Who told you to leave the forums? I think the only point made was, if you feel the show deserved a 0/10 rating like you gave it, you probably shouldn’t watch the show. I know I wouldn’t waste my time watching/commenting on shows that I think merit zero value from a scale of 1-10. Unless you’re saying the show deserves a higher score but you just happened to rate it a zero anyway, but then why rate it that way at all? The reasoning behind how you rated the NS doesn’t really make any sense, outside of the fact that when you flip a coin, one of two sides show up and there’s a 50% chance for either.
I didn’t ask you to leave the forums, by all means please stay and continue to contribute to the conversations. But why do you want to pester people more, does that mean you were already pestering people to begin with and will now increase the level of that pestering since people have “asked you to leave the forums”?
Of course they cause a stir, what did you expect? Giving it a 0 pretty much tells you that you hate it. That it’s the worst thing you have ever seen. Even if you optiont was 10 or 0 does not change the fact that you HATE this series and that it is the WORST thing you have ever seen.
Are you being sarcastic? Cause that was kinda mean. Dragon_eye never said they hated this series; they said they didn’t like some of the episodes and felt it was dissapointing.
Giving it a ZERO means you don’t like ANYTHING in the series at all. Look at www.metacritic.comhttp://www.rottentomatoes.com/ Look at any offical reviews does any game/movie when they LIKE SOMETHING ABOUT IT have a ZERO? No they dont.
I’m not being mean, i’m not being mad either the problem is Dragon_eye is just being unfair, also flipping a coin to see if it get’s full score or none at all does not change things. Dragon_eye gave it a ZERO which means he/she does not like anything about this show at all and as someone then said.. What’s he/she doing here then? Giving a Thundercats show ZERO when you are on a Thundercats forum and when you like some episodes.
Acording you giving it a ten you may do that. There is people who love this new series so much they think it deserve a ten and there is nothing wrong with that. REMEMBER the problem is that you SAY YOU LIKE SOME STUFF but yet give it ZERO SCORE. You dont even give the show a decimal point cause of those few stuff/episodes you do like.

Overall an 8. I think the show started out terrific, but the later episodes couldn’t even top the pilot episode. As mentioned before, the whole thing felt rushed. In terms of the artwork and music for the show, they are both fantastic. Although the latter still sounds too generic (so its wonderful within that context), you can’t really distinguish it from other shows (except for the first melody we hear in the show when Jaga narrates, that was just excellent). But this has been my complaint from almost every show nowadays, the lack of memorable music. The character chemistry is pretty solid, the feud between brothers adds a lot of drama to the show. And it was very gutsy for them to show panthro without his arms, though I guess the effect was lessened by that glow.
I was surprised that Mumm-Ra was defeated much too easily in astralplane where he was supposed to be all powerful. But I guess they were running out of minutes. Despite some of the complaints I have, they are easy to overlook as rest of the show is quite entertaining. But if they were to improve something, I would say improve the music and make it unique to this show as it was a big part of the original series.
Rather than starting a new thread, I thought I’d go ahead and rank all 13 episodes here!
“Sight Beyond Sight” = This one felt the filler bug more than any other episode. It just felt like nothing significant truly happened. Some characterization for the Kittens & humor from the Elephants makes this one worth checking out.
“Ramlak Rising” = Really, this one just suffered from the let down factor after the awesome premiere. Its kind of like going from something that was about as good as it could possibly be for the Thundercats…to a Moby Dick rip off. Some of the action & visuals are good, and again, the Kittens are the real saving grace, but its one of the least remarkable episodes. The best scene was probably the scariest/creepiest scene in the series so far between Mumm-Ra, Grune, & Jaga, which had nothing to do with the A Story of the episode.
“Omens Part 1” = It was a prelude to the action. All the emotional impact, great action, & big story advancement was in Part 2. Part 1 is good for setting the stage and introducing us to the characters, and it was done perfectly for the hour long premiere. On its own though, it lacks some punch, and is better viewed along with part 2.
“Legacy” = It was an episode that needed to be made because of all the questions regarding Mumm-Ra’s history with the Cats, explaining how the stones were, explaining where technology came from & how it ties into the Cats’ history, and all that jazz. That said, the whole thing is just a glorified history lesson, and not much else. Its good, don’t get me wrong, and the fight between armored Leo & Mumm-Ra was certainly something to see, but an episode being entirely a flashback doesn’t allow for too much forward advancement in the story.
“The Duelist & The Drifter” = This episode really stands on its own outside of the main story arc more than any other in the series. In a way, that is both its strength & its weakness. You could pretty much skip this episode and not miss a thing as far as the overall story goes. But for what it is, its a really cool & different episode. I like the sword based society and it has a nice old school western feel to it. And I like the characters of The Duelist & The Drifter. They could have easily put in Hachiman or other familiar characters from the old show, but instead, they made their own, & I commend them for that.
“Forest of Magi Oar” = This is another one that is pretty much strictly filler, but it was highly enjoyable. I liked that they made use of the old bit about the Sword of Omens not working against an pure hearted being, and like I pointed out in the talkback thread, the basic theme really reminded me of “Good & Ugly” from the original series. I liked that the villains were a team of baddies as that divided the T-Cats up and they had to use their own skills to combat them. The action is this one is superb as well and I liked the darker visual style of the episode. Like TD&TD, this one’s only real flaw is that its almost entirely filler and could probably be skipped.
