sadly people in the transformers fandom are alot like the OP…they’re so blinded by nostalgia that they refuse to watch or even acknowledge ANYTHING that strays from the original. When Biker Mice was rebooted, being a HUGE fan from the very beginning in the early 90’s of the show, I was elated. then I was hugely disappointed by the lack of quality and the drastic difference in character designs (Dont’ get me started what they did to stoker). Still, at LEAST I gave the series a fighting chance!
If you don’t like something, don’t WATCH it, instead of bashing it on a forum filled with a bunch of people who LOVE it.
I liked Transformers as a kid. Haven’t seen any new cartoons, but I really didn’t care much for the movies. I think the movies would have been better if they’d been animated. I had a hard time as times trying to understand the transformers in the movies.

Personally I’m lovin’ it.
I saw a lot of this with Transformers Beast Machines- it was an excellent story that I thought took no prisoners. My hubby and brother in law who don’t like transformers loved it and watched it with me- a first. I thought it took a lot of risks and broke a lot new ground- which you must do as a writer/creator of anything otherwise it gets stale. The writer for Beast Machines will not do any conventions because he got death threats over the story line. I thought that was really sad, because I was really moved by the story.
People sometimes don’t want change, but it is the only constant.
lol! When I found out about the reboot I was ecstatic until I saw it. It was definately poorly made in every aspect, the original was better in everything, that is sad. I was done after 2 ep.

I do agree their fighting scenes needs to be polished, it needs more choreography and animation.
I meant a vintage group that will always be there and complain that it isnt true enough to the original for every toyline that gets rebooted. Not specificly this tread or forum 
Personally, I’m loving it. This is the show that I always thought Thundercats could be, free from the restrictions of kids’ TV censors and (for the most part) toy company influence. It has a great, epic and mythological feel to it that in the OS largely went unrealized. So I’m glad to be seeing it this way. I prefer it leaps and bounds over the old show.
I’m actually surprised that many fans I knew from back in the day are liking it as much as they are, because I thought that they’d hate it. I’m glad to be wrong on that. 
To those fans who don’t like the new show and prefer the original, I respect your opinion. But I’d like to quote Ron Moore when he encountered flack from fans of the old Battlestar Galactica regarding his reboot:
“If you agree with us, then this is the show for you. If not, then thanks for coming, but the popcorn is in a different aisle.”
I’d also like to quote Edward James Olmos, who said:
“There’s no two ways around it. If I were a purist, I wouldn’t watch it. Don’t waste your time. Get the old version on DVD. Don’t hurt yourself. Don’t go through the pain.”
So essentially, the old show was what it was, the new show is what it is. They’re two different things. If it’s not what you like, that’s okay. There’s still the old series to enjoy on DVD. But speaking only for myself, I’m willing to go along with this new version and enjoy the ride!
I’m really enjoying the show. But lately I start to feel like it’s loosing some of the fantasy elements. It’s always been a blend of sci-fi and fantasy, but especially with this last episode it’s been mostly sci-fi. Bring on some magic-based characters! please!
the people that hated Beast Machines werent vintage G1 fans though, they were Beast WARS fans that felt a lot of the characterization betrayed or directly went against what was established in the episodes prior to it becoming Beast Machines.
so it wasnt people not liking the stuff that isnt the vintage version, it was people feeling like the writers messed up a perfectly good ongoing storyline

Really? This is the first fan board i’ve ever joined for a cartoon XD and i was always way more into Thundercats than Transformers as a kid (barely, at times..) but I definately haven’t dug into the online fan culture for TF - Personally, i love Prime, and think there have been a lot of nostalgic touches and things done right, and think it has a pretty good balance. When I found it on youtube i tore through the entire series. Some very dark, mature themes at times. I didn’t realize there could be that much hate - what kind of problems do they HAVE with it???

