Chris, Kyle and I were thinking of ideas for the name of the podcast…and the only one that sounded pretty good was ThunderCast.
My only problem is it sounds too eerily familiar with MastersCast…but at the sametime, a lot of podcasts use the word “cast” in the title, so it’s not like we’re exactly copying it.
I agree with Manny and Chris on this one… Thundercast is perfect for a Thundercats cats..It just makes sense..
Anyway, now that we all have the software I think we should figure out who has the capability to talk (mic etc..) and when we are avaliable to do a test run.
So to begin this in the same way as the proposed team meeting.. I am avaliable most of the time at the moment… and I have a fully operational mic.. I am going to suggest a similar time as we had for the meeting.. How are you guys fixed??
I agree, this is the one I would go for, just because “ThunderCast” is an anagram of “ThunderCats”!

I can talk into my laptop using its internal mic, but when Kyle & I both spoke for the first time using our laptop’s mic’s, it created a weird echo effect because of our mic’s picking up the sound from our speakers and relaying it…
Kyle later used a headset where I just spoke into my laptop’s mic, and that seemed to work fine, I couldn’t hear any echo at all - it may be a case of me purchasing a headset.

I would need to hear some specific dates/times proposed, but at the moment I’m available on all sorts of odd days or hours!
Well, my understanding is that what we’re talking about here is a kind-of “podcast screen test” using the vocal facility on Skype - which, given that you don’t think you have a mic, would mean you weren’t able to do it anyway wouldn’t it?
For the next team meeting itself, we’ll definitely have to try and make it a time when you can join us, Manny!

I have notied things have gone a little quiet on the Thundercast front…
I am going to put a date out there and see who can make it..shall we say
Sunday 9th July at the same time we did the last team meeting..it was 7pm UK time..im guessing 2pm US??
What do you guys think?

It depends on if I have time to pick up an headset. Me and Chris talked the other night using a our standard mics and the sound quality results were not too good. Might not be a good time either for me as the TV will be on and if I’m shouting down a mic, anyone in the living room won’t be too pleased.
Yes, I have the problem of my PC being downstairs and our living room and dining room (my PC is in the dining room) are one big room as the dividing wall was knocked through years ago. Unfortunately my bedroom is so small, there is no room for the PC (besides my brother shares the PC with me as we bought it between us) so I probably wouldn’t have it in my room anyway.
The best time for me is probably fridays at around 10.30am up until around 1pm UK time because mostly everyone is out so I’d have no interuptions.
Living with my parents makes it awkward really because there is usually always some in the living room watching TV throughout the day (if not my Mum, then my Dad and if not my Mum and Dad, my Brother!) That’s what you get when the folks in your house have varying schedules.
Hi Neil, not sure what to suggest.. I can do friday mornings, but I know that that is very early in the USA. I do think that these Podcasts will end up being split up between a number of different people as it is looks like it will be hard to get every one in one place and able to broadcast.
So guys who can do… Sunday 7pm UK 2pm US
And who can do Friday 10.30am UK 5.30 am US?
My hours are very nocturnal, so whilst I would ordinarily expect to be up at 10:30am, to be honest I would only have been awake for 10 - 20 minutes, and not really much good for talking!
I agree with you, Kyle, that these will end up being split between several interchangable groups because of conflicting schedules, and I actually think that would be a good thing - it would make the podcasts different each time.
I still need to buy a headset - I’m trying to figure out which one to get!
Many thanks for that, Celesta - that’s very helpful, and looking at the design, if I can find somewhere in the UK that sells that I think that’s what I’m going to go with!
Looking forward to speaking with you again soon!
EDIT: Just reserved that exact headset, I should have it tomorrow evening from Argos (shop in UK) when my Dad goes to collect it!
Apologies for the double post - I just wanted to confirm that the podcast “screen test” is still on for tomorrow (Sunday) at 7:00pm UK time, 2:00pm (?) US time? I’ve still to test my headset, but it’s here - I’m looking forward to speaking with all of you guys over Skype at once!
Great news! The reason why I asked is because I spoke to Celesta over Skype a couple of days ago and she seemed under the impression that we were talking today (Saturday) rather than Sunday, so I thought I ought to check that I hadn’t missed something!
I should mention that the other reason I’m looking forward to Skype-ing verbally is because the other night, after chatting to you and Martin for nearly 3 hours, after logging off from Skype I developed cramps in my typing hand!! :eyepopping: That’ll teach me!!
Unfortunately I did not have time to look at getting an headset today. We were kind of in a rush as we didn’t go out til late morning.
I wouldn’t have been able to make it tomorrow anyway, especially since the final of the world cup is on, so it would be very difficult to talk then. Like I explained to Chris, my PC is in the dining room and the wall that seperates it from the living room is knocked through making our dining room and living room one big room. Therefore it’s too difficult to talk while someone is watching the TV. My times are best when I’m in on my own with no interuptions and when I’m not disturbing anyone else. As my family all have different schedules, there is always somebody watching TV throughout the day.
Like I said, the best time for me is friday mornings between 10.30am-12.30pm (I’m in on my own!) I know that’s gonna be very difficult for most people, so if need be I’ll just make guest appearances on the podcasts when I can or even pre-record my thoughts and then let you play them during the cast. I’m happy either way, cos I really want this to go ahead and I don’t want to drag it down with my schedule problems.
So if you do have a little meeting tomorrow, could someone fill me in on all the stuff you decide? Thanks!
I have a free trial for a recording software that works with Skype and I want to try it out before actually purchasing it. If someone wants to have a brief test conversation with me, I’d like to see how it handles – the more people the better. Either PM me, sign in on Skype (I’ll try to be on) or post a message here.
If the software works great, then we could jumpstart the podcasting project again.