“Berbils” = This episode was ,practically a love letter to the original series. I got the sense that the creators just had a field day with this one, and I loved it. For a series that has taken a more serious & darker approach, it was nice to see them just kick back & be silly.
“Omens Part 2” = An excellent jump start to the story. Parts of the episode were down right shocking to see how it all went down and it really started the series off with a huge bang with plenty to look forward to in the future.
“Old Friends” = This was Panthro’s first real inclusion into the story and it was great. We got all the background information regarding his history with Grune and it all tied well into the present events. Also we got an appearance from The Diller, which was cool.
3-4) “Into the Astral Plane” & “Between Brothers” = Really hard to pick a favorite between the two as they do both serve as a two part finale in a lot of ways. The final confrontation between Grune & Panthro, the battle for the first Stone of Power, excellent action throughout, a couple of shocking moments, and the feud between Lion-O & Tygra brought to the forefront. It was a pretty amazing two parter that closed out the season nicely well highlighting everything that’s been great about it.
“Journey to the Tower of Omens” = Fantastic episode. It almost felt like a Season finale in of itself as Mumm-Ra & The Cats fight for the Book of Omens. I loved the Raiders style story with the Cats having to use their individual skills to get to the Tower, and it all got capped off with them doing battle with Mumm-Ra the Everliving in a fantastic climax.
“Song of the Petalars” = Simply put, the episode had an emotional impact that I wasn’t expecting and Panthro’s debut was probably my biggest nerd excitement moment in the series thus far. This episode also featured Slithe at his very best, which I liked. Great action, great story, emotional payoff and a kick ass ending. What more could anyone ask for?
Season 1 gets a very solid 8 from me. TPTB had a lot to accomplish in these 13 episodes: re-imagining the universe, establishing the characters, creating stakes, engendering an audience after 25 years of being off radar - that’s a tall order for a cartoon in re-bootville. All in all, they can be proud of what they accomplished. The show has real heart and plenty of care has gone into making a mature story that respectfully holds no punches.
If TPTB keep down the path they’re clearing, this series could very well revolutionize cartoon serials and reset the bar so high that it will be years before anything comes close to eclipsing it.
I couldn’t have put it better myself, well said ruthie! I mean, aside from all the nitpicks people have, I think everyone is really happy we got a reboot to begin with, let alone with so much effort put into it. It’s awesome.
3 for me.. I liked it at first, Maybe as its something new.. But soon got bored off the Rivalry, The love triangle, which to me are ruining the characters i knew as a child.
Mummras Transformation was great, but all we have seen him do is shoot energy blasts from his mouth.. So disappointing there..
The stones of power is a terrible idea in my eyes… as well as the transformers ripp off, oh and the “this is sparta” moment
Some of the flahbacks are great, but some not so. Some stories are ok, some really good. Some corny, some make no sense…
I am disappointed with this series.. With all the hype and stuff being released i expected a massive ordeal and a great cartoon.. Shame its been neither…
Cartoon is ok and watchable.. I do hope it gets better and they dont concentrate on the things they have been doing so far
8/10 for me. Overall, I think the writers did a good job of balancing several competing interests. The series had to go in a new direction, but stay faithful to the original. It had to appeal to children and tweens, but also to the fans of the OS who are now likely parents themselves. It had to be darker and more mature, but not so much that it became inappropriate for its target audience.
Not easy to keep all of these things together in a cohesive series - and you could see this struggle as the writers tried to hit a rhythm, you would have sophisticated and meaningful episodes followed by some rather superficial ones. There were also some inconsistencies in the characters and the storyline that bugged me a bit, I felt the sudden appearance of the high-tech Thundertank in an otherwise medieval society (where did this come from if they forgot about technology?) was a big gap that was never explained.
But overall, I’m hooked. Series looks fantastic, as both a fan of anime and the OS growing up, it is truly the best of both worlds. I like the characters and the conflicts between them. And we still haven’t seen Jackalman et al. or the second-gen Cats yet. A lot to look forward to.
I was terrified when I heard there was going to be a new series because I have been a series collector of Thundercats for over 5 or 6 years and even have Thundercats tattoos all over my body. Needless to say I am a die-hard original series fan.
After the first episode of the new series, I have been hooked. Don’t get me wrong there were DEFINITELY slow episodes that I could have done without but I get they were to make Lion-O grow as a character and make him become the greatest Lord of the Thundercats. I get it, but still could have done without some of those slow episode or even if they would have had sub plots in the episode to get more insight on Mumm-ra or just anything really.
The connecting Silverhawks and Tigersharks was BRILLIANT!! Can’t wait to see just what they do with that, if anything. As long as they do, I know I will be loving it.
I could go without all that crazy space armor stuff. I think that takes it to a pretty cheezey level but I don’t know I guess the kids are into that nowadays. I just don’t care for it.
Although I am NOT HAPPY AT ALL about Panthro losing his arms. I mean really… again, i get it. Have the berbils make him machanical arms and then he is part cyborg. I just HATE the idea.
This season has been doing an amazing job laying the groundwork and I feel the next season will be doing alot of that as well so we won’t see it all reach its full potential until the 3rd season.(keeping fingers crossed for it to make it there)
I can’t wait until more of the mutants come into play so I am definitely excited for next season to see where it goes.
