For those interested in doing the podcast, these the following things you need to do:

[li]Skype @ http://www.skype.com [compatible with Apple][/li][li]Create a username within Skype[/li][li]Purchase a microphone (assuming you have PC speakers) or purchase a headset. To avoid background noise, a headset is recommended.[/ul]Let us know your Skype username and we can add each other to our lists.[/li]
We need to set up and finalize the way the podcast is going to work, including segments (what we’re going to talk about during each podcast) and who is going to talk about what.
Also, we need to come up with a name!! I don’t want to copy MastersCast (ThunderCast, though it would sound REALLY good). If you guys have suggestions, tell us!
Last but not least, I subscribe to podcasts that have a group of five people and it seems to work pretty good. We can test it out and if it doesn’t work, we can find a different format to use. But for me, I think the more people, the more interesting the podcast can be, as long as it’s organized.

Just thought you might like to know that Kyle & I were just talking in the TCL.Org chatroom, and Kyle came up with the perfect name for the podcast, by virtue of a typo - brace yourselves…

Seriously, as I was saying to Kyle last night the only thing that concerns me is what personal info you have to submit and make available both to Skype themselves and to other Skype users. I will confess to being a very paranoid person when it comes to things like that. Nonetheless, Kyle has given me a lot of reassuring info, so all looks good to go!
Hi there chris.. when you go to the Skype website.. you click download software… no information is taken from you.. you then make a username, password… and your email…and then your in… as far as I remember it.. I don’t remember providing any details whatsoever..it asks for your full name as I told you… but we have put other stuff like TCL Podcast… and kzlambert…
I did it so quick I am not entirly sure what info I gave.. can anyone else remember to help chris??
Edit.. I just opened my account page for skype.. and all they know is that I am british and my nickname is kzlambert..
Chris, signing up for Skype is just like signing up for a message board. It only requires a name, your screen name, email address, and your location. Any other information you enter is optional. It’s safe as well. You’re not entering any personal information like billing or whatnot. It’s 100% free for what we are planning to use it for. Skype is developed by a UK company and more than 5 million people use it. So I’d say they have a pretty good userbase.
My screename is of course…MannysCollectibles. I wont be able to use it for a good while because of my school and all but i should be able to once i get back home
I’ve just added you guys to my contacts and sent you hailing (text) messages - hopefully this will work OK. I confess I have no idea what the hell I’m doing!
EDIT: Just thought I should add, it may be a while until I’m able to use the audio functions on this - for one thing I’m nervous about accidentally using a facility that may end up getting charged to my Mum & Dad’s phone bill, and also although I’ve discovered my laptop does have a built-in microphone, I have no idea what sort of audio quality we’re talking about here!
hey guys, I have been using Skype now for 3 days and it is fantastic.. I have had instant messaging conversations (which remain logged) and have participated in a live voice converstation with Chris on 2 occassions, Manny on one occassion and a Multi confrence with both of them. It is a very clear line! It looks like the podcast is going to be very fun… If we can decide on a name for the thing!! Keep thinking guys…its out there somewhere!
