OK Ben Gali being Tygra & Cheetara’s kid would be a bit of a pill to swallow.
Unless they wanted Ben Gali to be a newborn Thunder-Baby (which would be dumb), how would that even work?

Wow, this is all certainly allot to take in. I am on the fence about all of the darkness/violence that was mentioned. I like the creativeness and the fact that they are willing to go out on a limb, but some of this is really heavy. Either way, I definitely would have watched had they continued.
The Bengali rumor is out of left field. I would be very interested to see how that would be incorporated as all of the other Thundercats from the original were closer to the ages we are used to. As others have mentioned, I am hoping that the upcoming podcast that was mentioned will give us more information on if we would have seen Grune again or any more background on Cheetara and Jaga…
Enter the world of TIMESKIPS!!!
Just when I thought they couldn’t possibly come up with any worse ideas, I now read that Bengali would have been Tygra and Cheetara’s son!

She is white, he is a tiger. 1 +1 …
Why is it a bad idea? You mean the same way that Tygra and Lion-O are “brothers”? At least tell us WHY you think something when you type it down in a discussion forum.
I for one dont like it mostly cause i want him to be as old as the rest of the cast. Maybe he could have been Lion-Os age? Cheetara and Tygra are the same age and older than Lion-O as far as i can remember. Panthro while not as old as Lynx-O fits him the best, you have the two kids and Bengali with Lion-O.
And no this is no relationshop thing but more of an age thing.
I don’t like the idea of Bengali being their kid for a couple reasons. First off I liked his character in the OS and I would have liked him to be the same age as Lion-O or Tygra. Also if anything it would have made a lot more sense for him and Tygra to be half brothers. That would be my main problems with it. As for the other ideas Dan announced for the second season it would take far to long to type all the problems I have with them…I don’t think my keyboard could take it. ![]()
Fair enough he’s a tiger and she is white LOL.
It sounds more like you just can’t back up what you say. “I can do it, I just don’t want to.” Until you do decide to actually explain your opinions they’re not going to be worth listening to, and I’m going to keep believing that they’re wrong. Just knee jerk reactions from an angry fan boy rather than criticism from someone who actually knows why something bothers them and what they’re talking about. If you’re not willing to actually, you know, discuss it in some intelligent way, then you’re not adding anything.
Back on topic, I really would have liked Bengali to be one of the team and gotten chance to become a real character. Assuming this rumor is true.
I like most of the ideas minus the deaths of the characters.
This whole Bengali is Tygra’s and Cheetara’s child sounds like bad fanfic to me.
I would have liked them to aged everyone 5-7 years in season 3. It would be cool see the twins as teenagers, Panthro bald, and Lion-O more like his OS incarnation in physical age.
I like that idea. I could even see this working with the Bengali idea if he is adopted by Cheetara and Tygra as a teen then by season three he’s an adult. That could have actually worked. Not the best scenario but not bad.
WOW…after reading these ideas for a second season of NS thundercats, i really don’t know how i feel. The Pumyra death thing was sort of a logical move if you ask me and i don’t have a problem with it. The thing with Tygra killing Pumyra, that i have a problem with. It’s bad enough the brothers don’t get along but adding another rift between them is just too much at this point. I would have been satisfied if Lion-o was the one to deal the death blow to Pumyra to save Tygra therefore resulting in them getting closer than the other way. The Slithe story arc sounds awesome and it makes sense and it’s consistent with his actions in season one. I can’t say that i care too much about Lynx-o’s story arc.
Overall, i can’t say i’m pleased with the plans for the second season but i still would have tuned in.
You’re not alone srebak. The Pumyra thing turns my stomach. Tygra killing her. Even worse. Glad it didn’t go to season 2. :pumyraveryhappy:
I can back up what I say but usually when problems with the NS are pointed out fan boys like yourself go off on one. I have explained my thoughts on Bengali so I shall explain why I have a problem with the Lynxo and Slythe plot. The Thundarians were portrayed as cruel and merciless tyrants from the first episode and this plot does nothing but confirm that. Why would any child want to follow the adventures or buy toys of a bunch of survivors from a race like that? For a show aimed at children this makes no sense.
That’s my feelings exactly. If the show was for adults then go ahead have as much death and dark plots as you want, but when a show is directed at children to sell toys it doesn’t have a place there.
New Lynxo action figure! Now with severed head action feature!
So I just got confirmation from Dan: yes Bengali is Cheetara and Tygra’s. That is ALL I can say as I’m swore to secrecy on everything else I got privy to. But guys when that podcast airs your minds are going to be blown. BLOWN I tell you!!!