Completely agreed. The OS built a giant, fantastical world during the first season, and even started out with a slightly more serialized style - even as a kid i loved when episodes connected, and was really hung up on the 5 parters. The beginning of the series i believe may have had some episodes shown out of order, and it always stood out, because it was referencing itself, and i’ve always loved that. I’d notice things like it was our planets continents, “Third Earth”, seeing the Egyptian ruins.. it always made me wonder if it was after WW3 destroyed us or something, and (not knowing anything about Tolkein, but having seen the animated Hobbit, and i believe a “middle earth” reference on Superfriends (yes, i really did think this much as a kid in the 80s..!) and seeing all the strange mutated things on Third Earth, it always made me wonder. The bolos reminded me of hobbits and i was always curious about the history of the pyramids, mumm ra’s past, all the old traps and hierogliphics and what not, there had to be some crazy back story and deep storylines that we never got to see. The later series seemed so cheesey compared to what it all could have been. I always hated that the Mutants crew/army disappeared, and it was always just the 3-4 of them. The set up was there for some crazy epicness…
I really like the NS, the OS I loved it but something I that bothered me was that the presentation showed the thundercats fighting against many mutants and in the program only one of each species.
I mean the new series the universe feels more like a working ecosystem.
I hope snowman won’t be the only member of his race.
It needs to come sooner rather than later to keep ratings steady. If people lose interest, the show will not succeed.

I do think, after having read Hear the Roar, that it would have been better if the the episodes for the NS had been done as a group for daily showing to maintain interest. I am curious to see how the same episodes play out on a DVD. I still do think timing and pacing are off with episodes 3 and 4. And they found the Tower too quickly.

I only find postive response about the series everywhere, only you i’ve seen and a handfull of others here don’t like the new series.
One thing that bothers me is that we say to many people that “if you don’t like it then leave” but when i said that the last time to you. I got banned. But i say it again. IF you dont like the series at all, then don’t even bother posting about it. I accept people say they don like it and leave, i accept they thought something was wierd or that a whole episode is wierd, i accept that you left and come back.
But this continues bashing which also shows that “You love the 80’s version and clearly as of now don’t care about the new one” then why stick around? Don’t take this as an insult, as i’m just asking you.
I am being analytical here ( and I did not start this thread BTW), and in this case, spoke in defense of the show. To improve ratings, the show has to hook its audience. It is steady now, but should grow. What are they not doing to keep ratings from growing?

First of all, speaking as a huge fan of the 80s series, I’m a little irked by some of the implications I’ve seen in posts defending the new show that there should be some kind of divide between the fans. A lot of us like both shows.
Now, that said, I do admit I find it puzzling why people continue to watch the new show when it’s clearly not their thing. I can see watching a few eps to give it a chance, but after seven episodes, if it has consistently disappointed… why keep watching? I can only speak for myself, but once a show I watch reaches a point of absolute disgust, I stop tuning in and do something I enjoy more.
I think another thing that people ought to keep in mind when posting their opinions is to present them as such, without lacing them with implications that anyone who doesn’t agree with them has bad taste. I’ve gotten that vibe from some (not all) posts on both sides of the argument, and it’s that kind of thing that starts turning friendly fan board discussion into flame wars.

My own $0.02 on this, I understand both sides of the coin - if your passion is first and foremost for the 1980s series, there are a lot of changes to this reboot that are becoming apparent - more changes IMO than were made to the 200X reboot of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (at least more changes than this early on).
However, for myself, I find when I dig deeper I can still find a lot of the elements that made the original series work present in this new take - a lot of the core character concepts, and a lot of the sense of adventure!
I must admit I wasn’t struck on “Legacy”, definitely my least favourite episode so far - my mind was (and to a degree still is - long story) in a funny place when I watched it so it’s hard to be objective, but whilst I didn’t hate it, I didn’t love it either. 
Putting my “Moderator Hat” on: As for people bashing the series, this is a discussion forum and folks are entitled to give their opinions, even if those opinions are negative. Likewise, folks are also entitled to disagree with those opinions and state why - this is all part of discussion after all! 
Where myself and the other mods / admins will step in is if we see people making personal attacks against those people - e.g., it’s fine to say “I disagree with what you’re saying”, however, as far as I’m concerned it’s not fine to say something like “I’m sick of reading your opinions on this subject” - one’s personal, one isn’t!
I hope that clears things up on that front.

And remember that we, 30+ year old fans, are not the target audience for this cartoon nor the 4 and 6 inch line. If we are responsible for 5% of the ratings and sales, it is much.
Keep the 8 inch line alive and it might MIGHT become a collectors line if the NS fails.
