Exactly! I totally agree. And I think the trend of shoehorning love interests in just to attract a wider audience isn’t necessarily a good thing. Especially when it becomes dominant.

Its just part of the trend now that girls are part of the fanbase. ANY character is free game to be a love interest for the main hero. Just read some of the past threads! Oooh cheetara loves liono, no wait wilykit can have a crush on him, no wait pumyras the love interest now!! Any potential new character is instantly subject to the same crap, first it was willa when we were speculating about the warrior maidens, now mandora. Unfortunately this is even getting transferred to the OS too, where it is being assumed Liono must have been getting it on with (insert any characters name) when as has been said already, it just wasn’t part of the action adventure boys cartoons at all back then.

No I absolutely see what you mean here. I understand the reasons for the thunderians to look bland and generic (easier to animate en masse, makes primary characters stand out etc) but like you said, I’d love to see the occassional panther and jaguar and leopards etc with distinguishing characteristics amongst them. I understand domestic cats or low level wildcats etc may make up the majority of the thunderian commoners, but the primary characters can’t be the only ones of their species, right?

My thoughts are pretty much the same as they were when I was a kid. He’s a REALLY old sorcerer from first earth who has used the ancient spirits of evil to extend his lifespan or make him almost immortal, and these powers plus extreme age has caused him to mutate and shrivel up over time (think the emperor in star wars).
I’m sorry we ruined it for you guys… but on our defense I’ll say I loved the OS when I was growing up and did not need romance, at all. I’d understand it if teens were the target audience, but 6-11? They aren’t really into that. Or is the romance actually aimed at us adults? :eek:
Well, be it for better or be it for worse, there is romance in this series. This series isn’t the first to have romance and it won’t be the last. Again, as long as it is done “sparingly”, as other critically-acclaimed animated action shows, there should be no serious worry.

Hmm? We had five continous episodes without romance, from “Trials” part 1 up to “The Pit”. I think, so far, it seems that it is being balanced. But that’s me.
Many shows have more than 1 relationship going on during the plot. It’s really not overdone. Sure, people on here like me make it seem like it’s really blown up, but Lion-O and Pumyra aren’t even together yet. In fact, all we’ve had is a second of flirtation by Pumyra at the beginning and end of “Curse of Ratilla”.
Let me just ask you, just for my benefit; did you think the romance in shows like The Justice League, the 90’s Fantastic Four animated series(second season specifically), and the original X-Men animated series was “dominating”?
I can’t comment on the justice league, didn’t watch it enough really so it wouldn’t be fair. But the other two, no not really, because romance was subtle and very occassional. And the majority of the cast weren’t hooking up with everyone else.
