Um… if she’s not an adult or teenager, she’d have to be a child. I haven’t figured out yet if Lion-O is an older teenager or if he’s a young adult.

Sokka got too annoying to me at times. I would hope they don’t make Bengali like him.

Here’s my vote…

Pumyra and Bengali grew up in an orphanage. Pumyra is older and like a big sister to Bengali. I would make Pumyra to be about 1-3 years younger than Lion-O. I’d make Bengali to be a year or two younger than her. Bengali is a hot headed, angry teen whose anger gets him into trouble more times than not. Pumyra is the only one who can calm him down becuase he really respects her and on a deep level, wants her approval and acceptance because she’s the only one who’s really ever given it to him. Pumyra is mature and has a motherly instinct to her as she really looked after the younger kids in the orphange moreso than whoever the caretaker was. The kids had the tendancy to go to her for advice and since she has healing abilities, that helped her to bond with them even more.

Lynx-O worked on the street where the orphanage was and the kids all really liked him, as they would a grandfather. During the invasion, Lynx-O is blinded and Pumyra and Bengali aid him in escaping. Lynx-O has worked hard to try and teach Bengali how to control his anger but since Bengali has never been able to name what he is truly angry at, it’s been a hard task.

The 3 meet up with our heroes. Pumyra becomes a new romantic interest for Lion-O since it didn’t work out for him and Cheetara. Cheetara sees him like a little brother. But Pumyra sees Lion-O differently. Bengali becomes jealous though and fearful of losing the one person in his life who has always mattered, thus more conflict for Lino-O since Bengali has now targeted his anger on him.

To the first statement, I meant that we don’t want a huge group of adults or a huge group of teenagers. If Bengali and Pumyra are teenagers and Lynxo is an adult, it would level the field of there being 3 of each in the group, 3 adults, 3 teenagers, 3 kids/critter. Though I can see how I worded that worked out weird.

Second, I like that idea, it would give new jealousy issues in the void of Tygra’s as well as give another rivalry without hurting too many hearts.

The biggest question is: if in an orphanage, how did Bengali inherent the Hammer? And how will Pumyra get her medical knowledge? You can learn field medicine easily if you have the right teachers, but if they came from orphanage, where did she learn? Though if it was maybe a religious orphanage (like those catholic nunneries or something) she could be taught by one of them. (though then she might be alittle too much like Cheetara who is Jaga’s last mage student.)

Edit: Miscounted again, It would be 4 adults, 3 teens, and 3 kids/critter While not exactly level, it works better.

I like the idea of Pumyra beinga Tsundere to Lion-O, but I hope she’s more on the dere side and doesn’t have too much bite. I think she should be more feminine than Cheetara, but we’ll see. Cheetara seems pretty cool headed, so maybe Pumyra being the spicy one can work.

Here’s what I think.

I never was convinced at all, neither liked it, that in the OS, Bengali, Pumyra and Lynx-O were together and already friends when Thundera exploded. I mean, yes, it could have happened because of many reasons, but it just didn’t make sense in my head that two youngsters were already friends with an old guy (again, not that it can’t happen, I just didn’t feel it right).

So I don’t want them all 3 knowing each other already. Pumyra and Bengali might be, because they’re closer in age, but let’s have Lynx-O in his own this time.

So here’s what I have thought for them:

Lynx-O: he’s an old, wise hermit, maybe a former pupil or friend of Jaga, blind as in the original series, living in the outsides of Thundera. He knows a lot about Thundera’s history, and will help the TCs in their quest by providing them valuable information and orientation. He might sense their strengths and flaws when they meet (because, being trained by Jaga, he has something special, just like we presume Cheetara will). He won’t join them, but he might be a recurrent character they look for in some episodes (like the Sorceress in MOTU). So he might be a mix between the original Lynx-O and Jagara (and hopefully we won’t see her in the show).

Pumyra and Bengali: unlike some of you, I don’t like the idea of Pumyra being older than Bengali, but him being older. I’ll make Bengali between Lion-O and Tygra in age, and Pumyra slightly younger than Lion-O, or even his same age.

I think Bengali and Pumyra could have been friends since childhood, and he had a crush with her all his life, so he was always overprotective of her, but never dared to tell her about it because she always had dreams of becoming a warrior, and was skilled in martial arts (ok, I took it from Maiden… liked that) and she made her own slingshot. So she’s a tough female Thunderian, which would rivalize in that aspect with Cheetara. Cheetara has her magic and sixth sense, Pumyra her medical skills, and they constantly are in competence about who is better and more important to the team.

Bengali, on the other hand, is not the vehement, kind of silly guy from the old series. He’s more mature and calm, don’t let his feelings betray him (the counterpart of Tygra, who I think will be taken by his jealousy at some point, not to the extreme of betraying the team, but almost).

