To be honest, I really hope they don’t change her original design. I think her old design is good enough and she would still fit in with the noobies. Do you think she could stay the same and still fit in with the newer designs? Or do you think that she has to get an upgrade?
I really want her slingshot to die…do you? Do you think she needs new weapons?..I always liked her and wanted to see more of her, but I really hated her the weapons she had. It’s about as effective as a pea-shooter, word
Since she wasn’t developed in the weapons areas…I think she could get an upgrade and it wouldn’t offend the fans..since she hardly ever fought
I would like to see her as the ‘leader’ of the new TCats as she seemed to be in the original (I guess due to Lynx-O’s blindness.)
Also, I wouldn’t mind seeing an outfit upgrade considering her clothes in the original were more basic. The only difference was the red shoulder pad lol.
I think her weapon on her tail whip and magic pellets is good and maybe have her as a master of magic and potions would be the best step forward for Pumyra.
What I would like to see most from the new Pumyra is her skills as a medic. That was the most unique thing about her in the classic series and it was hardly ever used. It would really compliment the rest of the team’s abilities and be a good support role.
I kind of liked her sling. It fit with Pumyra being a long range fighter, and it did give her the longest range out of all the Thundercats. It fit her leaping abilities since it allowed her to gain distance and the high ground, giving her an advantage. Plus, her ammo was like the Kittens pellets, having various types for different uses. If she doesn’t use a sling, I want her to use a different long ranged weapon. I would rather she not use a bow and arrow though, because that’s been done a lot before. If she did, she’d end up using trick arrows. I don’t think it would really fit her personality and it would undermine her medic abilities, since she’d basically become the team sniper.
Design wise, I’ve tried thinking of an update for her, but it is hard. I’d like her hair to stay the same, and her color palette as well. They could probably add more layers to her clothes though, and make it a bit more ragged like Cheetara’s new outfit.
EDIT: I also think it could be interesting if she knew some magic of some sort, both offensive and for healing.
Now, as for personality, I think Pumyra should be kind of meek and shy, but also very warm, comforting, and caring. Cheetara is already a tough action girl, and Kit is the young energetic girl, so I want to see Pumyra be the most feminine Thundercat on the team. She should lean the most towards pacifism, but still be a decent fighter
I dont like the idea of too many of the team members having magic powers. Mystics and the lot should be a rare thing in the Thundarians I think. If over saturated it looses its allure and rarity and just becomes ordinary. Who is to say that Pumyra couldnt just be a really good natural healer? Why throw magic into the mix? With just basic healing and knowledge I think it makes her more kickin then ‘LEMME PUT MY HAND ON YOU AND TADA’ No. She had to learn what herbs and stuff help, and how to apply them. I prefer that over the INSTA HEAL HAND 2000.
Also, her outfit needs to go. Stat. She looks like a 70’s go-go dancer. I think something more feral looking with maybe a wrap over pants and a haulter top would be nice. Right now she is fighting in a mini skirt. Panty shots anyone? Also being a girl, its hard just to -walk- in a tight miniskirt nevermind kick mutant butt. I do like her color pallet though. The earth tones work nice for her. And her hair is great.
Personality wise? I always saw her as the female Tygra. Quiet soft spoken and more delicate then Cheetara. She can be the bang around action with all the guys, while Pumyra can stay in the back and caculate just the right time to attack. I like that. nods
I like the idea of her being a medic. I think logically it makes sense to have a member of the team who is trained in medicine to help wounded ThunderCats. It could also create an interesting dynamic.
I imagine they’ll end up giving her a bra top too like they did with Cheetara and Wilykit for their clothes. :sneaky:
As the mother of an impressionable young girl I have to say I’ve joined the ranks of other mothers who are sick and tired of even kick-butt female role models wearing next to nothing.
I’d like see her being the team’s healer, that’s it. No magic.
About her clothes, I liked them back in the 80s, but would be completely out of style now. Brown suited her, and was the only TC (besides Wilykat, but he shared it with yellow or beige) to wear it, which was something different. A redesign must be necessary though. I would also fix her hair, never liked it, and get rid of the sideburns.
