This is incredible! I love the way they look and they did a great job with updating the Thundercats’s look to appeal to today’s generation of kids. My kids are going to love this!

I’m really hoping the Classic highly articulated one will be offered online similar to how MOTUC is (but handled much better and with better packaging). Otherwise it’ll be a nightmare trying to find those at retail. Especially with TRU since their distribution starts in the Midwest U.S. and works its way to the fringes and shores (meaning us people on the coast, or at least the east coast don’t see them for several weeks usually after they’ve already been spotted). At least online everyone gets them at the same time and its restricted to the core fans (and scalpers once they catch on), whereas on toy shelves, you also have the casual toy buyers to have to outwit to get them.
I’ve been giving this some thought and while it seems logical for Bandai to follow Mattel’s success with online sales, Bandai may not be set up for such a task yet. I’d expect the collector line on the pegs in some way..maybe in the TRU collector section and online with etailers.
Definitely agree! My wallet will be hurting and my credit card will be laughing fiendishly with evil delight!
As far as your mention of the MOTUC line comparison-wise, the news is still a bit murky and therefore bittersweet. Will the new style 6" Thundercats line be displayable/compatible with MOTUC stylewise (as opposed to the puny pin-headed-by-comparison DCUC figures)??? Unfortunately the news of an additional 8" classic series collector line is a twin-edged sword (pardon the pun) since it will most likely dwarf the MOTUC figures. Until I see actual close up pics, I’ll still hope that the styles will be “close enough” so that occasionally the two universes of MOTUC and Thundercats can crossover for a display…
I am intrigued by the Sword of Omens. If you compare what appears to be the packaged item vs the loose one, there is something odd about it.
The packaged one has a hilt that seems to be adjustable (right side seems lower than left). But the angle between hilt and handle appears to be very close to 90 degrees. Also, the hilt has a flat bottom going out to a point before arcing in as it goes up to the curved point on top.
However, the loose one has a smaller angle between handle and hilt. There is no flat bottom to the hilt. And the end of the curved tips look almost like they may be retractable.
Also, at first glance the blades don’t look like they match. Unless the point coming out above the eye retracts into the eye along with part of the sword.
Or maybe the two swords are different items completely…

I think the classics line will be designed to match the original toys, just like the MOTU Classics (from my understanding) are the same size and design as the '80’s figures. As such, the original ThunderCats line was a good bit larger than the MOTU figures of the time.
Those side pieces on the sword are meant to move. Can’t tell you much more than that.
Actually the MOTUC classics figures are much larger than their originals from the 80’s though the muscular style has been retained and greatly expanded on with modern sculpting/articulation.
I will definitely look forward to seeing pics of these lines though (ever hopeful, though I wish both were 6-7")
The MOTUC are not the same size as the 80’s originals. They are only slightly shorter than the LJN Lion-O:

However I don’t think the LJN figures were totally in scale with each other…I hope the ThunderCats Classics figures will be around the same size as the LJN Lion-O (though if they make them very slightly shorter, they will display great with the MOTUC figures!)
I see. I have not seen a MOTU Classic in person, or in a shot to give a comparison until now. That is quite interesting. I had thought they were actually reproductions of the originals. But I can see now why they are sought after, larger size and more articulation. Wow, I hope the TCat classic line has nice upgrades too.

I like the new designs (Lion-O’s even got random arm hair, like me!), but think the half-shirt on Cheetara’s pretty unnecessary. Granted we all saw her in less back in Exodus, but c’mon now. And how many runners do you know with breasts that size?
I don’t see the scars on Panthro in the pic but if they’re on the toy that’s a neat idea – he’s supposed to be the oldest and the one who’s seen the most (particularly if we’re looking at a younger Tygra in this version); it makes sense that he’s taken his lumps.
Curious about the “classic” toys, too.
But the telescoping sword looks like a winner. Maybe for Christmas…

Appears they’ve all got hair on their bodies and cat ears, for a little bit more furry ick – I’ve always pointed out that the Thundercats weren’t anthropomorphic cats so much as feline-morphic humans. We’ll be seeing furry porn of Cheetara any day now, and I for one did not need that.
Oh hey, you know what else is interesting? The hilt on the sword in that pic looks like it did on the original series, not like the toy photo. Did somebody say something about the hilt curling on the toy?
Wonder what that gun is that Tygra’s holding. Expect something to do with those things attached to his belt.
And the asymmetric armwear (Tygra’s single glove, Lion-O’s single shoulderpad) has kind of an unfortunate Nomura feel to it, but at least they’re not all covered in belts.
It might sound like I’m griping but all in all I actually think it looks great. Looking forward to it.

I can confirm this: High quality pictures of the exhibited toyline have been circulating facebook since yesterday morning (right after mine). I will not post them (or any links) since I don’t want to be any more involved in this apart from those I already uploaded in addition that the pictures taken by others are of much higher quality rather than my sneak peek snaps.
I really love the new designs and the toys. I can’t wait to get them. I like the Classic line but it will depend on their price and how they are purchased. I will definitely be getting the 3.75" and the 6" figures and all the vehicles etc.

Love the new designs. This was one of my biggest concerns going into this new series but that worry is now lifted. HOWEVER… there is one thing that really bothers me. If you look at the wallpaper image, the ThunderCat logo is missing from the red emblem the ThunderCats are wearing. That’s just plain lazy. It had better be included in the final version…