When Lion-O loses Cheetara to Tygra (because he will :D), he turns to Pumyra and they will get involved for a while; Bengali becomes jealous, but he’s conflicted because he has to respect the Lord of the TC’s choice, and if Lion-O chose Pumyra, then Bengal can’t do anything against it. But Pumyra, after seeing Bengali as an older brother all her life, realizes she really loves him… or not?

I think Lion-O shouldn’t end up with either Cheetara or Pumyra… he should look for a female outside the gang, or the series ending with him just dedicating himself to the kingdom (of course, he would eventually marry someone, but the series wouldn’t show that).

And I do want an ocelot in the show… maybe a grown-up female.

I’ve never liked the idea of Lion-O growing old without a mate. Part of “dedicating himself to the kingdom” would include providing an heir to the throne. And a Queen would also be a HUGE help in running a kingdom. They aren’t just shoulder ornaments. I don’t think it should be Cheetara, because frankly this time around she’s part of the royal body guards. But he should have someone who could be his equal.

Yes, of course, that’s why I said he would eventually get it. Remember he’s kind of young during the series events, he ahs to grow up and mature as an adult and a king/ruler first, before choosing a quenn, IMO. And I think the show will focus on that when it comes to his character.

XD Martial arts just goes the best with slings to me. That and with medical agent, because in case you’re in a situation trying to heal someone, you could suddenly be surrounded by enemies and with martial arts you can actually defend yourself at least until back-up comes. (probably comes from my firefighter cousin who’s also an EMT))

As for choosing a queen and all, really I want to see him develop as a character, but isn’t a love interest part of developing a character? It shows some insights to some aspects of the personality we might never see if the character as no love interest. They also can add tension and flesh to a character (or ruin a character if done wrong).

I want the love interest and a love that’s actually returned so that we can see him develop in that aspect as he’s slowly learning all it means to be a man and a king of a nation. If they outright do the ‘I love you, you love me, I want you to be my queenie’ (omg someone shoot me in the head for that), that’s fine, but only after developing the relationship between Lion-o and Pumyra. I don’t want it thrown together (Dear God don’t we have enough of that in those post-Twilight horrors that are coming out?) I want it developed and fleshed, that it feels like a real relationship that has both Lion-o and Pumyra maturing into adults in love and getting them ready to take on a nation.

Pumyra with a more mature attitude would be a good side to Lion-o to act as a voice of reason in his anger. Sometimes only the person you love can get through to you when you’re ****ed off to hell and back, and Lion-o is supposedly suppose to be brash and hot-headed in the coming series.

So again, choosing a queen or not, they need to develop him and the relationship should he have a love interest, more than focus on him getting married and such. Cause really, what girl wants to have a wedding in the middle of a war anyways?! XD

I don’t think it’ll happen in the series either. Plus I imagine he’d be expected to marry another lion to preserve the royal lion bloodlines.

Yeah but then they would have to randomly pop in some lioness based female. I don’t think it’s much the whole ‘gotta be a lion.’ thing that it is it has to be the King’s direct bloodline…granted that brings up the question of how have they been lions so long, but if we go by normal biology, all the interbreeding between the different ‘species’ would make them all appear as one similar colored and marked species (aside then from random mutations of color like a full melanistic or luekania). Unless there’s like some heavy class system that says you have to marry/produce with the exact same ‘species/class’ you are, which then ruins the Tygra/Cheetara pairing.

So like I said, I don’t think it really matters if the female is a lion, just as long as it’s Lion-o’s heir. It be part lion anyways.

As I’ve said, make breeding like Pokemon. It makes things so much easier. The offspring always comes out the same species as it’s mother. Emolga (M) and Pikachu (F) have a kid, the kid is of the same species as Pikachu(F). >_>

Also on the topic of heir…that’s one thing I liked about the Wildstorm Comics. Lion-O didn’t have one and he was nearing his final years. He was asked to choose an heir. Which added to the whole revolution and new type of rule and ideals the ThunderCats went with as they learned new things in Third Earth. It’s not bloodline that makes a leader, it’s their heart. Now I’m hoping they heavily tackle that subject with the Tygra thing..

from what I understood in the scenes we’ve seen the heir is chosen by bloodline, but they’re not a true king if the sword doesn’t choose them as well. I’m not exactly sure what would’ve happened if Lion-O wasn’t worthy. Guess Claudus would’ve had to start looking for a new wifey. lol

That’s very true, though I will be sad if Lion-o doesn’t have any love interest that returns his feelings. Maybe it’s just girly-girl in me shining through wanting romance in the middle of an action storyline. Head smashing and gut-gashing along with some lovey-doveiness in the downtime. Ah well.

I think we’re jumping ahead of ourselves a bit honestly. His love interest in the first season will be Cheetara with the whole triangle thing. If he were to have another interest it would probably happen in the second season. Still, it’s fun to speculate. only a week and a half left!!

Oh most definitely. If there IS any marriage at all, it would be at the end of the series.

So lets get back to the real thing we were talking about. Speculation on how the writers are going to portray Pumyra! (and Bengali and Lynxo of course :D)
