I’ve always loved the addition of the new thundercats, i liked the deep story behind them, and they enriched the show. However one of the things that always bothered me was when liono called for help with the sword of omens and only the old thundercats would show up…it didnt make sense they all have the insignia that alerts them. In other episodes the thundercats were in deep trouble and no one ever thought of calling the new thundercats for help, its as if for some episodes they didnt exist, like if they were back in season 1 and 2. so i hope they dont do that and keep it consistent. Another thing i hope they dont do is pull a “Hordak” in MOTU 2000’s, where they mention and show him in a quick flashback or cameo and leave you wishing to see them.

I doubt they’ll pull that.

If we’re getting them, they’ll be developed and fleshed out. What would be the point of them in an arc divided show other wise? They’d bring nothing new to the table and just slow things down.

You sound kind of emotional about that.

The Thursday release thing mentioned that there’s obviously a major back story to the twins. It’ll be interesting to find out what it is. If I could write the back story on them, I would have had their parents die when they were infants, raised in an orphange that was overfull with kids so the twins decide to run away figuring they can take care of themselves and having the comfort of not being alone since they have each other. So they grow up not knowing anything about their identity, who their parents were, etc… When they meet up with Lion-O and company, the truth of their past comes to light. Their parents were heroes, sacrificing their lives for a noble purpose. This insight gives the kids a new identity and worthy of wearing ThunderCat insignias. :thumbsup:

I guess it’s because not only is it more realistic, but the story telling quality. If that where to be the case for them, you can be sure that the other cats and the viewers will appreciate the kids even more and admire them for being so strong. It would also further reinforce the whole “we’re a family” motif the original show had going for the Thundercats small group. :slight_smile:

The only reason why I mention the twins being abandoned by their negligent parents is not only realistic in tone, but would be similar to how Prince Zuko’s father, Fire Lord Ozai favored Princess Azula over Prince Zuko as heir to the Fire Nation’s throne. Look at how Zuko was shunned at the beginning of the series. -And, as much as I disliked Azula for her terrible personality, I loved how corrupt she was, and how she went utterly insane at the end of the series, when Aang took Fire Lord Ozai’s fire bending abilities away. It was very well played and I can very much see this kind of serious tone with WilyKat and Kit’s parents being negligent, uncaring and abandoning them at a very young age.

I can see WilyKat having to be strong for his sister, but somewhere down the line, break down and get emotional because he not only cares for his twin sister, but because of the implied sense of not being loved (the whole “What’s wrong with me, why does the world hate me?” complex comes to mind) is hard on anybody, even the strongest of warriors.

I can see a lot of emotional stories about those two, along with the rest of the ThunderCats, namely Tygra, since he’s Claudus’s adopted son. The angle of being adopted brings a new light to Tygra and he’ll probably wonder who his ancestors are, and he’ll probably ask himself what is his purpose, why is he here and so on.

I wonder if Kit and Kat will have any issues with Tygra. About how he “lucked up” and got adopted by the King while they had to scrape and steal to get by.

Continuing with the example of Zuko. His relationship with his uncle made his situation even more special. Which can relate to the kids and Tygra. They where shunned at some point, but found something better else where. And for Tygra, finding something better elsewhere could lie in the romance subplot.

And that’s a good point balgus82. It would make the team dynamics more interesting if the kittens get such an impression from Tygra.

I think his character is a little young for that kind of complexity in the show and based on what I saw in the deleted leaked clip, I don’t see them taking his character on that kind of path. I could be wrong, but I would be very surprised.

From what I read, I thought it sounds like the kittens are going to be the ones to lighten the mood, more of a comedic relief. I don’t get the impression they’re going to go dark with the kids. From what I read, it sounds like that’s why they chose to make the kids younger than the original, to make them a little lighter to offset the heavier moods of the adults.

