I’m more ****ed at the idea of Tygra and Cheetara being Bengali’s parents. i mean genetically, what freaking sense does that even make.
The insect thing is just plain dumb to turn a cat into… and why insects most of the time when it’s time to turn a cartoon character into an evil monster?
As far as Pumyra’s death, it’s fitting if you ask me especially the fact that she’s a resurrected vengeance spirit from mum-ra.
The guy that was sitting next to Mr. Norton wanted to make sure everyone was aware of he was not fully responsible for “Spiderman having a cape in Spiderman Unlimited”, which he work on! (That’s what the executives wanted)
Which brings me to the subject “Are WB executives really to blame for the show’s direction or people like Dan Norton”, because he mentions he follows orders based on what the higher authority wanted…
Dan says a podcast will be done soon and that’s all he would give me as far as a date he can be a bit of a tease!
Finished watching the panel, and I think the ideas do sound better when Norton tells them. It gives a better idea of what their interpretation was. I think after hearing the context I’m more okay with Lynx-O being killed by Slythe. If Lynx-O is given good characterization in his brief time, then I think it’s okay. It sounds like neither he nor any of the cats even knew burning the fields would kill innocents, so they aren’t tyrants who just decided to wipe out their enemies. It was just a very tragic mistake.
I’m still kind of on the fence on Pumyra’s death. I would rather she be saved just to give one real spot of hope for Lion-O before the end. If she is saved, I think it might be a good idea to let her live a peaceful normal life and not fight alongside the team, maybe even go into a sort of self imposed exile to atone for what she did. I will say I’m kind of relieved that Dan more or less implied that there is still goodness in her, and that she is being controlled by Mumm-Ra’s will to an extent.
Even if she is killed by Tygra, I would rather it not cause strife between him and Lion-O, because I think by that point their bond should be strong enough to deal with it. I expect the initial reaction to cause a lot of tension between them, but nothing long term. Those two need to be family. As for Pumyra’s transformation into an insectoid, I don’t think I can really judge that without actually seeing what it would look like.
As for Bengali, well, I think I’m going to need more details in order to judge that. It’s possible that Bengali wouldn’t have been a white tiger, it’s possible that maybe Tygra and Cheetara adopt him. More info is needed.
The rest of the stuff revealed so far I’m okay with and find interesting.
I think it would be foolish of Lion-O if he did held a grudge against Tygra for killing Pumyra, considering she was going to kill him. But that depends on what we actually see, maybe there could be a lot of emotions passing through both characters during that vital scene which may lead Lion-O to feel that way. However, I’m sure Lion-O wouldn’t actually be mad at Tygra but rather more enraged at Mumm-Ra for letting it come to this, death of a fellow Thunderian by hands of another, although she was dead to begin with.
I’m all for good endings for characters, but sometimes I think it serves story better if the main hero, especially someone like Lion-O, faces up against soul crushing to make him the person he needs to be even if it involves him getting no love interest or losing the ones he love. The show made him out to be this soon to be legendary hero or king, at least to me. In that sense, such trials would only serve to make him a better king.
Begali’s story sounds just plain odd 
I’m gonna be the only guy that likes all the stuff in season 2? Oh, okay. I guess I just find it rather petty to complain now because there’s no chance of it happening. I’d be open to Bengali being Tygra and Cheetara’s child as long as they did somewhat of a time skip. Though I would have liked Pumyra to be redeemed, the thought of what would go down during that final battle would have been awesome. I suppose it’s just me, though.
Maybe Cheetara and Tygra couldn’t have cubs of their own?
I know a lot of people have speculated that maybe those non-distinguishable cats are mixed breeds, but we have never met a cat who was stated to be mixed breed. Some combinations could work, but many others wouldn’t. Well, in the real world.
I know this is a cartoon, but in reality a Tiger and Cheetah would not be able to reproduce with one another.
To make it even sadder maybe Cheetara (I have heard of it happening with dogs) is too small to carry half tiger cubs to term.
Although i love the whole concept of tearing the main character down to make them into the legendary hero they’re meant to be, NS thundercats went a little overboard with that. There is only so much hardship you can put the main character through that sometimes it rubs most viewers the wrong way. The way this concept was handled in this series sort of made most of the main characters (trio especially) unlikable most times for me.
