Cause i dont see that super duper villain with a pet at all. Why he ever got one in the first place is beyond me. It’s just not him. He’s good at his own (not in this series in the sense he lost every fight so far).
He has his own powers, he has his henchmen. In the OS they were there sure but then just as comicy characters.
Depends on how they portray him. Mumm-Mutt doesn’t have to be a lap dog. He could easily be a vicious guard dog.
Mumm-Ra: Those blasted ThunderCats snuck into my pyramid way too easily! Rise Mumm-Mutt!"
Heck they don’t even have to call him Mumm-Mutt. They could change his name like they did with Addicus and Kaynar.

I would make the Lunataks into demons from another plane. They all had horns in the OS so I don’t think it would be much of a stretch. Mumm-Ra could summon them to help him and he looses control of them. Or the ASOE could send them out since Mumm-Ra has failed so much.
The ma mutt vicious guard dog idea is an epic one! I wasn’t convinced about the character coming back before but I would love to see that!
As for the lunataks, no I’m still not convinced. The only reason they could be brought in is essentially the same as the old one, to replace the current bad guys and act as the new big bad (if you’ll excuse the buffy reference) but there is so much scope for the original bad guys characters to be explored and more original first season bad guys to be introduced first. The lunataks should be a last resort if we get to say a fourth season! The mutants now are fantastic, and I think if they reveal somehow that mumm ra has been operating with weakened powers for some reason, I mean he still needs his army to fight his battles, perhaps its the reason he wants the stones of power to restore his full strength, then that would excuse in one fell swoop his poor shows after the pilot episode. Then have an episode where his full power is restored at least partially, let him win one of the stones for example, and he essentially kicks the cats backsides and puts them on the defensive, maybe even severley hurts a major character in the process as the cats barely escape with their lives (and then need Pumyras healing skill). This would make him a serious threat again.
I do find it surprising that quite a few people are liking the lunataks though, and relatively few people are mentioning characters like captain cracker, captain shiner, rataro, safari joe (who I think is inside the conquedors armour) etc. And what about good characters? Like termagar?
I don’t think the Lunataks have to be season-long villains like Mumm-Ra and the Mutants. They could just have a two parter or something.
And personally I liked the Lunataks WAY better than the characters you listed. Except maybe Luna…but she could be fixed with a less annoying voice and personality.
The lunataks were my favorite villains in the OS. But they can’t really do them justice by introducing them now, it needs multiple episodes and the build-up, it’s more for a next season imo. Right now they are still setting the stage, getting into back-stories, more of the mutants were just introduced, but we still need vultureman, pumyra, etc.
Ah I see. I would like to see the driller come back, they made a fantastic job of the upgrade. Who knows, they are setting the next episode or two in a mine?
And the silverhawks? Still no. Even as a cameo. I think they have to be VERY careful with crossover cameos like that because more often than not it becomes an epic fail and really cheapens the show.