I’d also see her having a better weapon.
About personality, yes, a softer, not so vehement female in the team would be nice. But I wouldn’t make it a “female Tygra” regarding personality; each one sould have its own, defined personality.
I can’t quite imagine what a female version of Tygra’s personality would be. Velma from Scooby Doo comes to mind.
I like the idea of a softer, more feminine personality for Pumyra. Especially looking at the new designs of Cheetara, she looks rough and tough, definitely more of a tomboy. I imagine Wilykit would be that way more as well but she’s a child. So for Pumyra to be a strong ThunderCat with a softer personality would be a nice balance for the female characters.
:pumyraveryhappy: Now this is good news and raises my hope meter up a notch on this reimagination of the Thundercats. I would love to see Pumyra in the role of healer. Being of the puma breed – mountain cats - she should have a sense of nature and understand the elements to bring about healing. If some magic is involved that’s okay, just so it doesn’t become a plot device. A sling weapon would be good as it can be used as a healing tool (tourniquet for one use, binding branches to make a stretcher to carry the wounded, etc.) as well as a weapon. Anyone see Clan of the Cave Bear? I am happy to hear this news.
I think she should keep the brown color with some (a little) red/orange on it; maybe a toptank, a miniskirt and some leggins.
As for a weapon, there’s a problem. The problem with the slingshot was that it wasn’t very different from the kittens’ pellets and laces, kind of combined with Tygra’s bolowhip, but it didn’t have the long range the bolowhip could get.
So they won’t give her any “stringy” weapon as there’s also the whip again, and even the nunchucks. She won’t get a staff either, neither a sword.
The bow and arrows are a good option IMO (I thought of that previously), or maybe a cross-bow. I know it has been used before in many other cartoons and comics (Hank in D&D, Legolas in LotR, Green Arrow in JL, Hawkeye in Marvel, etc.), but still culd do a great weapon.
I was thinking also about a dagger, but it is kind of a short sword, and she would need to be too close to her opponent to use it, and is pretty harmful for a kids’ cartoon.
But I think that they will stick with the slingshot, given that each character is keeping their weapons… it would be a good for a change though (also for Bengali, maybe change the hammer for an axe like Gimli in LotR).
Then she wasn’t good with it or it was poorly made. A good sling and well-trained slinger can get deadly accuracy at distances you wouldn’t believe. It the correct hands it’s an excellent long-range weapon that can be used with a variety of projectiles.
This got my thinking, but perhaps when they do find Pumyra she’ll have been living on her own like Panthro was, but without technology and using nature. She could be almost like one of the Warrior Maidens if they decide not to use them in the new show. I could probably accept her being an archer in that case, but I would still prefer the sling.
Like was already mentioned, the difference between the Kittens pellets and the sling is that the sling gives a lot more range and accuracy. Also, the sling can use real ammo instead of trick ammo. Pumyra could be slinging out heavy iron and sharp stones that would be much less effective if just thrown. And besides that, if Pumyra is going to be the kinder, gentler ThunderCat, I don’t think I would want her using a weapon that’s too lethal. Maybe a boomerang would be okay, but it seems that Kit is getting a chakram that I’m dead sure is going to act like one.
As for the magic thing, I guess I agree, she should stick to using herbs. I really want the new Pumyra to be an expert survivalist, who can track animals and can find and identify the right kinds of plants to eat and use as medicine.
And since we’re all talking about Pumyra, I think she should be closer to Lion-O’s age so that maybe she could shake up the Lion-O/Cheetara/Tygra love triangle. I can imagine her having a crush on Lion-O but never being able to get his attention because she’s so shy and Lion-O keeps ogling Cheetara.
I liked her hair the way Brett Booth drew it in the Dogs of War comics. It was a bit longer and had more volume and the “sideburns” looked more like hair that just happened to fall infront of her ears than sideburns.
Her being a medic would be good. Though I’d like to see her as some sort of soldier as well. Here’s an idea, she should have some sort of katana or a broadsword (okay, broadswords are for villains but you get the idea).
