Hello fellow Thunderians! I’ve always felt that the “Playful” line of Thundercats deserve their own thread so I am starting this one. My knowledge of them is rather limited and I don’t own any of the figures but I’m sure that many members here are experts on the subject and even own the figures both loose and MOC. So please, post as much information and photos that you have of the “Playful” line (how many figures were produced? how were they similar/different from the LJN figures? etc etc) Even photos of a Playful figure and its LJN counterpart side-by-side would be great too!

So to the best of my knowledge, I have only seen/heard of the following figures from “Playful”:
Tygro (Tygra)
- Had a whip with black handle, white thread and golden balls.
- Had black spots painted under the eyes.
- Feet painted green.
Mandrilo (Monkian)
Bengali
- Was made from a modified Tygra figure base
- Had a silver metal hammer
Jaga
- Had black spots painted under the eyes.
- Had a slightly different colored skin and cape
- Only the blade of the sword was painted silver not the eye and the hilt
Lynx-O
- Was made from a modified Jaga figure base
- Had a different shield which was completely silver
These are all the figures that I know of and I have tried to describe how they are different from their LJN counterparts. Please feel free to continue this list by copying and pasting it in your reply as well as correcting/adding/subtracting from whatever little I have written. And photos are always welcome!
Here’s an old pic of my Playful Bengali. I’ll try to take a newer one with the silver hammer facing sideways so you guys can get a better look.

Wilycub, I am so glad you started this thread! I have recently become very interested in the Playful line and was able to pick up a Bengali (although in rough shape). I am always looking for more information on these so I am looking forward to reading through everyone’s posts.

Thank you “adssse”. I’m glad that you too share my curiosity of the “Playful” line. I noticed that there is a lot of information about this line but it is scattered all over the place so I thought I’d start a single thread which would contain every bit of info and photos of the line so that it would be easier for people to browse through it.

I noticed that the button like thing at the front of the “Thunderwings” on the “Playful” one is quite dark red whereas the LJN ones have mostly a light orange color. Is this a variation between the two or is it due to age and color fading? Any ideas?
You know I’m not sure. I think it just looks a bit darker in this particular photo. It’s a bit lighter then that in person.
I have a MOC Thunderwings Lion-O however for comparison and the button on that Thunderwings is much lighter. BUT, if you look up Thunderwings Lion-o’s on Google image search, they all seem to have a slightly different shade of orange for the front button 
So I guess its just a combination of many different things (camera, age, fading, etc…)
Personally I don’t think it’s a variation.

I have always find that the euro/us bengali have a more friendly expression on the face, the face of playful bengali has the " don’t mess with me or i’ll kick your … with my chrome ax" expression.

Some of these seem identical to LJN’s in mold/paint. In this case is the only identifying characteristic that “Playful” is written on the foot?

Rough shape nor not, it’s a great figure. Congrats! 
That list of differences looks good. Cheetara’s staff is more of an orange color instead of the yellow. I believe panthro had metal links between his nunchucks (i can’t confirm as ive never seen a sealed panthro only loose). I think the shuttleguns came with accesories if they came w a figure (i’d have to dig mine out or find some pics to say for certain). Im pretty sure that Snarf was packed w Lion-o like LJN early in the line just have never seen it nor have I ever seen Snarf sold seperatly, but it makes sense to me it woild be that way. Top-Spinners mace is more of a fuschia/dark pink instead of red. The fist pounder is a way lighter shade of green (desperately been trying to get my hands on one for years if anyone has one for sale or knows of one for sale). Hammerhand and Ram-Bam I’m not sure if were produced or not
As far as pictures I have some scattered through out the site. Mine need to be dug out and im sure when ill have time to do that so i cant really post new pics now
Here’s my play ful Lion-o, Mumm-ra and Jaga. These are all I have loose and a carded Mandrillo somewhere when I get round to photographing them. Mummra’s dagger is very poorly painted and feels different to the LJN counterpart.

Thanks for sharing! There is something about Jaga’s eyes that I really like.
Astral Moat Monster was made as well (completely forgot about him). He has painted fingernails and no markings that I’ve found
