maybe there’ll be a third direct-to-video movie where the turtles will go back in time…hur, hur, hur…:laugh
The old Turtles 3 movie wasn’t a direct to video movie, it was released at the cinema. I know as my Mum and Dad took my cousin and me to see it. 
sure, I remember. I also remember bombing at the theaters and people walking out.
I also think Nick/Paramount won’t follow the same mistake that New Line did and spent all that money on making part three for it to make less than the second one.
Turtles has a dedicated audience thanks to the current cartoon, so a direct-to-video is a safe bet and with a drastically reduced budget: they could even go with and all cgi affair.

CG1 movie in 2006 didn’t do that great. but it was okay.
The current cartoon is great. I would love to see a feature movie of the cartoon.
I just looked it up and you are correct the second movie made quite a bit less than the first…surprisingly.
According to various news sites the Turtles, Megan Fox and Tyler Perry signed on to do a third movie but it seems there is no plans at present for another following the weaker box office performance of the second.
I think the first movie may be to blame for the second one’s poor box office. According to most critics and viewers, the second movie is much better than the first, but many people who went to see the first one (with plenty of expectations) were very disappointed and thus didn’t even bother with the second one, which actually was better.
Usually it is the other way around. When a first movie does well, people throng to see the sequel and it might end up making even more money than the original, even if it is not as good. “Iron Man 3”, “Spiderman 3”, “Transformers Revenge of the Fallen” all benefited from this.

It is a real shame as the second was so much better.
I completely agree those sequels, whilst financially out preforming the previous movies, they were nowhere near as good as the first movies.

I don’t think those early trailers for it helped: with more emphasis on comedy and with rap music playing in the background, might have reminded many of the original TMNT 2: Secret of the Ooze…you know, the one with the ninja rap.
The tonal 180 from part one and two (just like the original 1 and 2) might have given it bad word-of-mouth and/or maybe people didn’t feel like paying theater price for something they can see at home i.e. the Nick cartoon.
If memory serves me rocksteady came from a Jamaican background maybe. I may be wrong if someone wants to fact check lol. so seeing shamus protracted the character was kinda confusing for me but it was refreshing.
I believe you are correct that the rocksteady music originated in Jamaica.
Allegedly CM Punk was going to be playing Rocksteady but after his falling out with the WWE the part was given to Shemus. Personally I think Shemus looked a better part for the character, size wise at least. Rocksteady and Bebop were always portrayed as being pretty big guys even before they got mutated.