If that really is confirmed, then i am GLAD that the show was cancelled before season two aired. Now i’m starting to feel like this series would have dug it’s own grave if the toys issues didn’t exist.
For those complaining about the handling of the trio of new T-Cats, lets be honest here. They were never that great as characters to begin with and were ultimately nothing more than a cheap way to extend the life of the show & a ploy to sell more toys. Honestly, if they had decided to leave them out of the reboot entirely, I wouldn’t have minded at all.
What they did with Pumyra here in the reboot is infinitely more interesting than what she was in the OS where all she amounted to being was the girl T-Cat that wasn’t Cheetara. She went from being one of the least remarkable T-Cats of the bunch to being one of the most interesting. For me, the hook of a second season was wanting to see how they were going to resolve her character’s turn to the dark side.
I don’t mind the Lynx-O thing since I never really liked that character anyway. In the OS, he was just a walking PSA about how blind people are awesome, and was a bit of a Mary Sue a lot of the time. He was also a source of wisdom…but we had Jaga for that, so again, what is the point of him? You want an effective & fun blind character, look no further than Toph from Avatar. So them wanting to make him a hardened general and a key element of Slythe’s backstory, heck, I’d like that better than what he was in the OS.
As for Ben-Gali being Cheetara & Tygra’s kid…OK if there is a time travel element of some kind, I guess it is OK, and to be honest, any way to tie Ben Gali into the story would have been done to have him connected to Tygra in some way. I can’t tell you how many fans I came across that took the “brothers” line from T-Cats Ho the Movie literally. Now him being Tygra’s son? Probably not the route I would have taken. I was thinking he’d be the last surviving member of the White Tiger clan that split from the Tigers and he’d be a denizen in the Snowman’s village as a blacksmith and he would ultimately share a bond with Tygra since they are the only tigers left. Again, those were my thoughts, but the son angle is something I’d be willing to give a chance to. I mean if I can accept Vegeta of all people having a kid…ha ha.
Now if I am going to compare the treatment of the new T-Cats to anything, lets look at Lola Bunny (bare with me). People have complained about her treatment in the new Looney Tunes show. She’s crazy, relentlessly cheerful, can’t maintain focus, spouts weird non-sequiturs and stalks her boyfriends like a psychopath. That is a far cry from what she was originally, and people hate change. But what was she like when she was first introduced in Space Jam? Uh, she was sexy, which is an odd trait to add to a rabbit. She was athletic…she didn’t like being called doll…and that’s about it. She was little more than a marketing ploy. It was like the WB execs were like “Hey, lets have a strong female Looney Toon for the girls” but beyond that superficial marketing, there wasn’t really much of a character. This new Lola is a MUCH more interesting personality and better fits in with the Looney Toons because, hey, she’s actually LOONEY! Give me the new Lola any day. I would have been happy if they just left her out of any new LT projects forever and ever until the end of time, but hey they changed her up, made her fun, and now, I love her to death, so good on them.
So with the T-Cats reboot, I would have been perfectly happy leaving out Pumyra, Lynx-O, & Ben Gali altogether, but if the creators wanted to take them and make more of them than the cardboard cut out marketing ploy they were in the 80s, then good on them for trying. And I can truthfully say that Pumyra in particular was a hit, and one of the most interesting aspects of the reboot.
Do you know when will it happen?

Hey PKELL,
Some people like the new Thundercat reboot. Some don’t, like me. To me there is enough darkness in this world and the OS was a great story for its time and era that took away some of the darkness back then. I liked the new trio as it brought another thunderian female in to the scope, although we didn’t get to see much of what they could have contribute to the team due to the writers strike and then show cancellation. In the reboot her character is loathsome to me. But she’s probably more exciting now to those who weren’t there with she first debuted with Lynx-o and Bengali. Thanks for your view and you have some very valid points. Peace.
Am I the only one more upset about Pumyra being turned into a giant insect than I am with her staying bad and getting killed?
As for Tygra, I don’t see him as any different than Panthro when he had to kill Grune. The only difference is our own perceptions based on the Pumyra in the OS, and not really the Pumyra in the NS.
I like to think that maybe Lynx-O didn’t know about the eggs. They said he was trying to burn down the marsh, but that doesn’t mean he knew about the festival or the reason for it. And I’m totally ok with there being an actual reason Slithe turned evil. The road to H-E-double hockey sticks is paved with good intentions.
And I also agree that some of these ideas might not’ve made it into the show. I remember an idea Dan put on Deviantart where a kid watched his dad die in a fight with the Duelist, and tried to fight him himself, and died as well, and they said it was too dark.
