I’m going to take a page out of my mother’s book and quote her…“Brown is Boring!”
Pumyra definitely needs an update and get rid of the “brown” color to her outfit. No more 1960’s go go dancer with boots look! Get an updated look with some feminine armor or a miko look. Granted, she is a puma (cougar, mountain lion, Nittany Lion GO PENN STATE!, panther, etc). Pumas are mountain cats and it would be natural for them to have earthy tones, such as brown but it should be mixed with greens or other natural tones such as tan, ecru, and the sort.
By the way those sideburns are actually called “tandrils”, it’s long hair that is left hanging in front of the ear while the rest of the hair is either pulled back or combed back in some kind of hair style.
They definitely need to get rid of the sling shot, I’m going to go with a long bow, it makes perfect sense for mountain dwellers and would fit in perfectly for a healer…Inuyasha anyone? Remember Kikyo? She was a healer, and a warrior. She had a long bow and was a very skillful warrior, not to mention a key character in the show.
Pumyra’s hair has to change…keep it long but get rid of the “skunk girl” look. You can have a white stripe however, it needs to be tweeked to make it look good and more natural, if not normal looking. Instead of bright white, have it a lighter shade of tan and have it blend better with the darker brown.
I’m going to go against the crowd here and say if they should ever give a grown Thundercat a tail, she should be one of them. If you watch anime, some grown women look great with them, it would really show off her puma side with a brown tail with a black tip…it would distinguish her from a regular lion. It would really make her look feminine, catlike, acrobatic and cute at the same time.
Well, lions don’t really have bright red hair either. I don’t mind the stripe. I t reminds me of X-Men’s Rogue. If it had to be redone, they could just put it to the side instead of straight down the middle.
Maybe her hair was supposed to be like punk rockers… maybe. Her hair makes me think bad 80’s hairstyle.
The white stripe makes me kinda think of a mohawk but it had no extra height to it. Ooh, they should have given the new Panthro a mohawk, rather than that hideous looking male-pattern baldness (is he supposed to appeal to guys who were kids during the original series who are now balding adults?). Hee…hee… They could have done a mohawk and made him Mr. T-ish.
I’ve heard that a sling in the hands of someone well trained to use it is actually a very deadly weapon. If I remember though, her sling wasn’t very realistic. Didn’t she have some big ball or something she slung with it? I don’t even remember what exactly it did.
But it is similar. CATS opened on the west end in 1981 and on Broadway in 1982. Maybe it influenced the character design?? It is similar…then again i could be reaching here…
None of the new Thundercats had real personality traits, I mean even the original thundercats have this problem I mean Lion-O is the leader, Panthro the smart and strong one cheetarah is just what the girl? she was never really fleshed out besides her speed/sixth sense which weren’t used that much. Same with tygra, he really got the boot since Panthro got both the smart and strong character traits instead of dividing them into two characters like most shows would. In 65 episodes of season 1 we didn’t get much development of the original cast so its no surprise the new thundercats didn’t especially when the status quo was changed every 20 episodes.
Outside of maybe Lynx-O the other two didn’t have much personality, I still really like the idea of the new thundercats and they have a ton of potential. Bengali could have used his blacksmith to use in some interesting ways and i thought his hammer was cool. Pumyra’s weapon is fine, I liked her she just never got a real chance to shine, she was just another woman like Cheetara which like I mentioned she didn’t have much going for her besides the sixth sense which was rarely used or her speed which didn’t really make her character much either.
They all had there personality traits. Lion-o was the leader, he was also the ‘youngest’ of the adults so still delt with all that angst and such. Panthro was the joker of the group but also had the shortest temper, Tygra was the shy one, Cheetara was the tomboy, Bengali was the short fuse, The Twins were your average tweens, Lynxo was the wise and eldest so wanted to help with his smarts…and Pumyra was..well just another pair of you know whats and another female thrown into the mix. They never gave her much. =/