I doubt. They might have issues like that if Tygra was a kid but considering Tygra is an adult, I seriously doubt it’ll be an issue. I think if anything, Tygra might have a unique perspective and develop a bond with the kids that the others don’t have. But we don’t know how old Tygra was when he was adopted nor the circumstances surrounding it. For example, if he was an infant when he was adopted, he might not really be able to relate as much to the kids. But if he was ever in a similar circumstance as them, then probably would.

I’m not going to hold my breath on that one. I’d like to see it because Tygra’s my fav, but I have doubts the people making the show will take his character in that direction. What I could see the show doing is Tygra winning the kids affection and loyalty and using that to only annoy Lion-O further.

I’m just speaking from what I think would be a good and fair story telling perspective lol. Personally I’ve always preffered the Lion-O pairing. But I’m willing to get passed that to enjoy a good story.

Maybe they could make Bengali to be close to the kids ages.

Or maybe, being the 3 of them orphans, they bond because if that and the twins look up to him.

The total reason that I joined this site was actually to talk on this whole subject.

  1. Okay, from old resourses (ie: the after comics), Tygra wins over Cheetara. So naturally I’m gonna hope for Tygra/Cheetara. And hey, if the kid gets the kingdom, Tygra definitely deserves the chick. Sides, while I love older women with younger boys; I’m not all that into this Cheetara yet. She’s gonna have to do some work to gain my heart.

  2. And now, for my main reason of talking PUMYRA!

a. Omg, who ever had the idea for Pumyra being Lion-o’s love interest? You are a genius!!! I so hope that happens. Pumyra was such an awesome character that was totally screwed over by the writers in her creation. The series cried out for another older female, and what do they do with her? They give her awesomeness and totally throw her flatter than a pancake!!! It is a disgrace!!

b. Pumyra should be about Lion-o’s age, we don’t want to overpower the group with adults or teenagers. Lynx-o, Mr. Badass himself, should stay as he is. He’s an inspiration to all kids with disabilities that they can be just as cool and awesome as anyone without a disability, maybe even awesomer >D. Bengali on the other hand, he could go either way. I prefer him older for the blacksmithing, but he could be pretty fun as a teenager.

c. Pumyra better as hell be fleshed out or I will revolt!!!

1c. Pumyra was awesome in development. She had a ton of potential, and that should be worked with in the series. She’s a HEALER, one of the most important aspects of any fighting team. You can do fine with an army, but what do you do when they’re all knocked down and bleeding? Any general will tell you you need 3 things to succeed: Supplies, good men, and medics.

2c. Pumyra’s weapon was treated horribly. A sling is an amazing ranged weapon. For goodness sakes, how did the tiny David take down Goliath? It’s a great weapon that in a pair of skilled hands can be deadly. While not great for fighting melee, it works much like a long-ranged mace. Combined with judo or martial arts (with Pumyra’s agility and jumping ability that wouldn’t be too hard to believe) That would be an ass-kicking medic!

d. Now on a personal note, mostly for comedy, I want Pumyra’s attitude more assertive. Cause with a hot-headed teen boy she’s gotta deal with, she’s gonna need some bite to make him sit down and let her tend to him. I loved someone bringing up Avatar airbender, if she had a bite like Katara, she’d bring a pretty awesome dynamic to the group. Bossy, assertive, and attempting to be mature while falling into the same pitfalls of teenage moodiness. If not that, I would like (if any of you are anime watchers) a ‘Tsundere’ interaction between Pumyra and Lion-O. If anything it will bring some pretty funny scenes among all the war and action.

So, as an aspiring girl animator (for either video games or catoons), I really REALLY REALLY hope that Pumyra gets fleshed out and suited up. And most definitely I want Lion-O to have a girlfriend after Tygra takes his first love. C’mon all you Pumyra fans, if we wish loud enough maybe it will come true! :thumbsup:

Your ideas for Pumyra sound awesome. A medic who also specializes in martial arts. Lion-O has the sword, Cheetara her speed, Tygra his tricks, Panthro his strength and machines, Lynx-O his keen senses, so Pumyra balacing out her healing knowledge with knowledge of martial arts would be pretty awesome and would make her stand out from Cheetara, which is why she suffered in the original show. They just didn’t know what to do with a second leading female.