@ Gold Lion - So, i take it that your theory about these just being ideas that were thought up but probably wouldn’t have made it to the actual show, that just no longer comes into play? Because you sound like you fully accept them now.
@ Wolf873 - I know that going through what Lion-O has gone through can make you strong (somehow), but after all that Lion-O has been through already, it just seems a little unfair to add another scar to his life. This type of thing could turn him into an emotionally detached loner.
No matter how i slice it, these ideas and story plans just seem like the wrong way to go. Maybe it is just because they torpedo my own story ideas, i’m not sure, but if i actually saw these ideas on the actual show, i’d probably never look at it the same way again. I was willing to overlook the harshness of Season one, but that was only because later episodes gave the impression that the strife suffered earlier weren’t really going to matter in the long run. But these plots; Pumyra never turning good and dying as an evil monster, Lynx-O meeting his untimely doom, and Slithe making a heroic sacrifice, these things i would never be able to overlook. But i assume you all think that’s a good thing.
That’s the part that really confuses me. Even if it’s a cartoon, it still would make no sense how they can give birth to a white/sky blue with black stripes tiger . I’m sorry but even if i was a 12 yr old kid, i wouldn’t buy that whatsoever.
I thought about them adopting an abandoned small cub too, or maybe this NS Bengali was a hybrid cat, a cheetah/tiger cross (though like you said real life tigers and cheetah cannot reproduce together). You are correct there too, cheetahs carrying their own cubs usually have complications and a hard time in general, carrying a tiger cub would likely kill a cheetah, but that’s me applying real world qualities to an animated series, lol.
I think it will be the opposite and the third season will be a confrontation between brothers with a timeslip of several years (7-10 years).
The third season will try to bring them together again.
About Pumyra… I think she really hates Lion-O and does by choice. The necklace prevents Pumyra get out of the plans outlined by Mumm-Ra, as in the mountains of Plun-Darr, when her eyes shine and change her temper.
Pumyra’s feelings change over the time and isn’t able to kill Lion-O without becoming a monster without feelings and consumed by hatred, as Lion-O is not willing to fight her. She must feel the same and so decides to become an insect.
We don’t know how there genetics work for crossbreading and if they were created by Mumm-Ra then really don’t know what to expect.
Regardless of all this dark stuff I would still have liked to have seen this season made and watched. I would have liked a the third season even more since they would have aged everyone and we might have seen more characters from the OS.
No Balgus82, you aren’t the only one. I was totally p-o’d at the end of season 1 with the ‘big reveal’. The idea of mutating her into an insect is dumb. The only way Tygra and Cheetara (a pairing I don’t care for – but that’s me) saying Bengali is their son…puhleez! Sure… really suspend the disbelief. If Cheetara produced a white tiger I’d ask her who she was sleeping with if I were in Tygra’s boots. And as for Lynx-O…well he is blind. He couldn’t see the eggs.
He could smell the lizards a mile away in the premiere, so that’s not really an excuse. Those eggs were being cared for by the female lizards, too.
IF we were applying real world genetics, lets just pretend for a moment we are: Bengal and Siberian orange tigers produce white cubs all the time, its a recessive gene doesn’t mean anyone is sleeping with anyone else, its just genetics, sometimes you role the dice and get a white, if anything Chee having a white mostly tiger looking cub confirms Tygra IS the father (since he’s likely the last one). HOWEVER if Bengali is their blood child he’d likely have some spots to show for it too, I’d love to see the character design but I’m guessing he’s adopted.
If anyone saw the panel vid he also says at the end that the Silverhawks and Tigersharks would’ve been on the show.
I was being sarcstic. So all you geneticists out there. Why don’t you do a phenotype on a cheetah and tiger and see what you get. The other problem is cheetah’s are not true cats. They are more dog-like in their genetic structure. The only way you could cross the two would be through genetic engineering, which evidently Mum Ra is since the thing about him creating the Thundercats is an even worse idea in my book.
I’m aware of cheetah’s unique genetic structure its part of the reason they cannot be interbred with other big cats however I was applying real world science to what I thought was serious speculation, just brainstorming I meant no offense and I don’t think anyone else did either.

You’re right, unless Lynx-O could see way back when and had less heightened senses and burned it miles away from the eggs and it spread. I’m REEEEALLY reaching here I know. Hm…I don’t want to believe Lynx-O knew because it would crush me.
