Thought I’d start this thread where folks can discuss the upcoming movie as well as post any new info about it.

It’s pretty cool seeing Bebop and Rocksteady on the big screen. 
I would be interested in seeing this movie to see if it’s better than the first Michael Bay TMNT movie. The first one was all about April. I have a feeling that this movie should have been called April O’Neil The Movie 2 : April Meets Casey.
I agree! Though I can’t say that I’m really a fan of their voices. To me they just sound a bit “soft”. I was expecting a bit more “grizzly” voice. But that’s just me.
LOL! :biggrin Very true. I think that’s Michael Bay’s “style”. Like how the “Transformers” movies were more about Sam than the robots. If he made a ThunderCats movie it would probably focus more on the Warrior Maidens than any other characters! :laugh

Or Ro-Bear Bill and the Berbils. At this point any type of a Thundercats movie, even a Michael Bay one 
:eek::thumbsdown would be a welcome addition to breath a bit of life back in the franchise.

These designs for Casey and Shredder look far better than the designs used in the movie.
Casey in the movie looks nothing like how the character should look.
I think the Krang design they went with looks a lot better.
I am a fan of the old TMNT Movie, so this new look for the Turtles doesn’t appeal to me at all! But thats just me ! :confused

The first TMNT movie was very faithful to the old Mirage comics. It was a nice mix of several issues. The only part from the cartoon was making April a reporter.

So finally saw the movie and it was a lot of fun!! I found it to be much, MUCH better than the first one, in almost every aspect (story, character development, humor, color). It’s not going to get any Oscar nods, but if you’re a fan of the original cartoons, then you’ll really enjoy it. Plenty of homages to the cartoons and some to Michael Bay as well. I could definitely hear some resemblance in the music to the music of “Armageddon”.
The new characters (Krang, Bebop, Rocksteady) are all very carton accurate in both looks and characterization. The new Shredder is also better. Perhaps the only new character that I wasn’t too thrilled about was Casey Jones. The character only wears his signature mask for about 2 minutes, and Stephen Amell’s take on the character, to me, just seemed a bit too similar to Chris Pratt’s “Star-Lord” from “Guardians of the Galaxy”. :sneaky
Splinter hardly had anything to do in the movie. Vernon also had his part shortened, understandably since now Casey is the “hero”. April didn’t hog the plot like the first one, which I preferred, and Tyler Perry was good as Baxter Stockman as well, though he’ll probably have a bigger and meatier role in the third movie. Laura Linney was wasted as a one-dimensional character, the stereotypical head of law enforcement who does not believe the good guys until it’s too late. They could have literally cast any other actor in that role and it wouldn’t have made a difference. 
One small thing that was a bit illogical was Stockman’s explanation of Bebop and Rocksteady’s transformation into a rhino and a warthog. According to him, inside every human there’s a dormant animal gene from our animal ancestor, and the Mutagen Ooze allows that gene to dominate the human and turn into its respective ancestor. :confused Oh, come on! That is a bit too far-fetched. Humans did not evolve from rhinos or warthogs so they can never be our ancestors. I think the cartoon had a much more logical and believable explanation for that. I wish they would have stuck with that. :unsure
I know, I know, folks will probably be thinking why am I making a fuss over such a small thing when its a movie featuring ninja turtles and a talking brain! This movie requires a fair bit of suspension of disbelief, but that can only work if some of the basic laws of nature/science are not completely ignored. :00
The movie does feature an inter-dimensional portal, and while some people are probably tired of those since we have seen them in plenty of movies released in the past couple of years (Avengers, Transformers 3, Pacific Rim, Thor 2 etc.), the Turtles used it in their cartoons long before these movies sop they have every right to use it again!

It’s a shame about Casey not wearing the mask much or from what I read having any similarities to the comic book character.
I actually got the first one on DVD the other day in ASDA for £1. I bought a DVD of the 2012 TMNT cartoon for £4 but the offer allowed two DVDs for £5 so I got the movie. There wasn’t a great selection of other DVDs.
it’s too bad the movie made less than the first one. any hopes for a third might rest on the DVD/BD sales and/or movie version toy sales.
It still made $100 million over its budget though so there is still a chance for a third one.
Yeah, Casey is nothing like his comic book character. Neither in looks nor in the character’s back story.

I didn’t know that. I think the first one left such a bad taste in people’s mouth’s that they didn’t go to see the second one. Which is a shame because it was definitely better. In fact, I think this movie should have been the first one.

I finally seen the movie and yes it is quite a lot of fun and far better than the first one. It is very much like the cartoon in a good way.
The plot seems like it came straight from the cartoon.
My only gripe with the whole film is Casey Jones. The guys characters, look etc is nothing like the Casey of the comics or cartoons and really think the actor was really miscast to play him. Maybe in a third movie they can change his look and give him a better story.
I was really happy that the Turtles were the real stars of this movie and were likeable and interesting.
I would give this movie a 7 or 8 out of 10.
I am not being overly generous with that grade, the movie does what it was supposed to and that was be fun and have an original story something a couple other big controversial movies were really lacking.

I totally agree. This movie was just plain simple fun, as a TMNT movie should be. I am so glad the makers didn’t jump into the “dark/serious/gritty” bandwagon. I know the original comics were quite dark, but the TMNT brand has grown into something completely opposite of that. I feel TMNT should be mostly about fun, like “Ant-Man” or “Guardians of the Galaxy”, there’s enough serious comic book movies around.
In my earlier post I pointed out my gripe about Casey Jones as well. They totally messed up his character. They should have made him close to the 1990 movie. Maybe the makers wanted to exploit Stephen Amell’s popularity and hence the Hockey Mask was abandoned, pretty much like what happened with Stallone in “Judge Dredd”.

Even Shredder does not wear his mask for all that long in the film.
Bebop, Rocksteady and Krang were very well done. I gotta ask though, Was Rocksteady supposed to be Irish?
I’m still not too happy about the look of the Turtles themselves though. There’s just too much going on there. They look like something out of a Mad Max movie with all the junk and tatters that they wear.

I think it was just that they cast Sheamus (WWE wrestler) as Rocksteady.
I agree about the Turtles. Their designs are very busy but I suppose there going for a look of them being sewer scavengers. Personally I think they could do with losing a lot of the stuff they wear and just wear their masks etc like in the comics and cartoons. Wearing and carrying so much stuff would surely get in the way of a ninja.
