check out a recent episode of the He-Man.Org podcast, Roast Gooble Dinner, to hear what I mean), but I know that in the past they have been able to work together… 
Nope, I can truthfully say none of us on the team had any prior knowledge about this stuff being featured at Toy Fair in London - to my knowledge (even though in reality it isn’t me that it would be sent to) we also haven’t been sent the press release that’s been doing the rounds of some of the news sites with the first official image, etc. Perhaps they don’t perceive us as a news site?
I would say that over the years at different times we’ve had a great relationship with some ThunderCats licensees, including the UK home video branch of Warner Bros themselves, and have an amazing relationship with the folks involved in the ThunderCats statues / stactions, so it’s not too bad - and, I have to say I would hate to see this site lose its independence and become an official arm of Warner Bros or something like that, so to be honest although I’d dearly love to see this site working closely with WB / Bandai, etc., to help promote the new ThunderCats series (which we all want to be a success), I’m cool with however things pan out.

Would be interesting to see if they show up in stores at all. I for one would rather it be online only if its a limited released (by limited I mean a few thousand pieces, not 100,000 or more).
As for the other figures, I’m starting to worry if Bandai’s going to oversaturate the market with three different figure lines? As a collector, obviously all of the above would be the great choice, but if I"m choosing, which should I get for collectible value? The 3-3/4"? The 5-6"? The Classics (the obvious answer I know, just from Jim Schmoe’s perspective).
You can’t walk into a TRU store without seeing 10-20 different pegwarmer DCU figures from two or three different lines out there. I know from experience having looked around for the MOTUC/DCUC 2 packs. Wal-Mart is just as bad with Transformers.
I hope Bandai shows some restraint in what they release for this show instead of just shoving out as much as they can to make a few bucks.
I like the realistic image of lion-o thats on the packaging, pretty cool.
Don’t take it personally. I’ve been in the toy industry for over 10 years now and I spent half of today emailing companies because they haven’t returned my email requests for toy fair appointments..and I still don’t have everyone locked in. I ran Action-figure.com for years and its actually worse now than it was back then.
With Bandai, like I said before, they really aren’t set up to interact with the collector community, but they know you exist so not to worry. I pointed you out yesterday. As far as news goes, you pretty much have to go looking for it on your own. I haven’t gotten a press release from Bandai in years and the only reason i had the WB image is because I have access to their press site. I’ll be taking tons of pics at toy fair, so not to worry there, and if you want to know specific things, just make me a list and i’ll make sure they are asked.
You owe me that one (meaning you owe me the “I told you so”). You made a call, I questioned it (not entirely, I did say I thought maybe a figure or two with a big reveal at Comic Con), and turns out you were right. I’ll take that humbly
What we at thundercatslair need now is Bandai’s version of a Scott Neitlich. Someone we can keep in close contact with about the line and offer fan input to. Bandai and Mattel probably aren’t run the same way, but at least for the Classics line we need someone from there who we can form a bond with, offer feedback to, and hopefully have some say in how that line will be handled. If for nothing else than at least the Classic line, as that seems to be geared towards the core fans. We should see if we can get a contact for their brand manager of that line to try and see if we can get a bond formed.
It’s definitely long over due for the Cats to get a modern relaunch, and imho, this does not disappoint. Panthro’s bulked up size and Tygra’s suit is the only thing that I was not immediately “Wowed” by, but I understand their reasons for the modifications. All in all, I am VERY excited about this series.

If you look carefully.. Both are actually the same.. Just different angles. The series is him as a teenager
No offense, but if you are so “against” the photos, don’t post and watermark the image on your site. Its been posted, WB and Bandai got free publicity, we got our first OFFICIAL look at the cartoon, and everything will be unveiled in a matter of weeks at the New York Toy Fair.
Can we stop arguing about whether it was ethical or unethical? The damage (or gift, as some might see it) is done. Stop harassing people and calling them names.

My biggest complaint about the new figures is the Classic deluxe line is not in scale with the Modern deluxe line. As long as the Classics line is a success and we get more than Lion-O and Mumm-Ra I will be happy
I think what this all boils down to is the fact that TCL.org got to post the story first before anyone else…HA HA! These pictures started a wonderful chain reaction because if they were never shown, then WB and Bandai never would have given an official release…it would have still stayed under wraps. However I will say this, if Dr. Slump would never have posted these cool pics, somebody else would have.
So since Dr. Slump let the cat out of the bag…(yes, pun intended lol), he gets the bragging rights before anyone else. I know I would have done the exact same thing.
Besides, it was a public event, even if it was originally intended for buyers, if you had a pass, you were able to go in. Just like when I went to New York for the Hotel / Restaurant Convention…it was intended for buyers but the public was allowed in. So it wasn’t like it was a big secret with gag-orders, people would have still talked about the new Thundercats and posted it on their blogs or websites.
I personally think that some reporters are jealous that a regular guy stole their thunder (yes, another pun intended lol) instead of another fellow reporter.
I always loved it when the little guy wins.
Edit I need to add, because of this, all of the other websites are now scrambling to cover the news before other sites do. It’s now a race. When I went to youtube the other day, every video about the new series talks about how they found out about the news here on TCL.org instead of other sites.
the release of those photo’s could have been the best thing for Bandai. Being with the new york toy fair coming, the fan and collector response that has come from those pictures is probably a great marketing help towards their campaign. I mean look at it like this, THUNDERCATS was #3 on yahoo trending when I looked, (not sure if it hit 1).
This is long over due, and i’m happy and excited for the new cartoon, cause maybe now warner bros. can pull their head out of their ass and do a live movie.
Everyone knows those little “no photography” signs are just for show. If you don’t want photos of something to appear all over the internet within minutes of the opening of a show… don’t have them on display. I’m just surprised more pictures haven’t surfaced. Maybe things are different in the UK… but in the States…
If someone at WB or Bandai got fired over this… well, their superior is certainly extremely naive and new to how things work at these types of shows. I’ve been in the game far too long to think anything negative happened as a result.

Im not that impressed with the 4 hard copies of the new show characters they had on display. However the classic Lion O looks awesome and the classic Mumm Ra has wings that open out behind him. Only thing is these are just from artists impressions and not actual 3D models.
I over heard them saying theyd be shipping to stores on the 26th Dec. And that they know demand is going to exceed the orders. This is their cash cow.
Looks like you can attach the classic figures to a magnetic docking station where i think maybe they battle?
The sword of omens looks very cool and has all the movements and actions i wished my 1980’s version had when i was 6.