Ofcourse, looking at what all the older cats bring to the table makes me question what could be thought up for Bengali. But then you mentioned Pumyra being similar in personality and role to Katara from Aribender…I’d lol if Bengali was a teenager with a similar set up to Sokka, who despite not being as special as the others, pulls through to the end with his own quirks.

As to the romance, the set up for her and Lion-O can work, but I’d enjoy it more if it took more time to develope, and if it developed alongside the final moments of Lion-O’s crush on Cheetara.

But only time will tell…but the idea of keeping Lynx-O the same, Pumyra being given a more active role and Bengali taking the role of a teenager has peaked my interest. XD

Oh yeah, definitely a Pumyra fan XD If I could find a decent Pumyra avatar I would be rocking it right now.

Yes, I defintely believe in a developing relationship. That’s why I said for the Tsundere type relationship, she’s tough and hard on Lion-o but has growing feelings for him. It gives an opening for Lion-o to compare Pumyra to Cheetara, causing Pumyra alot of internal strife and jealousy.

Then we can have funny arguments between the two, which gives us time to grow to like them together, and allow them time to sort out their growing feelings. It also gives Lion-o time to get over his loss of Cheetara and lay those feelings to rest and become stronger.

Also, I love the Sokka idea for Bengali, it gives Lion-o a buddy other than his older brother, which will help settle him better. Also it gives Bengali a great spot along with his blacksmithing (that he’s getting good at) in the dynamic without pulling too much off others.

There is one thing I want to add to Lynxo though. I want him to be the tea brewer. Or if anyone saw Cowboy Bebop, to be the bonsai cultivator. (I do hope they make him burlier like Panthro. I love burly guys, they make me think of my Daddy.)

I think Sokka might be a bad comparison for Bengali. Sokka is very much the comic relief and I wouldn’t want that for Bengali. If I were to compare him to an Avatar character I would have to say I’d like him to be more like Zuko. Quiet, thoughtful, skilled, yet lets his temper get the best of him quite often.

Hmm…You got a point. The kids will bring comic relief along with a younger Lion-o, if Pumyra is added in the same dynamic, it might be overpowering. However, if if he’s going to be Quiet and Skilled, he might be better as an adult. And then it might be too much that way too, because it seems to be Tygra is going to be the Quiet, Skillful, Thoughtful one that lets his temper get over him at times.

It’s hard to tell, other than being the blacksmith what kind of character he would be best suited as for the group dynamic. As someone pointed out, it’s HARD to write for a group, so the group has to work cohesively or others will get left out and fight for attention.

It might be that Bengali might need to take up the ‘rival’ aspect for Lion-o. While Tygra rivals Lion-o for Cheetara’s attention, he makes up the older brother aspect. Lion-o needs a rival as well as a friend that’s his age. Tygra will have won the lady’s affection and calm in his jealousy, and Lion-o will then have another rival to take up the slack.

Other than that, I’m out of ideas for Bengali.

well, in any case, I’ve finished drawing what I hope Pumyra to look like. XD Like I said, I’m an aspiring animator, so I love doing character designs. Now all I got to do is get this scanned in.

I decided to give her a low tied ponytail. It was first planned for Cheetara if you look at her character sheet, but was passed on for a free long hair. I kept her hair tails in the front, but made them part of her bangs and made her bangs white, along with the tip of the ponytail. Kept her facial markings of course, minus the eyeshadow.

Now just to design her outfit. I can’t decide if I want to keep her skirt or go with some awesome micro pants.

Lol, believe it or not I wasn’t thinking about the comic relief aspect. But what he brought to the table in terms of skills, despite being thought little of the kid always proved people wrong and exceled in swordfighting, because he kept trying. Those aspects would work great for Bengali IMO.

I can’t see Bengali being quiet unless he’d be shy. But I like the temper idea. Thinking the others think little of him driving him of the edge at times. xD
